Dane key in the portal

This Is Fine GIF

I’m expecting Key to see who is interested, I also think that he will weigh his options in the NFL

False. The guy is just a decent reciever

UGA will be losing 2 starters, likely a backup. Signed some good frosh WR but Kirby isn't big on playing frosh if there is an option. I don't know if UGA is is choice, but losing alot of snaps and production off 24 team. Going to hit portal for a QB too I think. Our offense is so inconsistent the backups got basically no snaps.

Rowland mentioned LSU/TN among possibilities for Key.

He will land at some other SEC school and absolutely cook next year. Meanwhile, our recruiting hound, Vince Marrow, will soon tweet out that we should just “trust that we have big things coming” shortly before a surprise flip of some dude that barely cracks a 3-star rating and had offers from Bowling Green and Toledo.
Hope he ends up at Ohio State and out of the SEC. But my bet is South Carolina since that was where he almost committed to before it another SEC team like Ole Miss/UT or Texas to play w Arch

It would suck to be a receiver for this program. We've had one decent QB since Andre Woodson.

Unless South Carolina just opens up the bank I don't see him going there. If he's looking for helping his draft stock, Tennessee and LSU would be much better options. If I was a top receiver and wanted to go to the NFL I wouldn't come to UK. Limited snaps means limited targets. Always one of the slowest teams in the nation. Twelve year body of work to know this isn't a good spot for an elite wide out

Good talent gets drafted regardless of where they play.
It doesn't hurt to put up good numbers. Limited targets means limited opportunities to showcase skills. We must have only had two "good talent" wide receivers in the last 12 years. That's the number we've had drafted in the Stoops era and one of those was more of a multi-position player who didn't last but maybe a year in the league. The other one played under a future NFL offensive coordinator and he did put up good numbers here. We must of recruited that position very poorly if we've only had two good talents here in 12 years.

Yeah he will have some options and both will pay better than we will. Only thing we have going is his GF being a UGA softball player.
Hate to see him go as UK needs good players but apparently this has been the plan for some time, play 2-3 years at UK then transfer out for Sr year. Of course, some of our bunch are using it as another excuse to slice and dice Stoops. I remember his Dad, really good player. Actually a better athlete than Dane.

He is one of the best receivers out there and a Ky kid but I don't blame him for leaving a sinking ship.

I don’t think transferring out was the plan for some time. I think 3 years and then go to the draft was always the plan.

I’ll be interested where he ends up and what his production ends up being there. I think he’s a possession receiver, albeit a high level one, who I didn’t think has the speed to make a nfl roster. Maybe he’s a better route runner than I gave him credit for and he could make a team. Good luck going forward!

Maclin was a much worse loss. Key was very undisciplined and quit about 4 games ago. I'm surprised he didn't just leave the team mid season.

He is a good player, but we UGA has to find a QB. I Think the plan is a portal guy if they can find one. He is a good player and if he joins it will improve UGA's roster. Kirby's big question is can he block?

False. The guy is just a decent reciever

Imo he has alot of work to do before hes dominating at uga. First he has to get on the field. That requires an attitude adjustment because most staffs dont tolerate the nonsense penalties.

He stood out for UK, but at uga hes just another guy. Will be interesting to see if he will put in the work. If it isnt there, its nil imo. No way he gets more opportunity anywhere else than UK.

Side note: im sure brock is trying to get back to uga @Grumpyolddawg . Curious on of he'd be welcomed back by the staff.

He is a good player, UGA has a couple receivers in the 6'2"+ side, one just signed and Kirby doesn't like playing true frosh, so I'll be some snap for a guy like him. We actually have a good NIL deal passed by the governor, but that goes to defensive players mostly it appears. I don't fully understand the NIL thing but in state schools are allowed to use different funding and it overrides the NCAA rules. Basically our governor flipping off the NCAA.

I can't blame him, AT ALL, surprised he waited this long, Brock is the worst QB we've had at UK for the past decade or more, there was just no one on the roster that could get him the ball.

He's capable of a 700+ yard season, easily, with 6-8TDs, good enough.
I guess I have a different idea of what dominate means. He's a "fringe top 100 talent" according to ProFootballNetwork and he was projected in the 3rd round last I saw. A dominant receiver goes in the 1st round (Harrison Jr., Nabers).

He'll have to set himself apart from the other Georgia WRs... Right now, Georgia is set to land Wiley, Talyn Taylor, Tyler Williams, Landon Roldan, and Thomas Blackshear. Taylor and Wiley are rated as top-150 players in the country, Roldan has become a star in the state of Georgia, and Williams and Blackshear bring some impressive traits to the table as well.

This does not include the guys that they have possibly returning, Bell, Lovett, and Smith.

Cummings’ synopsis: “Entering the 2025 NFL Draft cycle, Key grades out as a fringe top-100 prospect who could command late Day 2 or early Day 3 capital. And with added growth as a route runner, there’s a chance he could rise farther up into the Day 2 range.”

Key has good hands but lack speed and separation quickness. I consider him Elite for UK but in the big scope of receivers nation wide he is very middle of the pack IMO.

We were going to play faster this year, we were told. I guess it wasn't a total lie. We went from THE slowest in the country at 55 offensive plays per game to 26th slowest at 63 plays per game. Blistering pace!

Dominate? Georgia gets the best of the best. Five star elite receivers with speed, he quit, that’s how I look at it. No big loss, I don’t want anyone here that’s not going to work to improve the team. Gilmore, Maclin, will fit right in.

The team isn't improving, at least not next season. Schedule is brutal and we won't have an offense yet again.

Dominate was probably hyperbole but wherever he goes with a competent offense I think he will do very well.

Key was a decent talent who demonstrated immature and undisciplined play just about every week on the field, so I’m fairly confident he provided the same attitude and behavior in the locker room and program as a whole.

It was obvious we had some players being a big problem within the program and Key was likely a big part of that. Maclin eluded to a lack or overall leadership in the program…and that goes beyond the coaches.

Seems like he’s always catching a ball with a defender draped all over him. Why can’t he get more open? I think we have some guys who can be good receivers if they don’t leave (Macklin is also leaving).
Yeah this is what I was thinking too. He's really good in traffic and catches everything but not a separation guy and the higher level he goes the tougher it will be for him IMO. But you need one guy like him on the field for sure.

Yeah Dane is a good solid guy but not an All American game breaker type. He catches everything and really good in red zone and short fields but I dont know about any dominating stuff.

Dane will forever be a Wildcat. He has been a great ambassador for UK and Stoops certainly gave Dane the reigns early. If our OL and QB play had been better this year, I think Dane would have been a 1,000 yard WR. I will cheer for him wherever he goes.

Dane is who he is. He's not some amazing, stud WR that's been held back at UK. He's a fine WR that can likely benefit some from going to a better program. I don't see him becoming a star for his new team though.
