FIT.Y.E.R.O. (Meathead, wellness, fitness, diet, exercise) Thread

I have a few Spotify Playlists.. some of new music I find, some of rap and hip hop, some of post-hardcore/alt-rock.

If I'm on a cardio machine I'll put on some IT training videos from Udemy or Coursera.

I sometimes don't mind keeping headphones off. I enjoy the ambient noise and being able to hear around me. I also think gyms (or at least mine) does a good job of playing music that gets you amped up. Even if it's stuff I don't normally listen to. Mix of "gym pop", EDM and such.

With it’s half life you’re honestly not getting that much from it most likely.

Oxyandrolone needs to be taken daily for it to really work because it’s completely depleted and gone by the time you’re taking your next dose. You’re not maintaining any type of baseline for growth.

It’s like taking the flu shot every other year and expecting it to work in the year between shots too.

Or taking blood pressure medicine every other day and expecting your blood pressure to be level the days in between.

Like your enanthate, you don’t have to shoot it daily or even every other day because it breaks down much more slowly. Just like the difference between enanthate, propionate and cypionate.

You can’t take cypionate once a week and expect to get anything from it.
I work out 6 days a week, I'm getting plenty from the anavar. The testosterone is 250mg and just to maintain, my levels are between 650 and 750. I will be 56 years old this March and still benching 315 for 8, I'm happy with my results.

Fair enough, if you were only working out 3-4x/week is what I was going after, in that case you would never have a basal level for your body to use the actual drug properly.

-Excited to get to the gym at some point today with these roads.

I’m planning on starting back with bro splits today, we’ll see how it feels or if I stick with full body.

-I was actually listening to an audible book at the gym yesterday and due to the fact I’m not going heavy it wasn’t bad and I could still focus on both.

-May go back to intra BCAAs+carbs. I stopped using them all together for a while as I didn’t really know if they were doing anything or not. In the beginning they definitely helped with soreness though.

Any preferred brands? Most of my professional friends seem to be all about Redcon1 these days but that’s because most of them are “sponsored” by them.

I love Redcon1. I can't say much about how it stacks up with other supplements, but they really offer a lot of deals when you bundle. Their flavors are good, and they seem to be always trying nee things.

That’s the thing, I’m not bundling much since I have plenty of creatine and protein at home and obviously I’m not taking pre right now.

I just don’t want proprietary blends and someone to say they like the results of theirs, which you did. So may order some when I get home.

I may have missed it, but why aren't you doing pre-workout?

If that's the case, then yeah you might not need the bundles. They do offer some "mid" pre-workout stuff, like a pump formula that doesn't have any stims in it that make you jittery. I feel like it does give you a little boost without making you wired like NO Xplode or something.

They have pretty good protein bars, too.

When I get down to the 10lb dumbells I make sure to yell out "this is only because I'm doing drop sets!"
I was feeling this today something special when myself and the gal next to me were both Smith machine squatting #95… I need a shirt with an explanation or something 😆

@LineSkiCat14 I had a heart attack on 12/22 and while I’ve been okayed for coffee and I’m not yet trusting taking a pre and lifting. Supposed to keep the HR <150 and ideally <140.

I use an AccuroFit HR monitor at the gym now to know when to stop and rest and for how long. Hell I use it today while blowing the snow off the driveway and I use it walking these hills in the neighborhood as well.

-Still considering that EKG monitor watch that anth (I think) brought up but as someone who doesn’t like wearing anything like that it’s tough to want to drop $450 or whatever on it.

I could learn to like I’m sure though just for peace of mind.

Holy shit.. THIS past December 22nd?! How old are you again? I would definitely take it easy for a bit.

I think I told the story, I accidentally took 3x the amount of NO Xplode (2011's version, which has been since banned like 4 times over), and I had a full on panic attack in my sleep at 2 am. Like a panic attack on steroids. It was so strong that it sent me into a spiral for weeks. When you start panicking and cant get out of it, your mind kind flood with all these thoughts of doom and it really stuck with me for while.

