Great effort overall and a lot to look forward to for the season but this game was a W we let get away. 12 point lead with 20 plus seconds to go in the first half with the ball. Wagner takes a long unnecessary 3 with 10 seconds to go on the shot clock, we foul on the rebound and then turn it over after two free throws instead of getting the last shot and of course they hit a 3 at the buzzer. Could have easily taken a 12-14 point lead to half instead it was 7.. kind of knew that sequence would cost us in the end and it certainly did.

Absolutely, if we maintain a double digit lead there we would have won. Give Kansas credit they are damn good.
what was big was when we were up 6 and gave harris back to back 3s. Reed made an uncharacteristically bad pass right to HD. And then Rob decided to get cute.
You know points are cumulative, right?? It could have been a 17-19 point lead in the 2nd and the end would likely have been much different.
When Wagner chucked up his 3 there was about 10 seconds on the shot clock and about 23 seconds in the half. We couldn’t hold for last shot there but certainly could have following the two free throws and believe we planned to. Dilly, who played awesome in the first half, just got too cute with the ball and threw it away with 5 seconds to go. It was a given then Kansas would hit the 3 just before the half.
A better shot up 12 with the ball with about 15 seconds in the half would have been better. I don’t like Wagner having a green light to shoot 3’s. He has an ok looking shot but also one that you don’t think is ever going in, mostly because they don’t.
And there was a time when that would have been a guaranteed win under Cal. But not since Bo Ryan and Frank kaminsky snipped his manhood off in '15.
