D-League

Good morning D-League. Hot and sweaty in DC.

Hated to miss out on the Blackshear kid. The only positive I can come up with: He was going to change the way the Cats' played, and make them a more traditional, feed the interior team. With Hagans, Quickley, Maxey, Whitney, Brooks, Juzang, and EJ, this team is better suited to unclog the lane, spread the floor, attack the basket and kick out to Sestina for a corner 3 or throw up a lob for Nick. No, it isn't a better team without Blackshear. But it may be a team built to play a style for which it is better suited.

That's what I'm trying to convince myself, anyway. Have a good day folks.

Hello D league!

Just a small update on my little life.
Remember the interview I asked about? I went ahead and told my 1st line supervisor about it. He appreciated my honesty and said if called a positive reference would be given. Make a long story short I got the job which means a pay raise and more time at home and less time in hotels across KY.

Other than that....same ole same ole.

Oh well. We didn't want him anyway. :grimace:

When I was a boy having a Coke was a treat. Daddy didn't bring them home so the only time we got one was at a filling station or the General Store. A Coke was 6 oz., a Pepsi was 10 oz and an RC was 12 oz.and they all cost 5 cents, so I preferred RC. And most of the time I had a Moon Pie with it. Also 5 cents. We also had a 16 oz. Double Cola but I saved those for extra hot days and drank them with a pack of Tom's peanuts.

It's been noted in several venues that if the NBA wasn't willing to take a stab at this dude in the early second round, then he might not be the game changer that everyone was making him out to be. We'll be fine with what we have.

I wish I had had access to the wisdom of the D league when I was your age. There are a multitude of life experiences here and a person would be a fool not to take heed of a widely held belief of right and wrong. Trust the D! We'll save your life.

Afternoon. Strange how the night moves.

Wow, just read the last two pages. Great wisdom here in the D. FCC.

Bert is a rascal. Gotta watch him. Not in this situation though. Bert know's where, when, if, and how his bread is buttered.

I'll be praying that everything goes well for your wife.

Thanks. As bad as cancer is, melanoma is a really cruel form of cancer. You think you are free of it, and one day it shows up in your liver, and you have 6 weeks. At least if you have another form of cancer you can usually remove it, radiate the area, or take chemo, to keep it from spreading. Not melanoma. All you can do is pray it doesn't show up.

Don’t want to downplay the kid’s talent, which is evident. It’s not NBA talent, just as Reid Travis is probably not an NBA player. But he’s a good college baller.

But even before he decided, I’d voiced my misgivings about whether he was the right player to join this Kentucky team. He just would have changed the dynamic on the offensive end. People are calling Nick the big winner in Blackshear staying away but I think it could be Keion Brooks. I have a sneaky feeling without Blackshear we’ll see some Keion as a quick, agile 4.

Good morning from ATX. Currently 73°F. Expecting low-90s later today.

Remember Hal Mumme? My BB&T banker played HS football for him at Copperas Cove (TX) HS. Mumme invited him to serve as team manager at Iowa Wesleyan in 1989, but he decided on staying closer to home (University of Mary Hardin Baylor). Small world. Ha ha, he also mentioned Billy Gillispie and his then-wife, who both worked at Copperas Cove HS around that time. He said Gillispie's old lady was fine as heck back then.

I pick up the rental car at noon today. Hoping for arrival in Heber Springs, AR by 9:30 PM tonight.

We'll check back later. Behave.

Hey guys, thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. My daughter is in a pretty good battle right now. An aneurysm burst in her brain Wednesday night. Looks like a lot of damage. Things are pretty critical. My mom, one brother and nephew are here. My other brother is driving today.

I really appreciate the love you all have shown over the years. Sincerely,

Sarah’s dad.

Good Friday morning D League

It is summertime. The local temperature is 73° with a high forecast in the low 90's by mid afternoon.

Listening to the radio and a man drowned in the Gulf yesterday trying to save his dog. He was on his airboat going about 45 mph when the dog fell out and he dived in after it. He was not wearing a life jacket nor was the dog. He drowned but the dog survived. Be cautious and careful out there in deep waters.