After that I stopped preworkouts all together. I DO have a few cans of RedCon1 preworkout, and I may take half doses soon, just for a little oompf, but never any more. I also think these are much safer than NO Xplode version 1.

I saw all my old buddies at the sauna yesterday, all at the same time. Some of these guys are in their 80s. And because this location of the gym I go to, doesn't have coed saunas.. about 10 of us just went on a giant 45 minute tirade over how much women are a pain in the ass.

That shit was better than any single workout.

Yeah that was good stuff back then for sure, just the way it bubbled up wasn’t “right”.

I’m 41, def unexpected. They said it wasn’t TRT related, could be mechanical or a random clot, they’re not sure yet. Ultrasound on the 31st.

And yeah, can’t wait to be able to cold tub and sauna again!

This was essentially my daily experience with jack3d circa 2009. Probably would have had a heart attack at 25 myself if I hadn't weaned myself off of it. Best shape of my life though!

M- Shoulders
T- Chest
W- Legs
H- Back
F- Off
S- Arms
S- calves again and maybe cardio

I strip set (drop set) everything.

I'm 55 and been lifting since I was 16.
I don't look much different than I did 20 years ago. I'm prob about 7% body fat.
The diet varies but I've increased my protein intake the last several years which has made a huge difference.
Other than than, I don't take anything else other than protein shakes and drinks.

Anybody who has ever clicked on the music thread could see that these suggestions aren't my usual preferences. I listen to mostly jazz/soul/hip hop and indie rock, and this stuff is gimmicky borderline corny, but it makes me want to pick up every weight in the gym.

Ghostmane - Anti-Icon

Girl Talk - Feed the Animals

I only listen to hard and heavy at the gym. Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, etc

Listen to old school rap most of the time at the fitness boutique. At home either sports on the TV or a podcast. When traveling podcast or Drake/Rick Ross Radio.

We'll knock out some drop sets pretty often.

Today:

Belt Squat
Warm up set
HEAVY x 12
HEAVY x 10
Blood Restriction Cuffs x 10
Blood Restriction Cuffs x 10

Those f*ckers just get your HR BPM up so fast. It's wild. Even though the weight was really light it was substantially harder.

-My preworkout/workout is Coffee pre and LMNT during. I really like it. MP guys(ep2249 14:30) were pumping this legion preworkout stuff up. Stim free. If anyone is interested.

-I'm working on cycling all supplements off right now as I finish a bottle, other than fish oil, creatine, and whey... and maybe that pre.

I think I'm asking you to repeat yourself, but do you have any recs on where to learn more about Occlusion training/blow flow restriction? Should it only be done under a trainer's supervision?

-There's a bunch of info out there on the cuffs. We got the SAGA version. Took 3 weeks to get them. I don't know why it would need supervision. Hell, probably good for people without supervision. Much less likely to get injured with minimal weight than heavy. Seems like 1 exercise per workout, ideally the last exercise is the best for me, because it rips. But we're in the very early days of using them. Bonz, I'll bring them this weekend for you to check out.

-The Naked whey/casein has NO flavor. Which is good. I'm trying to weed out as much of the bullshit incrementally. Even the peanut powder doesn't make it very palatable. So, I'm doing 1/2 UMP and 1/2 Naked.

Really good deal on Redcon1.

30% off sitewide (although there's usually some restrictions)
Spend $50 - get a free mini duffle bag
Spend $85 - Get a free water bottle + Preworkout (and the dufflebag)
Free shipping on orders over $95 (Not including giants tubs of protein for the weight cost to ship_

Plus you earn points towards future purchases.

On top of all this, their MRE Protein bars are discounted by nearly 50%. Their Protein bars are pretty solid (although protein bars are kind of glorified candy bars just with more protein, so careful).. and they come in at like $1.75/each with that deal.

That's why I love this brand, I know some of this stuff is more or less just SWAG, but they really offer a hefty discount. The deals above, there;s no reason you couldn't walk away spending $100 for $250 worth of stuff.

I've taken a lot of the supplements on Redcon1.. Definitely recommend all their protein products, both foods and drinks.. Really like their BCAAs, Big Noise (non-stim Pre), Canteen (hydration, good for hangovers). Havent tried some of their harder stuff yet like their stim pres and some of their creatine, Testosterone, etc products.

