Football Ticket Price Increases

Even that can be expensive. Braves have tickets that range from 25$ for general admission to 295$ for premium seats, not boxes. So it can be expensive taking a family of 4 to a Braves game. I am guessing those are in line with other teams.
I always like sitting in the outfield myself and I can usually find tickets in that $20 each range or sometimes less. Admittedly, the two teams whose games I’ve attended over the last 12 years have been terrible.😂

If we were doing what our peers are doing we would be spending a larger portion of our current overall budget on football than we do. Being 7th or 8th in the conference in budget but spending 12-13th on football…then coming and telling fans they need to do more to bridge the gap to make or keep football competitive isn’t a winning argument. If they are doing what others are doing from an admin perspective and then coming to fans that’s more fair to ask us. The way it is now it’s essentially asking football fans to pay up for the extra they spend on women’s basketball and whatnot and frame it as though it’s needed specifically for football to compete.
TBF, that's a legacy issue due to having overspent on basketball, compared to our peers, for so long. Plus, it was just announced that UGA will use only $13.5mm for football of the $22mm revenue share for all sports, so there is an opportunity to close the gap.

That is basically the model that most teams were expected to use. That is 3-4 on basketball. I see UK giving closer to 10/6 split while the others are 13.5/3.5.

That would be throwing in the towel on football. $3.5mm could get you 4-5 elite players or 6-10 quality starters/2 deepers.

Has to end somewhere and I predict it will be sooner than we think.
I think so too
I’ve been following UK since I was 8 or 9. 62 now.
I just can’t support this insanity.
Yep , I’m not giving my retirement fund to my own kids let alone some kid from wherever to play football in college .
It’s a no brainer.....if you want to kill attendance. Tailgating is the only part of the in person experience that makes it worth it. Take that away and thousands will stop coming.
Our group of 6 declined renewal this year . The rarely winning at home played a big role , I don’t like Stoops at all , that played a big part . I retired last fall , way less money coming in . Who wants to watch a terrible product , was costing me several grand a year and 6/7 weekends away from home . 2 hour drive one way . So a value judgement was made by me , and the other 2 couples quickly agreed.

Who know what the truth is? I have heard and read were others have that MJ was saying basketball was getting more. Like you said it doesn’t take near as much to get a quality basketball team

I have not given a dime to nil. It isn’t the fans place to pay the players.
I have given a very minority but I won't give anymore that's for sure. I totally agree all these big sponsors that these schools have and the money these conferences pay the schools. I'd say they have way more than enough money that they can funnel through a back channel to pay these players!

What an ingenious thing the NCAA did right. They wanted to keep all the profits and not share what an athletes name produced. They quit selling jerseys and named items rather than share.
When the SC finally said you can’t stop it. They still are keeping the profits and are tasking the fans to pay the players. Because, of course it’s illegal for the schools to pay them by their rules.
Not one dime from me.

We do overspend on basketball and we also generate more revenue off of men’s basketball. I hardly hold that as a part of the issue. I’m all for having good volleyball, softball, etc but it’s been a consistent theme of placing those sports as more of a priority, in relative terms, than football. When Barnhart came in, EVERYTHING needed upgrading. He focused on track etc first. It took 14 years to get to football and 8 years to get to the basketball facility that tubby had complained about for 5 years before Mitch even came in. Again I’m all for well rounded but the reality is we have sacrificed the highest level attempt at a football program for those things.
