D-League

  • Good Morning, D-Leagueanites, Wildcats and Lurkers.
  • 72º in Johns Creek. Overcast. Misty rain. The temp seems more like 60s, but the weather channel says 72º.
  • This Dark Magic is very, very good.
  • And this little dog is very, very cute. 10 pounder. Due for a clip next Monday. It was a blessing to find her like I did.
  • Bert. See about that Prostate problem. Don't let it kill you. Let us know about yourself.
  • Watch out for those IDMO drivers today. Tailgating. Blinker ignoring. Super Speeding.
  • Carry on.

The forecast for my area is potential winds over 100 mph and a storm surge from 8 to 12 feet. I should be OK but my brother is in the danger zone. He lives in the Apalachicola area where the storm is headed. It should be much stronger when it hits him.
The storm trough moving across the SGP ain't no joke either likely absorbing Michael like it did Rosa.
Stay safe.

It is almost comical listening to the weather forecast. Last year they were telling us we would be hit with the storm of the century. This is not our first rodeo
The storm of the century scale will change soon enough adjusting to climatic fluctuation.

Good afternoon! Diet just keeps getting better. Now I have the ingredients to make a strawberry cheesecake smoothie. 16oz with just 8 net carbs. I might just go back up to 220 so I can lose it all over again. #sportslimming

Looks as if golf will be rained out tomorrow. No big deal. Picked up a 3lb beef tenderloin today to cook Friday. A friend is coming over to hang out for my first real cook on the new table. He's the one who took me to get the wood and helped me carry it to the shop and also the one who helped me get the table to the patio. A lot happened between those two evolutions.

Sawnee, I truly hope that water doesn't come up and mess up your beautiful home.

Bev, how's Rob doing?

Bert, less than a month now. Better start getting ready.

I love Thomas Sowell.

Don't worry. I have had it for over two years. And it is probably coming back. It is just life for an old man like me.

My testosterone is too high, which enable the cancer. (I have told my wife for 52 years that I am a real man!) They want to give me shots to lower it. I don't know if I want them.

The problem with having cancer is that they do a bunch of crap to you. I have 77 titanium seeds in my prostate that were laced with Iodine 126. That worked for a year, but now the PSA is going up. So now I wait to see what other evil things that they want to do.

This is tough to learn. I consider you and the regulars on here my friends even though it's not likely I'll ever meet any of you. Hang in there.

  • Good Morning from the Florida Gulf Coast, D-League.
  • Michael is currently 234 miles West of my place and headed North to the Panhandle.
  • 75º this morning with a high of 88. Raining and the storm surge is a huge issue.
  • The storm may be a Cat 4 when it hits. The Panhandle is in a heap of trouble. The news this morning said that part of the state has never been hit with a Cat 4. If this happens say goodbye to some beautiful sugar white sand beaches. I spoke to my brother and he has evacuated as has his son and family. They boarded up as best they can but only God can spare their property. He lives less than a 1,500 ft from the Gulf. A 13 foot wave is predicted so he will be fortunate to have a house left.
  • We should not have much if any wind from this. Water is the issue and the outer bands are coming.
  • I am staying with the house but my wife is down in Ocala with my daughter. Ocala should be safe.
  • All you can do in times like this is try to keep a sense of humor and thank God you watched the sun come up after it has passed. A CAT 4 of 140 mph winds are no joke. But Florida can handle it.

Last evening I was driving down I 75 and saw National Guard trucks headed North to the Panhandle as well as a convoy of utility trucks all preparing for what is coming. I thought how nice to have a governor who is on the scene and not "leading from behind". Governor Scott has shown strong leadership and looks forward and is prepared.
My folks are keeping an eye on the storm too. They should be OK in the St. Pete Beach area, maybe some rain and a small surge unless it changes direction.
UK82, Pinellas County has had a lot of flooding. Any word on your folks?

Every night is like that for me. Sometimes 4 or 5. I wake up worn out.

Get checked for sleep apnea Don.

Looks like the rain they called for two days ago isn't going to amount to much. Rain all day has turned into a projected 0.05" starting at 1400. I guess predicting the weather must be much harder than predicting the climate. Probably because they have "models" for seeing into the future with regard to climate. But wait...don't they use models to predict the weather as well?

Madness in a couple of days. Thank you UK football for getting us through this late off season in a most entertaining and hopeful way.

I have reconciled our loss last Saturday and am now fine with it. I assumed a loss there when I first saw the schedule. If we had given the ball to Bennie on 3rd and 2 and he hadn't got the first down, there would be just as much anguish that we didn't try a pass. We went to overtime against a solid team on their field and never had a snap in their territory in regulation. That's badass defense my friends. We're fine.

See ya this afternoon, have a good one. Or so.

Dang Michael is looking to be an evil storm. I hope and pray that our Florida buddies moved to a safe area.

70° F and overcast here.

I need to mow this afternoon but it looks like it will rain.
Thanks Bert. I am really worried about my brother and his family. They are in the worst possible position to be in. If he has a house this time tomorrow it will be by the Grace of God. Not to mention the boats, motorcycles and out buildings that are sure to get blown to smithereens . He was able to get his trucks out but no safe place to take the boats and motorcycles. Your prayers are certainly appreciated.

Seems to be an old guy issue. I an dealing with it as well. It started with me about four years ago.
We are a band of brothers. When my daddy had prostate trouble he told me, "son if you live long enough you will be where I am now". My grandfather had it as did my uncles and cousins. It is a family thing. I had a TURP procedure which has helped. Still recovering but I can sleep straight through now. It was worth it.

Thanks for asking! I spoke to my Dad about an hour ago. They barely got anything, wind or rain.

Thinking about the good people in the panhandle. I sure hope they get the hell out of there.

Good morning everyone! Very cloudy here in SWFL and 82 degrees. Very unusual to have cloudy mornings here. Of course, this is attributed the Michael out in the gulf.
I too have sleep issues. I wake up every night having a "Railroad " dream. It was such a part of my life for so long I still have dreams about it.

Hope all my Sunshine state friends are in a safe place, and like I said before, hurricanes aren't anything to mess with. I hope all y'all ailing are feeling better.
My sister called me the other night from Ky. Tripped over her cat and broke her leg in 3 places. Poor thing, she has been having health issues for years. Y'all have a good day, will check in later

Dad gum. So sorry for your sister. Prayers. We have the same weather pattern here in the central gulf part of the state. The beach areas are flooding but no wind or rain to speak of.

That would be the Casey Jones syndrome:

Caller called Jones about half-past four,
Jones kissed his wife at the station door,
Climbed into the cab with the orders in his hand,
Says "This is my trip to the promised land."
