1) Cal doesn’t have to pay players to come here for more reasons than I could list. All the same reasons Pitino thought about when he said openly that he should never have left Lexington.
2) Cal hired mature assistants. He doesn’t have a ton of guys around the program that connect to the fringe to easily. He has mentioned it before and said he even did things early in his career that he knew were on the line that he wouldn’t do today.
3) He dropped a lot of recruits like a hot rock during their recruitment. This screams that he heard or felt something with them wasn’t right and dropped them because he was concerned they may bring baggage or were asking for more than could be given.
4) Sandy Bell. She scares the shit out of everyone in the program and rightfully so. She has the keys to the coaches future so she drives their ideas of acceptable behavior. Barnhart would can even Cal if she told him to. Crazy but true.

I am sure there are other reasons to feel confident but these are a few that stick out to me.

Just my opinion, but a faster track to the NBA. Before, it was pointed out by many that Coach K would try and get kids to come back for additional years, so he wasn't selling NBA in one year. Now he's selling being showcased and lottery draft pick in one year.

He always got elite players, so that p art is not new, but now he has such high turnover every year, that more spots are open to the elite players, thus these kids can come in right away and not have to compete for a starting spot. The reason for getting more five stars is because every year he has more open positions than before.

I don't think he's paying kids and I don't believe Cal is paying kids. Plain and simple, K and Cal are selling NBA and have backed it up. Plus, I also think other college coaches haven't gone all in for OADs because it makes recruiting that much harder. Every year the process starts all over again and I'm not sure most coaches want that because if you miss on a few kids, their back is against the wall.

Word is Nike raided AAU headquarters recently, UK is a Nike school. World Wide Wes is heavily involved in AAU.

Truth is, during Cals time here there has been zero hint of impropriety and everyone knows UK and Cal are one of the most scrutinized teams with regard to recruiting in the NCAA.

It's been that way for as long as I can remember and I've been a fan since Adolph Rupp was still coach.Sports Writers and Talking Heads all hated UK because of the winning tradition,so much that they made up LIES and spread BS Stories about Rupp and things that went on that simply weren't true.
There are still idiots blabbing about why a Black player would come to Kentucky the most Racist school in the NCAA and that's pure BS,outright Lie,Fans of schools that were actually very racist spout this crap.Rupp wasn't a Racist,just had to compete in a different era with different problems to deal with,The state of North Carolina was against segregation and did more to Black Folks far longer than Kentucky did,yet rivals at UNC and Duke push that agenda.
