Magic will always be Magic to me... Irving "Magic" Johnson... Even in High School he had that Magic smile. (He is two years older than I am but I got real close to him a couple times in high school...) (Our schools never played but I got a chance to go to a couple tournament games and he was there.) He ALWAYS had that Magic smile... as long as I can remember and I remember him before he became well known...
Irving Johnson, Michael Jordan, and Larry Bird (Larry Bird because he could play but Magic and Michael have so much respect for him... Just a bunch of other great basketball players as well but those stand out to me. (Remember Dr. J as well but that was early for me...)

As a kid I got to see Wilt. He was super impressive. Also saw Bob Pettit. Bob had a bad game and stayed after to practice shooting. He was the only player to stay and sign autographs. Stayed till every kid got one.

Chemo this afternoon. Leave here around 11:30 am. What a way to end the year. Still plan on drinking a beer tonight.

Happy New Year’s Eve. Well look back on 2024 as a lot of things, but at least we aren’t looking back on the year either an Alzheimer’s zombie or a weird cackling DEI hire got directed president. Sorry if too political for D-League. Just how I’m feeling this morning.
On a personal level, lots of joy with some sadness. I hope 2025 is a better year for all of us.

Oh, and by the way, just in case some did not know, the game today is on ESPNU at 1 o'clock central time. I Was not myself aware of the time until I saw it this morning.

I never could palm the ball nor jump much more than off my toes. The good thing, I can still jump off my toes but about what I could when I was "young".
A slow work day for once. I made a command decision and told all my people to work from home but be available.
I am thankful and am taking a couple hours off today anyway. Doing some required training while it's quiet.
Have a blessed last day of 2024...

The only thing I could do good at basketball was put a lot of effort into it. 😁
Next to Musial, Larry Jackson was my favorite player growing up. I think he still holds the record for most wins by a pitcher who never played for a first place team. In spring trading of 1961, he was pitching to Duke Snider. The bat broke and splintered. Part of it went through Jackson's jaw, breaking his jaw in two places. Oddly, a few weeks later after the season started, Snider was facing Bob Gibson , when Gibson broke Snyder's arm with a fastball.
About that time frame I could jump up and grab the rim with a running jump but could only dunk a tennis ball. It is one thing to be able to palm the basketball, it is another to be able to do it while running and jumping. Now my brother who was an inch taller than me (at 5' 7") in high school could dunk it with two hands. We both had some ups.
I have four inches on you height-wise and on my best day I could sometimes and I mean sometimes touch the net. (Guess it had to do with if I had gone to the bathroom properly that day.)

Well, I only weighed about 140 maybe 145lbs. My brother and I used to jump fences in people back yards in Louisville. The normal chain link 4' fences and clear them for fun. We used to play a lot of basketball, so we worked on our leaping ability.
What's up with the rebounding today? Brown +11 at halftime.
Almost doubled the point spread, that takes away second chances but I get your point.
Never a doubt in my un-basketball educated mind anyway...
Much better effort in the 2nd half. They needed a bounce back game like this heading into SEC play. 4 of first 5 will be against ranked opponents. Buckle up.

Was thinking about some old movies today and had a funny thought, well at least I thought it was. Would be hilarious if somebody did a Ron Burgundy on Joe Bidum like they did the movie where he read everything on the teleprompter!

I’m out for my first walk of the year. I just saw a grouping of ten White Tail deer cantering past. It seems odd to me for so many deer to cluster together, but I guess their behavior has changed with no predators and people all around.
It’s a work day for me. But should be able to catch most of the football. Hope you all have a good one.

The game turned out pretty good after a slow start. It was good to see some of the non starters get more time. It seemed that Pope purposely played Perry more this game. I hope that is not an indicator on Kerr's health.
I've been pretty sick since Christmas. Flu I guess. I finally got on here and posted a few days ago, but it didn't go through and I didn't have the energy to try it again. lol I'm not use to being this sick, but thankfully I'm retired and I don't have to try to get back in the game ASAP.

I worked at the "atomic plant" west of Paducah for 12 years. During hunting season, seeing groups of 20 or 30 deer huddled beside the plant perimeter fence was common. They knew they wouldn't get shot at there.
