Good morning from ATX. Currently 61°F and dry. Cloud cover keeping us warm, believe it or not. High today may come in around 80°F. We'll take it.

Happy Veterans Day. I'm off. Today's plan is hit up Chipotle, BJs Brewhouse and Buffalo Wild Wings later for a few freebies. I'll leave a good tip.

Wishing everybody a happy and healthy day.

Morning Legionnaires!

Anyone find out what the results were for Sawnee? If already posted I must have missed it. I hope it was good news.

Wife and daughter are still asleep and will be for another 2 or 3 hours. Never could do that even when I was in school. Was always up before the break of dawn even on the weekends and holidays. Used to drive my mother crazy.

Thank you warrior-cat. I would like to thank the D League for their thoughts and prayers because God has answered them in my behalf.

I saw the surgeon yesterday to go over the pathology report and the news could not have been better. I had a neoplasm of the left kidney and specimen of the ureter and adrenal gland. The tumor was bigger than originally thought, a little over 5cm and was classified as Stage 2 however there was no evidence of metastatic carcinoma. It had not spread from my left kidney and the surgeon said I was now cancer free.

So a little over a week since my surgery I am pretty much recovered physically and will not see the doctor for 6 months for a routine follow up. He will probably do another Cat scan and if it is OK, release me for good.

I feel very fortunate because this cancer was discovered by "accident". I saw the doctor for another issue that turned out to be nothing and has completely gone away. At the last moment he asked me if I had ever had a Cat scan of my abdominal area and I said no so he ordered one as a precaution. And there it was.

So thanks again for your prayers, God loves us and He has shown that to me in each of my 8 major surgeries throughout my short years on this earth. :) :) :)

I am ready, put me in coach.

Good morning from the Home of the Mermaids,

We are having light rain with a current temperature of 76° and should make it up to 78° so we are almost there.

Well our eyes are on Hurricane Eta and our little area of the world is in the "cone". You don't want to be in the cone but we seldom get hit where I live so I am not going to board up or worry about it.

I trust all are well and thanks again for the prayers as I am praying for you. God bless

My best friend when i was in elementary school would sleep till like noon on the weekends. Drove me nuts, I'd be up and ready to get at it by 7 am.

Now, I sleep as much as I can. If my first conference call for work is at 8, I am up at 7:55. If it's at 9:30, I'm up at 9:25 :)

It is rainy and 57.9°F. We got .66" last night and it is supposed to drop down to a crisp 39° to night. We have had a wonderful "indian" summer.

Sawnee, good report on the old kidney. Get ready for Eta. She may dump some water on you, if it ever decides where it wants to go. It has wonder around all over.

It is hump day folks.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Newbies and Lurkers.
  • We have 70º in Cumming. Wet. Overcast.
  • 1st mug of Dark Magic down. This stuff is magic indeed.
  • #3: bad news in on him, he finished the Swamp Training in fine style, but broke the "no food" rule and has to redo the ST. Damn. He's back at Ft. Benning. He and the other food cheaters will rest for 12 days and then go to Florida for the redo. Applesauce. Oh, well.
  • Congrats to SawneeCat for the excellent test results. He's an Iron Man.
  • Good to see the newbies come aboard.
  • As you were.
  • Stay safe.
  • Carry on.

Funny but my wife just stuck her head in the door and said our local weather report says we will get hit about 4:00 this afternoon. Heavy rain and 70 mph wind. Just a mild blow through and I don't see any damage from that. But she gets excited over these things.

I was just thinking today is Veterans Day and it sure is celebrated differently than when I grew up. Back in the 1950's this was a huge day with parades and speeches at the town square from Old Timers from the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII and Korea. Time marches on and times change.

But for those of you who served, thank you for your service and shape up trainee. A-10-5 Third Platoon Sgt reporting for duty, SIR.,

Were staches mandatory for your troops, warrior? :)
People often ask about my stashes and how did I get away with them being so big. I had them most of the time in the Army and my answer is this: just like in most things, if you are good at what you do, they let you get by with a lot. I was a always pushing myself and my troops to be the best wherever we were and generally came out top so, we could take some liberties. Below was me about 2 months before retirement.

You make it work too. I grew one for movember a few years back and almost got arrested for being a kid diddler. Hahahaha.

When my kids were little we use to go to Stone Mtn Park in Georgia all the time. Had a train running around the base of the mountain. They loved putting coins on the track and having them flattened. Good memories...sitting on the lawn in front of the mountain with a picnic with the kids playing.

I did that up in Detroit, River Rouge to be exact. We lived on the road next the the tracks. No telling how many nickels, dimes, pennies, and quarters I had flattened. (Not too many quarters)

Oh, Good Morning all,

A gloomy day here but the sun will come up tomorrow if the Lord doesn't come.

May your needs be met and I ask you give thanks and glory to God...

At first glance, the young guy kinda resembled Mark Spitz.
He spit up good once during basic. Caught him coming back from the post club drunk about 2 am when the troops were locked in and not supposed to go anywhere. Did my normal head count (every hour when on night duty) and was missing one (over 230 troops in unit) so, I woke everyone up and wanted to know who was missing. Had a formation outside (January time frame) and they were standing in underwear and t shirts until someone told me who was missing. He came around the corner just in time to see us and we saw him. Sent the rest back to bed while I made him run up and down the stairs until the alcohol came up. Sent him to bed after that.

He was one of the best recruits I have had but, even the best screw up.

Tom Selleck would be jealous
