D-League

Watched the Bengals play the Steelers at Riverfront many times in the 70's and 80's. Wish I could still care.
Went to a lot of Bengals games in the 60s, 70s before I moved to Georgia. Then went to Falcons games.
Now I could care less. Used to wrap my Sunday afternoon/evening around the NFL....now I haven't watched a game for 4 years now (maybe 5). The political BS did it for me
Do you have to stand for the Black 'National Anthem'? Haven't heard.

I didn't stop watching for any political reason. Race, cops, justice, equality...none of that had anything to do with it. I quit watching because free agency destroyed any affinity I had with a team and its players. Strike was nail in the coffin. Still watch Super Bowl but for the commercials.
Dominant performance by the USA in the Ryder Cup. Loved every minute of it. USA, USA!! Yeah I'm a proud American.
Golf may be a good walk spoiled, but it's a great way to spend a Sunday on the couch.

I don't enjoy watching people who don't like me. Why does't matter much.

I'll be cooking steaks this afternoon in cast iron skillets over open flames. They won't be as good as Bert's, but they'll make a ...............nice afternoon snack.

My wife likes her steaks cooked well done. I like mine cooked properly.

When you get the urge try cooking your steaks using pine cones if you have any pine trees near. If you want a barbecued steak that is real good eating...

My Darling barbecued all our steaks like that when we lived in South Carolina. (Had our own pine cones.) Just does something extra to the steaks. (These are Chuck Eye steaks..) About all we eat.

After church today I had a nice meal with my cousin, his wife and my wife. He just returned from his 65th High School Reunion in Maryland. Forty five classmates attended the reunion.

Of course since he was in Maryland we started talking about Maryland crab cakes which are some of the best in the world. Apparently according to the discussion he had with the restaurant owner blue crabs are getting very expensive. A bushel costs about $350.00 and you have to pick them A lb of processed crab is $79.00. Crabs were so scarce they were shipping them up from Florida. The crabs he ate up there probably came only a few miles from where he lives.

We use to catch them using chicken necks and a string and could fill up a bushel in about a half hour. If you look around prices are going up by the day. I would say we are in inflation. I doubt things get any better for a long time

iu

We gave Blue crab away in South Carolina. We actually took orders as we loved catching them so much. Here I glanced a couple days ago and saw live Blue crab for 4.99 a pound. My Darling will buy a few pounds when she see's them at $1.99 or at most $2.99 a pound. (That's a lot of Blue crab.) The wife will only take the females.

We had people come visit in SC and some wanted a few bushels of crab to take back. We could find vendors all over that would sell a bushel for $40 TO $45 each.

My Darling mostly eats King Crab now anyway...

Crabs be safe(r) now...

Anyone see the ninth inning of Cards and Cubs today. Perhaps the oddest play I ever saw. Card up 4 to 2. One out and runners on first and second. Hitter pops up on infield. Third baseman falls down and fails to catch it. Ump calls infield fly rule, so hitter is out and runners can advance at their own risk. The ball is thrown to the player coverng third for the force out, except there is no force because the hitter is out. The ball is then thrown to second base where the other runner thinks the game is over and he is tagged ten feet from the base. the seco!nd based ump screws up and calls time out while the action is still happening. In the end, they put the runners on second and third with two outs. The Cards manager goes ballistic and is eventually kicked out of the game. On a Cards messageboard, they are saying after a while the Cards manager went into his version of the F Biden chants. The umps would not give an explanation after the game. Luckily the next batter struck out to end the game, so no real harm was done except the manager gets an automatic fine for being kicked out.

Morning Legionnaires!

Working with a new laptop this morning so bear with me for the next few days. The key board is silver with very light lettering. Can hardly see the numbers and letters. Wife ordered me an overlay yesterday that will make things easier.

Grass cutting on the job list today, been trying to hold off until the weather cooled off some more but, rain scheduled for the next few days so...

Good morning D-League.

A very pleasant day is ahead. It's currently 66° with clear skies as the sun comes up. We will have sunny skies and a high of 84° with a very low humidity for us of 52% Rain free for the next few days the girl on the radio said. You can do a lot outside today.

Austin posted exactly what I am having for breakfast and I had no idea it was Corned Beef Hash Day . I do take my eggs over easy. So let's dig in and enjoy.

I trust all are well and have a great day. This is Florida Gator week. Hope Stoops corrects those errors because the Gators are not the Cocks. Go Cats.

Hey D-League
Another work week is upon us, but I prefer to just take things one day at a time and try not to borrow trouble from the future, as the old saying goes.

It's a crisp 57 degrees outside now, headed up to a sunny 82, with low humidity from what we're used to. Believe it or not, but the weather gurus are saying we could be rain-free for the next six days.

