Credit little used frosh Noah and Chandler

I'm interested in his development since he seems to be playing the 4. I thought of him as more of a small forward before the season. He could be great in a year or two when he develops his body a bit. Still looks like a high schooler this year, lol
Yes, all three freshmen will be greatly improved with a year of training, especially in the weight room. All three need to be stronger in the upper body. Noah is the most physically mature at this point of the three and it shows.

I would say Chandler is the most physically mature, which makes sense when you consider he's a couple years older. Certainly the most muscular of the three. But I think Noah has the frame to become the most physically imposing among the freshmen. Wide shoulders and already a little thick, which is probably partly pudge now but will be easy to turn into muscle over the next year.

To be honest there are very few guards who can handle Zieglers quickness and defensive pressure. Ziegler is a freaking blurr. He single handedly took out Georgia early in the second half.
Don't know why more teams do not put a bigger guy on him (J Robinson last night) and I have no idea why we didn't post him up last night several times- he was giving up 6-8 inches on our smallest guy a lot of times last night

I agree with posting him up. But, Pope chose on many occasions to have Amari or someone else bring up the ball rather than take a chance against Ziegler. He gets that much respect for his on ball defense. The dude is quick.

I don’t understand the bitching and moaning by supposed basketball fans about Chandler playing. We’re down THREE players, who else is going to play? There are no free agents or midseason trades. He’s getting better.
And Pope likes to use 9-10 players too, they use the analytics to make sure guys are etting rests when they need it so they are at their most effective when on the court. I know there reaches a point you have to play some guys longer due to the injuries and such, but it shows he has a next man up approach when that happens.

I’m not saying 20 mins a game. But 8-12 per game depending on the situation and performance would be great while the vets are hurt.
For reference, Almomor plays 14.5 mpg. He is a 50% FG / 43% 3FG / 86% FT shooter. He averages 6.1 ppg and is a solid + defender, is 6-7, 215. He is the one needing more minutes. his 30 minute per game would be 12.5 / 4rpg / 1 assist

But if you want to give Noah some of Chandlers minutes, I am more than fine with that.

Chandler -6-5, 202 lbs. - 8.4 mpg- 1.4 ppg / 29% FG / 17% 3FG
Noah - 6-5, 220 lbs. - 6.1 mpg - 2.1 ppg / 58% FG / 50% 3FG ( in limited minutes) Maybe give Noah 4 of Chandler's 8.4 mpg for 10 mpg.
Perry - 6-1, 185 lbs. - 6.2 mpg - 1.5 ppg / 30% FG / 31% 3FG.

And I may get roasted for this, and I know Perry has made some key shots in a couple games, but his net production is not a positive one. He is not shooting it well, plus what little he does give offensively, he gives up more than that defensive. He is just not big enough or quick enough at this stage of his career to handle bigger, faster players. He gets abused.
By looking at it with the naked eye, Noah is the player of the 3 that deserves more minutes. And I get Perry is a PG and has to fill in because of injuries so he was thrown into action before he had a chance to get his feet under him, but his defense is what is the most glaring issue.
Also, Noah is NOT a PF, stop it. Yes he weighs 220 lbs., but he is only 6-5, a limited athlete, no hops, and not fleet of foot. 2G / SF is where he can use his size and make a difference. Chandler has done absolutely nothing to validate him getting the minutes he does, he will be a solid player in the future, but he scares the living shit out of me every time he touches the ball. I cringe and pray he passes it as soon as he gets it. If those 3 guys just improve their skills, get stronger, get their bodies right, they all will be nice rotational players in the future, probably their JR. years.

I agree that Noah is not a PF, but he can occasionally play one on TV (bada-boom). And I agree that his strength potential can really benefit him in the 2G or SF (where I like him best) spot. But I don't fully agree with the "no hops and not fleet of foot" take. Sure, there's guys that jump higher and are quicker, but I don't think Noah is a bad athlete at all (even by CBB standards). For example, when he cuts and gets an open lane to the basket he dunks easily. To my eye he has a better vertical than Almonor. And he moves/jumps laterally pretty well, cutting off guys and getting his hand on balls. My bet is Noah plays a ton next season backing up Oweh and starts at the SF spot his Jr. year.

I haven't seen him "cut to the basket" and dunk, so maybe I am missing something there. Nothing about the way he moves has me believe "+ athlete". Speed has no factor in cutting to the basket and getting open. It is a smart play, catch your guy ball watching, but it doesn't mean "quick", it just means he has a high Basketball IQ.

Agree Almanor needs minutes but they’re coming. You’re not taking into account that I said while the vets are hurt. Not a full roster. So all those numbers about average minutes are out the window. Someone will have to give AA a breather at PF. There will be times Garrison is in for Williams and Almanor needs a break. There’s no one’s else besides Noah who can do that with Carr out/hurt. Noah is 6’6” with no shoes. I know people get hung up on what guys are “officially listed” at on a website but I know his height from the people who actually measured him before stepping on campus. He absolutely has the size and strength to play small ball PF for short spells depending on the matchup. The 3 is his natural position though. Not super quick but I have seen him go between the legs for a dunk just goofing around. Strength is his asset. Chandler will be fine in a year once he’s been fully back at basketball for a while. Perry just needs speed & strength training. All 3 are just typical old school 4 star freshmen who will play 4 years of college ball. We need them.

I actually think Noah ends up the best of the 3 before all is said and done. I may be wrong, we shall see.

I know you’ve not trying to be down on Noah at all. So, I’m not going to pull one of those fake argument things where I try to twist things to go in a direction suggesting that you don’t like Noah’s potential as a player. To the contrary, you’ve been very complimentary of what you see as Noah’s best aspects. So, if we differ just a bit, I’m not going to nitpick it with a good poster. You might can see the dunks on a video (will obviously be many more in high school), but man I don’t even know how (or want to know how) to post one of those here even if I could find it. But I’ve seen it a number of times probably going back to his Sophomore year in high school when I’m guessing he was an inch or two shorter and weaker.
