I guess hitting the summer camp circuit and dominating 5 star defensive lineman all summer long isn't the way to increase your "stock" after all. What a joke.

If you're into complex math, imaginary numbers, and general bull, go read Woody Wommack's "explanation" on Twitter...

***** C'mon man...... *****

Wommack's spin is awful; shades of 2 years ago how Rivals.com was the only site to downgrade Elam because he was "only" a nose tackle, and those players have so little "high ceiling"

You know how Charlie Brown's teacher sounds? That was pretty much how Wommack's explanation of why Jackson fell in the rankings sounds.
You wasted your time typing that and didn't even tell what was actually said. Really?

His schtick is old. Regarding Elam, he said that players aren't upgraded or downgraded because of one good or one bad camp, yet he cites a Baltimore Rivals camp where he said that Drake "was decent" as a reason for him (Drake) not moving up in the ratings. Rivals panders to the name on the front of the jersey.

Would probably be a top 100 player if he committed to any SEC school aside from Kentucky

Drake handled Bama commit and then 3* Raekwon Davis at the opening...in the new Rivals 250, Davis is now rated the 94th best prospect in the country.

Woody said he was "decent" at the Rivals camp, but that they believe other players have higher ceilings than him. Didn't have a great showing at their Baltimore camp so he kept his 4* 5.8, but went from 243 to "probably 251". Also said the bottom 15 of the 250 "almost always fall out".

UGA has 16 commits, 14 saw their rankings drop, 1 stayed within 5 spots and another bumped to 220, happens everytime Rivals does a new ranking. Woody likes to spend time on our site, mosting to antangonize people. Nick Chubb was a 6.0 4* and that was fine, but at the camps Woody values so high Nick was the dominating back at all of them, 5* challenge, The Opening, the Spaq testing, gained over 2900 yards with 40 TDs as a sr in HS, pretty impressive season by most standards, But Woody chose to move Jalen Hurd ahead of him in the rankings, nevermind Nick ourperformed him at every camp and Hurd was hurt as a sr. I understood that was his opinion, but once the season started, Nick wasn't starting, Hurd was, he came to our board to justify how much better Hurd was. And at the end of the season he was still sticking to his story, when not a team in the country would have taken Hurd over Nick, except maybe UT.

It doesn't really matter other than UT got an artifical boost their their team ranking, of course Butch was begging all sites to boost UT's commits, and it allowed him to say look, 2 back to back top 5 classes.

Bama's class jumped 3 spots with the new rankings without a new addition to the class, on our board that's called the "Gump Bump" Of course they deny any favortism, and if it weren't so obvious I could buy into that.

Literally zero proof other than in your noggin

Pretty sure some well heeled alums of certain schools spend some loot on making sure certain of these recruiting wonks enjoy nice golf vacations that leave them wanting more. It is not outside the realm, and if true might someday look a lot like the 1950's Pay-ola scandal in the music industry, with the recruiting analysts standing in for the DJ's.

"Hey, Tom, how was Pebble Beach? Great. By the way, Johnny Doe is going to be at the Orlando camp. Sounds like he is headed to Old State. Make sure you get a good look at him. Thanks buddy."

A couple things
1: They rarely rate KY kids high unless they commit to historically power teams
2: They love to screw over UK recruits more than anything
3: If they are too stupid to see he is one of the top players at the camps and dominated his competition then I don't really care what they say

We got one of the best in the country. Stoops is finding talent and landing talent. We have more talent this year than any team we play but 2 of them. We are going to surprise a lot of those stupid talking heads. We gonna win!!!!!

as some like JRowland said on twitter, this ranking drop doesnt matter. Drake is an outstanding center, and after redshirting in 2015 and learning from Toth he will probably be a 4 year starter in the center of our O line.

but it is hard to not be pissed off since these team ranking stuff is so heavily promoted and used to rate coaches and programs standings.

"Getting in fights was not my game plan," he said. "I think that was kind of a result of me dominating, to be honest with you. Guys that are 6-foot-7, 300 pounds and committed to Alabama aren't used to getting beaten by little, shorter guys. ... They gave me a couple of extra shoves, and I said screw that. And I went back at 'em."

"Guys were like, 'Man, who's this guy?' And I was like, 'Well, you better know who I am.' And I showed them who I was."

Jalen Hurd should be proof, may have been top 250, but was not one of the top backs in the country, and not a person outside of UT fans will disagree with that statement. But you are correct, no written proof, but UT kids getting almost as much of a bump as Bama kids is enough.

Means nothing. He is still exactly the same player he was 6 weeks ago. His contributions to our football program will be what they will be, regardless of his Rivals rating. These ratings are not nearly as important as the fact that our coach likes him enough to sign him.

Heavily promoted by whom? Recruiting is a means to an end. Most people understand that.

Heavily promoted by the recruiting services?

Jauk some of them are pretty good, but quite a few of them are nothing more than writers who aren't very good judges of athletes or football players. They just thing big means you are better and faster means better. Some are actually pretty decent at evaluating WR and DB, but my Mama couldn't pick out the best ones at those positions too, its the Lines they have a real problem with. Its get the qb, no threat of a run and the DL goes all out to rush the passer. Sure there are times its obvious passing in games too, but most of the time there is an instant of having to check for the run. That doesn't happen in camps.

This is one area where I think that 24/7 does it right with their composite rankings. They give their grade then also a composite grade which is the average of all the ranking services.
As I've said so many times...there aren't many things more subjective than ranking the thousands upon thousands of high school players. Hell, even when these guys compete against one another in Summer camps they are doing so in helmets only.
What are your criteria for rankings? Are you ranking them as how good they are today or how you project them to develop in the future?

We should all know that the rankings of individual players is HIGHLY inaccurate...but class rankings overall are a pretty good. If it bothers a player that he is ranked lower than he thinks he should be then that player can prove it on the field.

Currently Rivals has UK's class ranked 14th, 247 has them 17th.

So it is just grumpy granny's opinion. ok......you're entitled. Of course you disagree with folks like Eddie George, Jesse Palmer, and Kirk Herbstreit........but hey.....you are the opinion man.

btw........you still skipped any proof to your original post. Nice try at deflection.

So, in your noggin I assume you would rather have Hurd than Chubb, right?

Chubb is special. Hurd is a very good running back......899 yards his freshman year (missed 3 games injured) and a 4.7 YPC.

221 yds receiving.

I'm guessing you'd take that.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Boom surpass Hurd's stats this year, especially receiving, and see Hurds number drop with the new RB. After all, the new RB was a Bama commit, lol.

. Missing 3 games, really odd, UT's site has him playing in 12 games and gaining 777 yards. He is an average SEC back that could have started on 2, maybe 3 teams in the SEC last year. But I am not sure, a couple of those teams had backs with better stats. Kamara is a different story, He is very good and the best back UT has.

As for as Butch begging to have his commits upgraded, of course there is no written proof, it would do away with any credibility the service had, after the mass exodus by players from the 14 class its probably top 30 now, 15 is on the way to that before the season even starts.

in other words, saying Butch was begging is just BS you made up. Some people might call that an out and out lie.

btw........i'm guessing st. mark, Stoops, and every other coach in D1 do what they can do get higher rankings.

As to Hurd's yards, 899 included the bowl game. He was hurt, but didn't miss 3 games. Only 5 rushes vs. Vandy, 11 rushes vs Mizzou, and 2 rushes vs. UTC.
