Touchdown! Bringing the Smoke!

Hey Coach Stoops: I’m watching two games. Youngstown would beat Nebraska fairly comfortably. Better hang on to your good thing.
In spite of what some may say I think Mitch and Stoops have a very good relationship and Stoops enjoys working with him. It is going to take more than a Nebraska to get Stoops to leave a good thing and a good relationship like he has with this AD. IMO

Good morning folks. Lovely weather in the east. JUst back from a long hike.

Gameday -- and I hope a stress-free one filled with Rooster's blue sparks and Warrior's artillery barrages. I saw on ESPN the Cats had a 97 percent chance to win. That made me wonder what Texas A&M'S and Notre Dame's chances to win were last week.

Not a ton of great games today. I guess I'll watch the Oklahoma-Nebraska game out of nostalgia for the 1970s and 1980s when that was one of about six games everyone looked forward to - Ohio State-Michigan, Florida-Tennessee, USC-UCLA, Oklahoma-Texas, Nebraska-Oklahoma, Notre Dame-Miami. I hate that some of those regional rivalries have been diminished, but others are still vital.

Loved the photo of the VW on fire, Sawnee. The Volkswagen company certainly produced some iconic vehicles that were part of our teen-age experience in the 1970s. As a young college kid I started seeing a woman who was already in her mid-20s, and she had one of those VW Things - the square-angled convertible with corrugated looking sides. It was like a stripped down Nazi staff car. But pretty cool. Right after that I was part of a clique that revolved around a guy with a VW Van. Good Times. Maybe. Actually, my mind's a blank.

Hope its a good day for all.

MdW be singing WILD THING, you make my heart sing...you make EVERYTHING..... 😅

Not this one either...

Had biscuits and coffee this morning and hit the road...

I kept up with the score some. My Darling, the BB, and I hit FIVE markets... Got the groceries we need for a bit. (It's been a few weeks since we made the rounds.)

Just had a piece of pecan pie (Too much sugar). I guess I will have to make my own as I'd rather taste the pecans... (Store bought from Walmart is a no no unless you want to eat nearly a bag of sugar and some crust with a sprinkle if pecans...)

Going to take about another 30 minutes to settle down from the driving and then pull my Mazda in the garage and see what I can do with the serpentine and water pump belts... (Decided against the water pump and thermostat replacement though I think I may drain my coolant and refill it if the Toyota coolant I have works on the Mazda. (I will have to check.). (I have that on my garage shelf where I bought too much when I changed the Camry coolant.)

Go CATS!!!

@55wildcat

Just hit one of my luckiest bets ever...I had Oklahoma-11 (Oklahoma covered easily) parlayed with the over in the Syracuse vs Purdue game was 59.5. I had gave up on hitting the over in the Syracuse game, they had a combined 19 points after 3 quarters. 42 points for the two teams in the 4th quarter. Syracuse had to hit a 25 yard pass with 12 seconds left to get me the points.

Got the serpentine and water pump belts changed. The car drove so all seems okay. (Sliced my arm a little, my oldest acted like I needed the emergency room. Had to laugh at her and nicely tell her to leave me alone, I was fixing my cuts longer than she was old. (Even IF she is a CRNA.) Had to borrow a 17mm open-ended wrench for the tensioner. I had the sockets but they wouldn't fit within the confines of the engine compartment. All my tool set wrenches went to was 16mm.

May do the coolant tomorrow, may not. Have to mow the back 40 (About 500 square feet but it sounded better saying the back 40 ;).) I won't even go into the gardening My Darling has been doing. I think she is preparing for shortages. ;) (Yeah I ate the rest of the sugar pie. Can't waste it...)(Two grand babies are here (The BB and the Little BB.) and I so would like a Yuengling or three but won't.)

You did not watch it?

You are not a Kentucky fan dude.

GEEZE.

Said I didn't watch it all, was flipping around due to some bets. Probably saw about 3 quarters worth...Seen Kentucky play a lot of lesser opponents over the years and have trouble stopping them. So I will take a shut out as a solid game any day...not sure missing about a quarter of a game never in doubt makes me not a fan (of course I wouldn't miss a snap of an SEC game or Louisville game). I sports bet quite a bit, especially during college football season, so I did have a little trouble not taking a peek several times at other games going on.

I agree with you I wish the offensive would have played better but I was just saying I thought it was solid game not great. Maybe some of the team had a little hangover from such a big win at Florida the week before. I always enjoy your opinions on things here, so don't take this as arguing with you, just wanted to explain cause your post caught me off guard.

