D-League

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, hope you all have a good one.

Mousse turned out good and I found out I'll be making another one for her to take to work.

I believe all I have to cook today is smoked turkey and deviled eggs.

Yesterday was my first cheat day since I started Keto and even then I didn't really have a bunch of carbs. I had eaters remorse after I had done it and I'm going to feel bad about it again today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all ...
Dinner at In-laws around 1:00
Back home on couch by 5:00, feelin like a slug if all goes as planned.

Bert, thank you for the invite but I think I'm going to have to pass. Busy days Fri & Sat, will need Sunday for a day of rest. Maybe I can make it to the next D league soiree ...whenever that is. My daughter went to WKU for a year, made that drive a few times.

Egg is up to temp, finally, and the bird has been in there for almost an hour now cruising at 240°. Talked to my father and told him it took a long time for the temp to come up and he immediately said it was because the egg was so cold. :flushed: duh! I don't usually cook outside when it's that cold and didn't even think of that. I told him "58 years and I'm still learning from you".

In other news, BARRY SANDERS IS PLAYING FOOTBALL TODAY FOR DETROIT!

He has signed a one day contract. Are they going to let him score a touchdown? Will they be able to stop him from scoring a touchdown? These questions and many others will be answered today. You owe it to yourself to watch him run one more time. :football::scream:

I’m trying to get my appetite back. Cooking kills my desire to eat

I did good today and didn't eat anything until it was time. Of course, time, meant that the turkey had sat for 15 minutes and it was time to see if it was ready. Takes a couple of slices to make an accurate call.

Oh yeah, there was beer involved once the fire was lit. Wife said "are you drinking beer in the morning?" I told her I was drinking beer because there was a fire going in the grill. Time of day is not a consideration.

OK, I just went in and got some mousse. OH MY! That is some good stuff. It really is chocolate pudding on steroids. As smooth and soft as your fairy godmothers bosom. I can't imagine anything more rich. It sticks to your tongue and melts there.

Thumbs up Julia Child! [thumb2]

We bought a 7.5lb turkey breast this year. Just two of us and a full turkey was more than we need. She doesn't eat the legs or wings so it was just too much for me. I don't need Thanksgiving to last until I wonder if the food is still good or not. That being said, we still had enough food today for 12 people at least.

I was sales manager for CSX in Evansville for nearly three years and I made that trip ever two or three weeks. I was the best years of my career as I was close to the folks and the Evansville area is a nice place to live.

35.6°F here and the sun is shining.

Went to my son house outside Taylorsville, KY for Thanksgiving yesterday. It was the best traffic ever. I may always travel on Thanksgiving day. I made my best time ever 1 hour and 35 minutes. It is usually great at 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Had a great time with some good folks. My daughter and her family were in Baltimore.

I look forward to our game tonight. I hope something starts to click.

Good morning from Shawanee, TN. Currently 36°F. Clear and expecting a high of 53°F.

Had a great Thanksgiving. Lots of food and fellowship. Saw a couple folks I had not seen in many years.

Tigers vs Cats at 7:00 PM. I'd originally planned on attending that game, but decided to remain down here instead.

I'm hiking to the Cumberland Gap later today for a beer and walking back. Around 7 miles round-trip. I hike it every year.

That's all for now. Y'all behave.

Good morning. I don't know what the temp is but frost is everywhere.

Was supposed to play golf later this morning but I cancelled that last night. It was some kind of event that I think will turn into a cluster. Besides that, I've taken my clubs out of the car.

As of right now, we're still on for the football game Saturday. I'm just waiting for her to back out.

I have never in my life seen a turkey be so moist after cooking. First time I've ever brined one. I would have injected it but I couldn't locate the rig. Hadn't used it for a few years because the egg doesn't dry meat out anyway.

I'm going to take a Thanksgiving plate down to Dad later on. Talked to him yesterday and his bottom plate has held up fine. I guess I should have fixed it for him the first time.

Finished sanding the top of my old egg table yesterday which means I'm about 25% done with that project. I'll be selling it cheap just to get rid of it.

My new vacuum worked great for cleaning the ash out yesterday and it fits nicely in the table alongside the propane tank. Wish I had done that years ago. If my shop vac is in the shop, does that make this one an egg vac?

Can't wait for Sunday! Get to meet up with Austin again and that's always nice. You guys may not know it but Austin and I broke bread together, and beer, right down in enemy territory. We could look out the window and see the Chicken Bucket Arena. They never even noticed us.

