I am not tech savvy enough to copy it but one of you I am sure are. In the Dayton daily news today the Dayton coach says tampering is out of control. Duke fans have been saying for a week they have Daytons star player who is an NBA lock. My Bro in Dayton is pissed . I told him for years Duke was low down.
Surely coack K would never have tolerated anything like that . Ha

The article also says that Holmes himself said another school, not Duke, offered him a NIL deal to come join them. I'm sure there are thousands of players being contacted to gauge their interest on relocating. Boosters, handlers, etc are talking to these players nonstop.

I think a school actually making a NIL offer is a bigger story than fans on twitter, but that's just me. My point though was that I believe this is going on everywhere. I heard that Memphis and Sanogo were in talks about a NIL offer but he has declared for the NBA, so that apparently didn't work out unless he has option to pull out of the draft and still transfer. I haven't looked to see when the deadlines for all that is.

Dayton AD on tampering problems in recruiting: ‘It’s outrageous and out of control’

At least Duke is trying to get good players while Cal is sitting on his fat ass seeing what Nellie Olson is up to.
This is correct! I’m never for “cheating”, but this is the new normal in CBB. Sheyer is loading a team 10-11 deep of future NBA players, while Cal is worried about upsetting his spoiled freshmen who haven’t even played a single college game, and watching reruns from the 80’s.

Duke Vitale be like...

It’s going on all over. Andrew Slater knew the ingram kid from stanford was going to Kansas before the season was even over.

And look at how quick some of these other transfers are committing after they enter the portal.

I’m sure Duke was tampering but frankly, right now you better start doing your due diligence during the season otherwise you’re already behind. Doesn’t mean anyone on the staff has to contact the kids either. It’s getting done through their high school, aau coaches, agents, trainers etc.

I don't even think Holmes has officially entered the portal. Right now it's just rumor. He may enter the draft.

Which of the freshman are spoiled? How did it manifest so that you were made aware of it?

Does anybody ever get put on probation anymore?

Seems to me like the NCAA has basically given up on trying to enforce its own rules. It’s the Wild West now. Anything goes.
Southern Idaho State will be put on Probation now, how dare them not look after Duke and let them get their name drug through the mud.

Duke fans wanting him is not tampering. Holmes might be the first or second most coveted big man transfer. If a school reached out and he had not entered the portal then it would be tampering.

Umm, yeah, that’s the whole point. That’s why it’s cheating.

If he’d entered the portal, then it would be fine for Duke to contact him. But it’s illegal tampering if he hasn’t.
I don’t think y’all quite understand cheating vs not cheating when it comes to the portal. If a player has yet to enter the portal and someone, from the school, talks directly to the player or their family, it’s a violation. If that coach goes through LITERALLY anyone else, such as an old HS coach, it’s perfectly fine.

“Hey, great season you just had. Guess what, I ran into someone from the Duke staff recently. Apparently they would pay you hella dough if you hit the portal and transferred.”

Perfectly legal and every major program has done this, both for basketball and football

Tampering has always been there. Its just in the open now. You think these kids bail without having a good picture of whats coming their way? The kid up the road Ellis. He has minutes galore and absolute freedom in the offense at a name brand and he leaps out into thin air with no clue about whats next in his last year of college hoops? Its harder to put a bead on in a lot of situations but when an upperclass star heads out you can almost bet he had a standing offer while wearing his uniform the season before.

There are only a few NCAA recruiting rules now.
1. Watch Your Back
2. If you don't pay your players someone else will.
3. Trust no one

Talked to a UD athletic department employee. This absolutely happened, however, it was their collective. The exact same thing happened with Nembhard at Creighton. Nembhard told the coach he needed more money. Arizona and Gonzaga were the culprits for Nembhard.

That’s gonna be college ball from now on, it’s sad really. I don’t mind them making money but it needs rules and structure. How long until a player refuses to play if they don’t get more money, return only to want more more and not play, or skip the postseason due to maybe having a better year and weren’t compensated like they want? There is nothing stopping that right now.
