my expectations are more tempered than some, and I kinda understand the logic of paying Stoops the money he is being paid. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he *should* be paid that, but I firmly believe the money is to insure UK isn't an SEC doormat and keep fan interest to the point they pack the stadium , travel and get a decent bowl game - not to be SEC champion. UK has several challenges when it comes to football starting with in state talent. The coach of KY is going to have to build his team from Ohio, Florida and the transfer portal, and he has to make UK a destination if he wants to be successful.
But you can't have last night....ever. The bar for UK is to compete for second in the SEC east. Yea, people can argue with me that we should be aiming higher and that's fine - I'm pragmatic about the whole thing and I don't think its realistic given our history to believe that we're going to be contending with whoever - its Georgia for now, but another school will eventually take their place whether its Tennessee or Florida for the fighting to represent the SEC in the College Playoff. But I will say we're past celebrating a 7 win season which goes back to why last night can't ever happen.