Flavors are solid too. Sour Gummy Bear for the preworkouts, Pumpkin Spice cheesecake for protein.

-Never got a scintilla of anything from non-stim pres, would love to find one that gets me going. Probably just need a tub of niacin and beta-alanine…

-Couldn’t care less what ANY of it tastes like. I just guzzle it down in drink/swallow/gulp/etc. That’s never been an issue and I always wondered why it was on the reviews.

And actually 90% of reviews are on the flavor not if it actually performs 😆.

-I always did Scivation Xtend for BCAAs, which I really liked but haven’t used BCAAs in a long while. Thinking of hopping back in.

-With anth in that I’m going through bottles then not reordering.

Will probably dwindle it down to AG1, multivitamin, fish oil (I really like the ANIMAL omega pack though), protein and creatine for a while.

Going to eat nothing but protein/veg/fruit for a while as well while doing this. Like nothing else (Ice cream will be tough).

-Definitely know what you're doing with the cuffs and read your manual.

Which cuffs did you get @anthonys735 ? It’s something I’ve been looking into as it would help decrease the total weight needed for me with everything going on.

Obviously would ask the cardiologist if they’re okay to use.

- @LineSkiCat14 be careful with ANYONE’s “testosterone” products. 99.9999999% of them (I’d say 100% personally) are complete BS that don’t do anything unless it’s actually, you know, testosterone.

Almost any trainer or coach will tell you exactly that.

You could get some supps back in the day that would do alright but it’s so regulated now they can’t sneak anything worth a darn into these anymore usually.

I don't plan on ever taking that stuff. Like my theories on workouts.. in my late 30s, there's just no need to push the envelope too much. I've dealt with back injuries, I've dealt with being sidelined for a month with rotator cuff issues. Ive had the bad reactions from over-supplementation. At this point, working out is almost just as much about preservation and longevity as it is looking good and getting a 6 pack.

I’m not telling you to take anything, I’m just commenting on your testosterone supplements comment. Not saying you’re right or wrong just my opinion on those specifically.

Any recommendations to improve energy.
I‘m mid 50’s, do light lifting, light cardio.
Sleep and diet. If you’re already doing lifting and cardio daily, that itself should increase your energy level quite a bit. If you’re still having trouble with energy I would look toward sleep and diet.

Go to sleep at the same time and get up at the same time every single damn day. That should honestly help.

And of course eating clean, non-processed foods. Try not to eat anything in a container that you just microwave unless it’s some kind of meal prep subscription.

Stay away from sugars, especially cokes. Sugar really can deplete drive and energy as it is filtered out of the system. If you need the caffeine, lord knows I love it, drink black coffee.

If you don’t like black coffee, well buck up, you’re an American, you’ll learn to like it 😃.

in addition to Rouge’s excellent advice, you might also try green tea.

Just did the sauna with a buddy of mine, and in between sessions we just stood out in the negative degree weather for a few minutes.. ho boy, that was a rush haha. Bathing suite literally started to get frost and our bodies were legit giving off steam haha.

I have stopped pre workout drink… as a matter of fact, I don’t like drinking or anything in my stomach during workouts… come home and chug a protein/creatine-laced kale smoothie.

Then coffee, 2 HBEs ‘til lunch.

Rogue was pretty spot on with improving energy. Diet, Sleep, working out.

Try LMNT or Re-lyte, sugar free sodium hydration should help improve energy. I've really felt a difference moving from other stuff to LMNT during my workouts.

Supps:
I do a morning shake with vanilla isopure, sugar free Metamucil, collagen peptides, and creatine.
At night I take fish oil, a centrum, and some melotonin.

Music:
Upbeat, mostly either classic country, rock, or rap/hip-hop. When I need to dig deep there are a few songs I'll go to, like Pantera Walk, or Tupac Hit'em Up.

Got my shoulder checked out, did a month of PT, and have been told basically no more shoulder exercises including incline bench. Guess I'll be honing in on back and lower body.
