Did Stoops lose the Kentucky faithful tonight?

This is a season on the brink. I do not foresee Stoops being able to regroup over the bye week and turn this one around. He's just too comfortable and too content with things as is to demand better from his players, his assistant coaches, and from hims.
Maybe, maybe not. Only time will tell.
The SEC is a nasty grind man. Georgia and Missouri are no jokes and neither are TN and Bama. Its hard winning football games in this conference. Just ask Jimbo.

Any idea what the turning point was? Looked promising for awhile but we’ve seriously regressed and I don’t see any fire in CMS.
I don't really believe in "turning points" to be honest.

1. Teams have improved that UK has consistently beaten. USCjr is better last year than they were under Muschamp. Mizzou has improved as well.
2. UK fell back last year....,mainly due to special teams and offense under Scangerello.
3. I'd argue this year.....the offense still isn't good enough even with Coen. We have a one dimensional run game and that is it......very bad passing offense again. I'd argue Woodard has been a shitty WR coach (last year was brutal unit as well).

In the end, SEC is a tough gig for a UK coach. All programs expect to beat UK and it's hard to climb up over UGA, Tenn has found the right guy probably....and Mizzou, USC, etc will not sit back an let coaches lose. They'll fire and start over.

In short, unless you are Georgia or Alabama expect down yrs in this buzzsaw of a conference

I've thought he was a tactically inept coach who could recruit from the start. Now I've convinced
myself the lure of the increasingly strong SEC is what improved our recruiting. I'd like a new
coach but it would be hard to fire him.

Its the wild day and age of basically pay for play. Stoops shouldnt have said what he said but he aint wrong. He’ll learn, but being an HC in this wild wild west of a sport is 10 times tougher now. Stoops will adapt, will UK supporters?
The landscape is different, but UM is not a team that has NIL'ed themselves into a superior roster. We were beaten at home by better coaching through adjustments Mizzou made after our incredible first quarter. Also, lack of discipline has nothing to do with NIL or the transfer portal. That is 100% on HC.

Finally, if AD and HC's in BB and FB can't succeed with the income brought in through the SEC TV deals, there is nothing that UK fanbase can do for them...UK supporter's have no impact when faced with an athletic department that can't hire coaches that can recruit and develop players to play competitive conference ball.

GBB!

My thing is, why did people think we were winning this game? Missouri beat a ranked Kansas State squad earlier in the year and had better QB play than we do. I thought this year they had our number.

Not defending Stoops with that, though, because it's downright ridiculous how much he can't recruit the QB position consistently in his time here.
Because Mizzou is not a good football team, and we were playing them in a night game at Kroger field.

The season rides on the UT game. Lose that and we will be mailing it in for the season. Some guys seemed to be not giving it their all tonight down the stretch

The problem is we are stuck with stoops because he is so far priced out of the market for his abilities. At least someone could scoop up cal based on his long resume of winning in the reg season.

maybe we have a one dimensional running game because the QB can't put together a passing game - whether its on him or our receivers

and our tight ends could get involved to other than blocking and holding penalties

they were talking about having to build up Leary's confidence - after 6 games in the season and we were 5-0, and I guess the only realistic way to do that is simplify the playbook.

I'm actually kind of pissed, now that I think about it. I'm old enough to remember Bill Curry and how bad we can be. We were losers but we knew it and had no expectations. But Stoops gave us hope. No more "old Kentucky ". We can win close games! Ten win seasons! Then he proceeds to drop turds like this. We beat up on down programs and cupcakes. That is his key to success.
It's the truth. Stoops took advantage of a down florida program, a Missouri program who lost their all-time most winningest coach who won the SECE twice. In Gary Pinkel. And a downsliding USC program led by an aging Stever Spurrier who's best years at USC were behind him. Not to mention a middling UGA program led my Mark Richt.

Hell, we gave Calipari a lifetime contract for mediocrity, might as well gives Stoops one...

Calipari actually won a title and 4 final fours before his. He lacked the 2nd title but so did Smith, hall and pitino. Not sure how anyone can argue the results as of 2018 were mediocrity. Tells me you weren't paying attention then or aren't even a uk basketball fan.

As for Stoops I thought he may have peaked in 2021 and figured he wouldn't do better than 9 and 3 due to sec and lack of talent on the field and overall coaching staff. He's way better overall than our history so it is what it is.

He’s also paid much more than anyone in our history. His staff is paid more than anyone in our history. He has better facilities than anyone in our history. He has more resources than anyone in our history. I wish my job made me the highest paid person at their position and only asked me to be better than the guy who only showed up 2 days a week.

I just don't think you can objectively call any 6-1 team "not good" at this point, especially a team that hasn't really beaten up on as many cupcakes as we have. Missouri may not be an amazing team but they are better than we are at a lot of facets of it, hence why they won.

I was there and certainly did not hear any booing. But that was a really crappy performance by Kentucky, got outscored 38-7 in the last 3 quarters, and 18-0 in the 4th quarter, when we actually had the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.

OT a bit, but Leary was really wildly overrated.
Must have been your bathroom break time because the boos came thru loud and clear on the tv.

The fans pack Commonwealth Stadium and do their part. The team and coaches play scared and get destroyed at UGA. Then Stoops chimes in with the "pony up" comment and in one fell stroke throws his players under the bus and blames fans for not giving enough money. Then this dog vomit of a game. Yeah fans aren't too pleased.
Dog vomit ... very accurate description

I’m not out on Stoops yet but I’m pretty pissed. Still think we’re better than MSU abd UofL and maybe SCar. I think we have a real shot at UT at home as well.

Starting next season,, Stoops will be paid a top 10 salary of 9+ million for 5-7,, 6-6 teams in the new SEC.. Actually looking like that trend starts this year.. I honestly don't see them winning more than 1 more this year..

I think that the combination of his comments last week that suggested the fans needed to give more money if they want to compete and the general time he took with the caller that dared to question the style of play that we employ will not make many fans super happy with him. He's getting to be a arrogant prick .he doesn't take responsibility, and talking down to fans is never the right answer when he's putting out a lackluster product. I mean the fans were out in the rain on a cold Kentucky night to witness that BS, hell I wouldn't be at the next one .

I've been a UK fan for a long time. I've watched some pretty terrible teams but I always liked our players. Watching the game tonight, for the first time ever I thought, "I really don't like this team." If they weren't wearing blue I would swear they were UL players. Minus Davis and Leary who seem like good guys, it's hard to cheer for them.