Others have said it and I agree about the UK football Wildcats needing to correct their mistakes in practice this week. Silly mistakes and lack of focus on individual assignments will be exposed by a team like Florida, not to mention other more talented, disciplined teams. It's one thing to play hard and lose to the better man, but please, let's not beat ourselves with little-league/middle school types of penalties and mistakes.

I'm on week 3 of this intermittent fasting plan. I "fast" for 18 hours, then eat a couple meals during a six hour window during the day, usually from 3pm to 9pm. We'll see how that goes for a few more weeks. Anyone with any experience, being successful with intermittent fasting, I'd love to hear the results.

Take care and enjoy today

It all depends on the calorie intake. Count the calories taken in every 24 hours and eat less than you burn and you will lose weight. (Eat good food too.) Oh, I believe totally in fasting (I do drink water). If you want to really reset your clock fast for three days. (Keep drinking water) You can reset your immune system with a three day fast.

You know, I've heard a bit about longer-term fasting and have been interested in giving it a try. I'd have to mentally build up to it, though.

Now that looks like some sushi that I wouldn't mind trying. Did that little Polish restaurant ever end up opening down the road from you?
Yes they have and they made it through COVID because the governor did not shut down the state. If we had been shut down they may not have because it is a mom and pop restaurant, not a chain.

I enjoy their potato pancakes and I especially like them with cabbage rolls. Your grandmother made the best cabbage rolls on earth and she was far from being Polish.

Well, if an ump calls time, right or wrong, the play ends at that point (Even I did that once.). And if that happened before the runner was tagged at second, he can't be out (I'm guessing that's the case.). StL (Assuming on D.) ought to be totally p!ssed. The ump calling time needs a time out himself from MLB. He is paid to know the situation.

Yeah. Cards on D. The officials (in all sports) should have to face the music afterwards just like the players. The announcers couldn't give an exact explanation on the timing of things, but your guess is likely what happened. You couldn't tell on TV what happened at what point. Shildt (Card manager) supposedly did his F you chant numerous times and the ump let him get away with it for awhile because he knew they had screwed it up.

Ya'll be mates? Good stuff!

Just have to do it, something will always come up. I find the less people you tell about it the better. If asked, just change the subject. Someone always telling you a better way and offering you food. Just find a three day block and do it. If it bugs you the first time, are you a coffee drinker or tea drinker? Drink some BUT, without any other additives. No sugar for sure no sugar nor cream.

My darling always stops me. She watches intently what I eat or don't eat. Just a fight those days. I can do without eating and did a seven day fast a couple times. The key is drinking very regularly. Step out of the normal drinking routine. Drink at least a cup or so of water every half hour. (Just to fill you a little.)

(You all are probably the only people I have ever told about the seven day fasts. I had to deceive my wife during those times and it was not easy nor was it pleasing to me as there is very little I keep from my Darling.)(Get past three days and the rest is easier...)

I may have to look through my things at home and see if I have her recipe for the cabbage rolls. I have practiced a few of her other recipes and have become pretty decent at duplicating them. I would love to try to make her cabbage rolls next time we have our Bible study group over to our house.

I may give this some thought and look for a good window of time to carry out a three-day fast. I also believe that I can talk my wife into doing this with me. Pretty sure she'll go along with me on this.

Ironic that in one post I'm talking about fasting, then follow up with posts about cooking.
It is in your blood. You come from a line of great cooks and even better eaters. Your mother can bake better than any bakery around.

Good luck on your fasting. I think you will have good results. My son manages to keep the weight off but he runs a minimum of 6 miles a day. I am not sure that is healthy but I think he is addicted to working out and running.

I have reached the age where you thank the Good Lord you are still around and you enjoy life. Food is essential to me in enjoying life but I like the Biblical advise on fasting. It never hurts and sure can help

Good morning! Woke up just in time to catch the beginning of the Jones show. Good or bad, that's where we are.

Looking forward to Saturday, even though I'm aware of what might happen, because I'm aware of what might happen. We beat them at the Swamp and now it's time to lay the smackdown on em at our house. Let's go Krogering! Krogering! Krogering!

I'm ready to see my basketball team in action. Not Madness, not Blue White. Action against another team.

I've been doing it for a while and have lost some weight. What you have to watch out for is overeating during your window. I haven't been too regimented about it and just sort of fell into the habit.

I was at 204 about 2 months ago and Friday I weighed 189.

I don't know about this game, but this year a lot of Card games (maybe all) have been done from the studio, not the ball park, so like on TV, they may only see what's on the TV screen.

I changed my oil that way Sir. I was so surprised... Never even got my hands dirty. All it took was marking the job completed. (Too easy)
