Cats looked good last night. Exciting basketball returns to the Bluegrass. Can hardly wait for next Tuesday's game.

Attending a soccer match early this evening: USA Women's National Team vs Iceland. Match starts at 6:30 pm. Plan on walking 2.2 miles one-way to Q2 Arena.

I liked what I saw but, remain reserved until we play a good team. Shooting was definitely better than in recent years. Now we need to see if they can get open shots when playing a team with a better defense.

Ditto here. But I like the hustle and the unselfish play. I don't recall UK ever shooting 50% from three especially when they take that many.

I remember Pitino's first year. UK was on probation and the Cats just played loose and shot the light out. I hope that happens again this year.

It is 43.5°F here as the sun comes up. Clear and on our way to a slighter cooler 72°.

Up early to head to Cumberland Falls this morning for a group hike. It's about a 2.5 hour drive. Should be a great day to hike there.

I've been to the lake all week. Fishing was not good, but the squirrel hunting was successful. While there I listened to the pre-game, watched the entire game (on phone, ugh) and listened to the entire wrap up. I can't remember the last time I've done that. Awesome start to the Pope era. Going to be hard to pick a favorite player this year. I sure hope the fans don't find a whipping boy out of this group.

Enjoy your stay at the falls. My daughter and son in law were there last week. The daughter plays volley ball for Buffalo. She is a tall girl. She says she is 5'11", but I think she is 6'.

I work in technology. I'm with you though. I do have a "smart" phone an android and the cheapest one I could find. Did buy My Darling an iPhone and she likes it. Everything I do on my phone I normally send it to my computer and type on a keyboard. I text a little on my phone but I despise using a phone to do what I do on my computer. I use multiple fingers to type and learned that on my own. "Ain't" into using my thumbs to type like I see so many "kids" doing... "Ain't" no monkey...

I have come to seriously enjoy unsweetened coconut milk in my coffee. I buy the stuff in cans by the case.

Just tried a new brand I didn't like as much due to it being so watery. That is the first one: (The one I just tried and didn't like as much as the one I have drank a couple cases of..)

This is the one I have been using in my coffee for a good long while now. Probably all of 2024.

Just blows my mind at the difference in ingredients...

Good morning folks. Getting ready to enjoy my last full day at Niagara Falls. Took the boat ride up to the mouth of the falls yesterday. You get quite a sense of the power of the water —along with a thorough soaking if you insist on standing where we did. We also spent a few hour walking around the American side of the falls which is a beautiful state park. And last night we spent about an hour sitting down at the edge of the falls watching a dazzling light show as beams lit up the water in various colors. Fun times.

We may range out to some old towns in Ontario that are supposed to be lovely.

Supposed to help lower blood pressure because of the potassium levels in it. Been working on trying to get mine down naturally because of the side effects of Metropolol and Lisinipril. Had one (Metropolol) prescribed by my family doctor and the other (Lisinopril) by a heart doctor. Did not like either because of side effects. However, was using Lisinipril when I was running out and called for a renewal from my heart doctor's office 3 times and in each case, they said a nurse would call me back and let me know when it was sent to my pharmacy. Never received the call either time and have not taken any for about 3 weeks now.

Blood pressure in now averaging a little above 140/85. I will take that number and work on natural ways to lower it. Have an appointment with the heart doctor in mid-November but might just say screw it if I get the blood pressure down a bit.

I have twelve cans of this stuff left. Checked Walmart and the half gallon coconut milk I used to buy doesn't have the crap in it and it's cheaper too. I used to use that. Put milk in my coffee this morning. Been having twinges on my right side but very slight. My VA doc ran extra blood tests and a urinalysis. Came back fine but now I think I know.

That Metabisulphite crap is a killer.

"Sodium metabisulphite (SMBS), the commercially produced salt of sulphurous acid, is a preservative used to extend the shelf life of meat products such as fresh sausages and burgers, even though it can have adverse effects on some people, especially asthmatics."

Just HORRIBLE what the FDA and USDA allow in American food. All for kickbacks...

Eye exposure to sodium metabisulfite may result in redness, tearing or moderate eye irritation.  Inhalation - The inhalation of sodium metabisulfite dusts can cause nose and throat irritation or coughing. Repeated or prolonged exposures may cause sore throat or nosebleeds. Inhalation may also cause severe respiratory reactions and aggravate asthma or other breathing diseases.  Ingestion - The ingestion of sodium metabisulfite may cause irritation of the mouth and throat, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.  Other Effects - The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has not classified sodium metabisulfite as a carcinogen (cancer causing).

Also read where it causes serious liver issues which is my concern.


For about 13 or 14 dollars I will trash it. Darn, I was thinking about just finishing it off but that is stupid since I have a good idea this is what is causing my issues. I really watch what I eat. I just eat too much.

My Darling made pancakes for me and the BB this morning. My daughter dropped him off so she could hit the gym. I cut it to three instead of six. Been doing that type stuff for a couple months now. Dropped 15 pounds without trying. Still eat what I want, just cut the portions. Want to get back to 205. Twenty pounds to go...

Another baseball story. It is told by Billy Sunday the baseball player turned evangelist. It involves Ned Williamson, one of baseball's biggest stars in the 1880's. After the season a group of players took a trip to tour Europe. As Sunday told it, on the way home there come a great storm and the ship was rocking. They all thought they might die. Ned was a large man and he put on 2 life vests and one on his wife. He was a big drinker and he told God that if He let him live, he would quit drinking forever. The skies Immediately cleared and the winds died down.

When they got home, Ned bought a tavern in Chicago and went back to his old ways. Sunday said every time he did a revival in Chicago, he would stop by and see Ned. Ned would cry like a baby, but he just couldn't quit his ways. Ned died a young man from liver complications and TB. Sunday said Ned's liver was hard as a rock and huge.

I've got nothing against IU. Only team in B1G I'd prefer beating them is Purdue just because GD goes there. But they're awful. UK & PU would be a titanic struggle with 3-0 being most likely score.
