Destin Wade to the portal

He was more highly regarded in other positions coming out of HS, I would never suggest a young man shouldn't strive for his dreams, but from what we have seen so far- for him to even have a chance he needs to be in more of a spread style offense that uses his arm and legs. He definitely not a pro style QB

Was never gonna play here.

Our next starter will be from portal and rinse and repeat a lot of seasons.

Family. It's about family & blood. Don't blame Keaton whatsoever trying to find a place with his brother.

Doesn't say much for UK's quarterback development. I don't remember too many quarterbacks Stoops' program has developed ? It is what it is I guess.

Keaton leaving too
This one hurts. While his productivity dropped off the second half of the year he overall had a good season. But what frets me is in one day UK lost three mid-TN players. Mid-TN needs to be a key UK recruiting area, not that far from Lexington and a very up and coming fertile prospects area. Stoops needs to get refocused there. That's the big picture in this thing.

Destin was never going to play QB here from the beginning, that was the only way to get them here and away from UT. Apparently a very good athlete, wish he could have been persuaded to switch positions. Losing Keaton hurts, looks like Fearby will have to step up.

Think we all kind of saw this coming. Destin proved that he was a long way from being a starting SEC QB in the bowl game last year. Doesn't excuse Stoops and the offensive staff NEVER developing a QB2 or QB3. What can we expect when those guys very rarely play and, when they do, they only get to hand off 3 times before punting?

Keaton looked like he belonged and had some good plays throughout the year. Needs more development but I could see him getting a lot of snaps next year (and the one after). Depends on where they end up but I would think moving down would hurt Keaton's potential pro career as the his development will most likely be slowed down by playing against lesser competition. JMHO

There was a UT poster here who said they'd wind up at UT. We will see. He may have been right.

Noah Matthews will figure here too. Irony is Keaton was likely to have been a big focus with the '24 D.

I don't get it. Keaton progressed nicely and Destin isn't playing QB at any major school. So either they transfer down or they're going somewhere that presents the same issue as the one at UK.

The real answer is change positions and both stay.
This is a head scratcher? Keaton would have been one of our t5 defensive players next year while Destin needs to have CTJ moment that he isn't a qb like Gatewood did.

If Destin is starting QB when they play us, then that's not a bad trade. If he is willing to switch positions then I don't know why he wouldn't consider that here with us.

So glad I didn't waste my money going to the bowl game last year. We didn't even try to win. The only gameplan was to let this guy play so his brother wouldn't transfer. And they did anyway.

I live near Nashville and never even considered going. Knew when levis and company opted out it was gonna be an awful game to watch and it lived up to it and some sadly.

I agree with you, but in this case, I think both can be true. We do not develop QBS and also he would be best served switching positions. I always hate talking negatively about young men, nothing wrong with them believing in themselves, but, it doesn't always work out. The twins could have been successful here, hate to see them go

It was brutal. I am still very angry about it. And I have sat through some pitiful UK games including the Vandy home debacle with Joker.
I took my kids and I don’t regret going, only because the kids and I made a nice memory together going to a Kentucky bowl game and we’re local so we didnt have to travel to get there.

But man, that game was atrocious and like someone said before we didn’t try to win. It did feel like Wade got the start to keep his brother, because otherwise why not Sheron? What an absolute waste.

And everyone here thought Gatewood was the savior...no turns out he can't play qb either and there was nothing to develop, even under legendary qb bear brohm

The bigger question to me is in what world was Destin Wade ever a 4 star....at what exactly? Even the proverbial "athlete" category....he showed zero athlete in the Music City Bowl game. He ran away from nobody in that game, his arm is ho-hum, accuracy...nope.

I get the feeling his rating was this twin brother thing with Keaton...who is a legit 4 * recruit at LBer IMO.

They were a package deal and it was a risky move for UK.
It will be for anyone. His brother is NOT playing qb at a P5 school so if his P5 talent brother is OK with not playing P5...they should go for it so his brother can play qb. Good luck to them. Maybe they'll prove everyone wrong, but I doubt it.
