1. Duke - Tatum, Giles, Frank Jackson, DeLaurier

2. Mich State - Bridges, Josh Jackson, Langford, Winston, Ward

3. NC State - Smith, Jr, Adebayo, Alkins, Azubuike

4. Kentucky - SKJ, Gabriel, Fox, Monk, Wynyard, Bolden (or could end up at Duke)

If this plays out, how would you rank these classes?

Interesting to note that Kansas appears poised to have a mediocre recruiting year. It seems NC State is the new favored team that Adidas is pushing recruits to .

Wynyard will be here in December, he won't count, if I am not mistaken.

Those are close, I would rank them:

1. UK- five 5-stars (Fox and Monk- top 5, Gabriel, Bolden, and Killeya-Jones- top 20).

2. Duke- three 5-stars (Giles and Tatum- top 5, Jackson- top 15), one 4-star (DeLaurier- top 50).

3. NCSU- four 5-stars (Adebayo and Smith- top 10, Alkins and Azuibuike- top 20).

4. MSU- three 5-stars (Jackson- top 5, Bridges- top 10, Langford- top 20), two 4-stars (Winston- top 30, Ward- top 50).

we are closer to getting Giles than most of you know. It tickles me to read all of the Duke fear by UK fans on these boards. Keep your eyes and wars open.

They may not shake out that way but it does look like there's going to be 3-4 schools with historic recruiting classes.

Another name to think about is Deandre Ayton. I have no info on him or any idea where he is academically... but go watch some of his videos and see if you agree that he has NO business being in high school 2 more years. I would think the people around him have to be setting him up to reclassify. Unless he wants to take the overseas professional route and make some cash after this season.

I haven't heard much buzz about him lately... if he does reclassify he probably leap frogs Giles as the #1 overall recruit. He's on record saying he likes Duke and UK too.

7'0" in shoes 7'4.5" wingspan 9'4.5" standing reach.

No he is right. UK fourth

I don't know about that. It will depend on where these players get rated when the last rankings come out. Guys like Fox and Monk are not going to go down in the rankings. Gabriel is rising and has as much upside as any guy listed. You have to think he is only going to shoot on up the rankings. I understand guys like Giles, Jackson, Bridges and Tatum are not likely to go down any. It would be a very strong year in recruiting if you land 5-5 star players and your class gets ranked #4. I don't think it matters really. All of these classes would be awesome to have and not much difference in any of them. I think out of all those classes, NCSTATE's class would have the most guys that will probably move down in the recruiting rankings. I don't think it will play out exactly like this. A few of these guys will probably end up surprising some people and going elsewhere. I just hope it's not any of the guys we want.

I too think it's time for KU fans to start worrying. It seems here lately, their recruiting is not going anywhere. If Diallo even gets to play this season or not, it won't matter. He won't be coming back for a second year so KU better be recruiting to replace the kid. Some will say the kid aint good enough to go, but when has that stopped a kid from trying to leave early? Most of these guys nowadays know before even entering college that they are a onendone and even if they don't produce the stats they had in mind, they still have the NBA in mind and risk it. With what they have on the roster currently, after this season, they are in trouble if they don't step up their game in recruiting. Self is a very good coach, but even a good coach has to have the talent to compete.

When did Azubuike leaning to N.C. State happen??? I though the guy who brought him to America from Africa was a Florida State booster.

Weird to see NC State potentially amongst the four with one of these classes. But in my view, better them than the tar holes [thumb2]

Apparently Adidas has made in-roads here. He went from being a supposed lock for FSU to visiting Kansas, and now this weekend he visited NC State with Rawle Alkins and Dennis Smith, Jr. Apparently Adebayo was supposed to be there as well, but didn't make it. Hmmm...

Obviously things can change, but the biggest name Kansas looks as though they may be the favorite for at the moment for the class of 2016 is Schnider Herard.
If that's the biggest name they get, they'll either have to hit the transfer market or get a 2017 big to classify since they won't have Diallo or Perry Ellis around after this season. So lots of relying on Carlton Bragg. Although if Diallo isn't ruled eligible for this year, we may see a lot more of Bragg this season than originally anticipated. Hunter Mickelson, Landen Lucas and Jamari Traylor aren't going to strike a lot of fear into opposing teams.

If we are somehow able to work a miracle and pry Adebayo away from State do we accept the commitment and essentially give up on Giles? I think we want two guards and one more post guy in this class. I'd take his commitment in a heartbeat!

I think Cal takes whoever commits first from Giles, Adebayo, and Bolden to round out the frontcourt. You take a step down from Giles to Adebayo and another from Adebayo to Bolden, but you take the first 5-star big you can get, especially in this class, which is deep at guard, but not so much when it comes to post players. If you miss on all three, then there is nothing else out there. Take the one you can get.

I agree with you.....but we do still have offers out to Thon Maker, T.J. Leaf, and Jarrett Allen though.

Not surprising four schools may have superclasses, as the Class of 2016 is deep. Good for college basketball.

Two months ago, I believed Calipari would sign Wynyard, Killeya-Jones, Fox, Monk, Bridges. Plus another big, either Giles, Bolden, or Allen. I still think that prediction is about right. Just substitute Gabriel for Bridges.

Kentucky is fourth out of those four. Amazing to say that.
Kentucky might be 4th, if those turn out to be the actual classes. But they probably won't be. Calipari will sign 6 players including Fox and Monk. Maybe Giles too, I sure wouldn't bet all the marbles against that happening. Giles is a great player, but it isn't clear that he will have a bigger impact than Fox or Monk. I have seen different sources that rate Jackson, Giles, Fox, or Monk as the top prospect in the country. Calipari will sign at least 2 of them, maybe another from the top 10 too. This will be another spectacular Kentucky class.

If UK can sign Fox and Monk, that would be the best 1-2 by far, NC State would be next with Smith/Alkins, then MSU with Winston/Langford, Duke 4th with only 1 really good guard signee.

At the 3, Duke/MSU would be 1-2 by a substantial margin over UK, although I love Gabriel. I just think he's a few years from being a great SF and Tatum/Jackson are great now. NC State 4th since they're not signing a true three.

Finally looking at the 4-5, if Duke adds Giles - the best player in the class - you've got give them the slight advantage wth Giles/DeLaurier over NC State with Azubuike/Adebayo and Kentucky with Bolden/SKJ. MSU a more distant 4th here with Bridges (he'll have to play PF if they add Jackson) and Ward.

So - overall No. 1 class I think depends a lot on how the big man recruiting pans out. I think if UK does land Bolden, Monk, and Fox, I'd give us a slight advantage over Duke if you count Wynyard with this class (most of the rating services do) and you value raw points over a more subjective assessment of the caliber of each recruit.

Cant wait to watch them all stand around clueless in Izzo's highpowered "offense".

That's the perception of Izzo's offense because 1. they play in the B1G and 2. they typically don't have the horses to run. When they play teams outside of the B1G and have good guard play, they can run with anyone. I think I've read that Izzo is tired of the recruiting side of college coaching. I wonder if with this class (his best in quite some time), if he makes a deep run next year, he hangs them up?

Another important thing about these "superclasses" is I think it puts a lot pressure on certain top recruits to be part of one (Hello, Malik Monk).

Are you going to go to Arkansas and hope for a tournament bid, or be a part of one of the superclass teams that are going to dominate college basketball next year?

Also depends upon whether he's one of those guys who is willing to share the spotlight and the ball or he's more like a Malik Newman who clearly wanted to run the show by his lonesome. This wasn't going to happen for him at Kentucky, but he'll have free reign at Mississippi State.
