Destin Wade is not ready for this

I expected this to be a tough outing for Destin . But I have to admit, I never expected him to look this slow and unathletic. Reminds me a lot of Joey Gatewood .

He completed more passes today than Gatewood has in his whole career. He's much better than him by far.

Wade won’t be the backup next year. I doubt he ever starts another game at QB, especially with Coen coming in.

I know we won't do it but we really need a backup TRUE QB out of the portal. No more athletes who are trying to become a QB.

I think it is way too early to write Destin off. I do question what the coaching staff is doing to prepare the back up QB.

I don't think a future starting QB is on this roster.

Oh they may start…. But whether there is an SEC-caliber starter on the current roster is very unlikely.

Wade threw 2 TD passes today, problem was they were to the wrong colored jersey.

A true freshman and he gave great effort, but not as athletic as I thought he would be and does not seem to have the arm

Yep. Same reason we targeted brown 16 times. Staff is selling out for a handful of kids.

I was shocked at the lack of speed. He looked way more polished than I anticipated but we were led to believe he was much more athletic. Jmo but his best bet is on defense.

I see other young qbs with the play fake rollout, dump off to the TE. Nobody uses their TEs less than Uk.

Must agree. Woodward did not impress. Iowa excelled at protecting Labas with play selection. We threw Wade to the wolves. Ultimately, it makes no difference in anything. Perhaps we just wanted to let Wade have a reality check and "growth experience". Maybe his decision making was so suspect we kept him throwing the ball downfield so INTs would adjust field position, or have less chance of going to the house? 🤣 I still saw the potential for him to be an effective QB in '24. That was a great defense he had to stare down today. You only get better at doing it by doing it.
