I was wondering how does UK pay football coaches so well and how is it funded. Our coaching staff is well compensated - which we all know very well at this point in time - lol! So, I was looking at season ticket sales and the average prices UK charges for those tickets. Here is a fact that most people probably don't know. This past year Kentucky season football tickets averaged around $500 per ticket and the least expensive ticket was $300. I would estimate roughly half of the tickets had an average K Fund contribution of $500 additional per ticket. So, the average ticket cost for Kentucky season tickets would be $750 per ticket. UK sold 40,000 season tickets which produced about $30 million in revenue.
Now lets compare that to Tennessee's season football ticket cost. The least expensive Tennessee season ticket was $860. The average cost of Tennessee season football ticket was $1,865. Tennessee sold 70,000 season football tickets. Tennessee's season ticket football sales produced and annual revenue of roughly $130 million dollars. Tennessee ,just from the sale of season tickets, generates over 4 times as much money or $100 million dollars MORE than Kentucky in season football ticket revenue.
Maybe this helps everyone understand why Tennessee now has the defending National champions in baseball, the number one rated men's basketball team and the number 6 rated football team. Also, next football season, Tennessee will be charging their season ticket holders an additional $12 million dollar "talent fee" that is used for NIL for football players.
Go Big Blue!