My major worry going forward is the injuries.

I agree, I think overall during his tenure...Stoops hasn't been too unlucky with injuries, sometimes you see a team just get decimated with them.

Brooks had a team once where the whole buildup to the season was how good they thought the offensive line was going to be and it was going to be the best unit on our team and then like 3 or 4 of them got hurt...I think fairly early in the season. Really hurt us. Although, that was when our teams didn't have a lot of depth, so we couldn't absorb hardly any injuries to our best players. Says a lot about how far the program has come that CRod has to sit out and we can still go down to Florida and get a win.

I do believe and say this with utmost confidence that he was pulling your leg. Check to see if one is now longer than the other (more than before that is).

Morning legionnaires!

Temps remain in the high 90's for the next 4 or 5 days. Could still hit 100° next day or two. I know it is still summer but...I need my cooler weather.

Sore all over as I have "tweaked" my workout regimen this week to avoid the plateau effect where you start losing instead of gaining or maintaining.

Fished once this week but will try to get a couple of days in this upcoming week. In laws were over yesterday so my wife made pasta with Alfredo sauce for them. Meat on the side for us Cro-mags. They come over most weekends these days. Oh, The Humanity!

Enjoy the day folks and here's to hoping the Bengals can get a win today in Dallas. We did not go because the man we were going with mother-in-law passed away earlier in the week, so we decided to go another weekend.

I was pulling his leg. I think he knew that and he took it well.

In my den I have one TV on top of the other. On many game days I put UK on the 75" and another game/s that I am interested in on the top 50". Yesterday Georgia vs USC was on the top TV.

It is a cool 59.0°F on its way to 85°F. I got a game and post game to edit after I finish Fox and Friends. I look forward to re-watching it to see how bad I misjudged things yesterday.

You all have a good Sunday.

Good morning D-League. Beautiful in the east.

As I watched some of college football’s better teams yesterday after watching the Cats I began to feel my concern over the O-line rising. You aren’t going to beat SEC teams with Levis just chucking the ball all day. And I don’t think CRod will solve everything. Ah well. Just have to wait and see.

Taking it a little easy today. Hope all is well with you folks.

The O Line is my concern as well. It certainly is a big drop off from last year. We lost a lot of talent. If the Cats can improve on the O Line we may be the 3rd best team in the SEC. But that has to be corrected. We will know more when we go to Ole Miss. They are much better than Florida who survived against an ordinary South Florida team.

The O-line is definitely the biggest problem going forward. They also need to clean up on ball security and turnovers. Four fumbles (only one recovered by Youngstown), and two more interceptions yesterday. You can't expect to beat good teams on the road like that.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 75°F and cloudy. Today's high expected around 97°F. No rain in our forecast for at least next 7 days. Could see 100°F temperatures again next week.

Lots of college football watched in our house yesterday. Aside from seeing our Cats, I also caught Longhorns last night. We still have leftover pizza. Good idea for lunch.

Fire truck and ambulance also showed up across street from us yesterday around noon. It appears a renter who lives in duplex may have overdosed.

Usual Sunday activities on tap. Wishing happiness and health for all our fellow D-League members.

Just back from a walk in the woods. I bumped into a neighbor I see from time to time, a retired government scientist.

I remarked at what a beautiful day it was and how the sky was so much more blue than it had been so far this week. And he says, "Yes, this is the first day the smoke from the wildfires in California cleared the jetstream over the east." I guess that would have never occurred to me, but I looked it up, and he is right. Crazy to think about that much smoke in the atmosphere, but of course there have been volcanic eruptions -- Krakatoa comes to mind -- that has cooled the planet for an entire year with the debris expelled.

I hope none of Biden's advisors stumbles on that idea. The American taxpayers will be on the hook to build massive artificial volcanoes to ignite to cool off Global Warming

Good Afternoon all,

Not been able to check the site until now. Just busy like a bee... Been hanging around My Darling and the BB. His Mom is working four nights in a row trying to make extra dough.

Had bagels and English muffins with cream cheese and butter along with a scoop of cottage cheese. for a late breakfast after church. Sipping coffee while the BB talks to his Dad.

My Darling is making salmon for me later along with some ribbon (Belt) fish for her and the BB.

Heading to the back yard shortly to knock that out. That is about all I plan today except getting ready to work tomorrow. Hopefully I can watch a few quarters of football.

I will check in later hoping all's day is going well!