Also get to see my good friend Bert and his lovely wife, and most definitely better 3/4, Sherry. If I lived on College St. the neighbors would be talking about Bert and I. They would know we were there.

Hopefully I'll get to see Bev again and possibly meet Rob too. We had a great time the last time we went. Met up at a gas station on the way and then drove in a nice, controlled, orderly fashion, the rest of the way to Bert's. That's my story.

Ok, you're on your own now. I've done all I can do to pass some of your day.

Wife cooked a 5.5 lb turkey breast and we had leftovers after eight people ate. She thought we would have to ration the turkey.

I cut most of the meat off the carcass and we're giving the rest to the outside cats. I told her the turkey was cheaper than the food she gives them. Probably healthier for them as well.

  • Good Morning, D-League
  • Currently 73º with a high of 78. Gorgeous day with plenty of sunshine with a low UV. Running conditons are good if you are into that.
  • Thanksgiving is over and leftovers will be good with basketball and football. I love dark meat and I have 4 turkey legs all to myself. My favorite thing to knaw on.
  • Outside is the pleasant smell of wood burning. My place backs up to a wildlife preserve and several times a year they have controlled burns to clear out the undergrowth. 400 acres are burning today through the weekend. The is the only way to preserve and protect a forest and California needs to understand that. It would save life and property.
  • When Duke, UL and UNC all lose over Thanksgiving that is a blessed Thanksgiving. Giving all the credit to the Lord for that.
  • Well the wife is on the loose at the local shopping areas. No way she drags me out there. I hate to turn her down but I just can't take a Black Friday. No way no how. Have fun honey I'll stay home and eat turkey legs.
  • Trust all of our D-Leaguers are up to speed.
  • Take care.

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 45º presently in Johns Creek. I'm inside. Too cold for outside.
  • All posts read and liked.
  • Thanksgiving was fine. They were all here except for #3. who was snow-boarding in Switzerland. Our food was very good. I did not overeat, but I did alright.
  • I hope all of you are off today. I have to go to work for awhile.
  • We've got Tennessee State at 7:00 EST. We need a good game.
  • Texas beat UNC yesterday. The are coming up in a few weeks. We need tp beat them.
  • Be safe today.
  • Carry on.

Controlled Burns: A simple little trick that California outlawed. It is astounding how California collects stupidity.

It is mind boggling as if they are looking for trouble out there. Florida has sparse rain from late November to the Spring and this is the time our Forest Division goes to work. Heavy summer rains hold down fire potential but the winter can be dangerous in the woods. Thankfully we have a state government made up of adults who understand dry wood and a spark are deadly.

I feel so sorry for Californians not being protected by their government. Cut down the 130 million dead trees and clear out the undergrowth and rake out the dead fallen branches and leaves and you can control it. Simple as simple gets.

Slept in after late night with a busy day. 1, 2, 3 and flocks. Sister & her flock.
  • Turkey & dressing
  • Baked ham w/ sliced Pineapple,
  • Smashed taters
  • Cheesy mac topped with sliced Maters
  • Green/pinto beans & bacon
  • Stuffed bacon-wrapped chilis
  • Chunky cranberry sauce
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Pecan Pie
  • Apple pie
  • Double layered Chocolate cake w/ center strawberry layer
  • Assorted cookies, breads & dips.
  • Enough positive & negative drinks to meet any needs.
Ate ample servings and couldn't even sample all the bounty. All left with with care packages. Pecking order was not figured out but I believe Christmas eve was. I was hiding out back, out of site, safe with a few others. Tunes provided by Dolly, Loretta, Johnny, Jerry Lee, Willie, Paloma, Imelda, Manfred, John,Paul, George, Ringo & others. Too much fun for one day. I want a week of this. Maybe I don't.

Anyway, just walked from the kitchen after a coffee refill and I saw T-day food I haven't even seen yet a and a grinning wife. Blessed . . .

Hey Rooster, why don't you take your private jet and fly to Bert's house on Sunday?
'preciate the offer. I would've spoke up if I'd been in area. You all are like brothers and sister. Even if not being good at the social buttterfly thing. I'm naturally reserved, sit in or near the back, I don't have and never have had an i-anything. I watch then, and assume the best role I can offer. Sometimes nothing at all like these guys.

[pfftt]
btw: I'm think I'll trade in my jet for the right house boat when I find the one I need to explore the domestic rivers more.
