Could Acaden Lewis be teaming up with Rick Pitino?

I'd happily take him right back, now with reset expectations.

I really like him and think he is good enough to get to a time split with Jaland as a freshman and overtake him over the post freshman summer.

It takes a whole lot more than what has happened for my pride to eff with me.

Man it isn’t about pride. The fact that he may very well be good enough to overtake Lowe just makes it all the more egregious that he left. If Lewis was some scrub, it would make sense. But by bailing, he’s essentially saying that he thinks he’s too good to compete. That’s bullshit and something I NEVER want at UK.

After seeing him play, I think he could have given Lowe some serious competition.
Kid is going to be a really good PG.
He has that Tony Delk/Rondo freakish wingspan for a guard and elite court vision.
I may be wrong but I think he will be better than Acuff in five years.

You may very well be correct. But if you are, then why was he scared to compete for the job?

Competition is something that’s either ingrained in you from a young age, or it isn’t. The fact he just wanted to be handed the reigns — whether it be this year or next — left a bad taste in my mouth. That shouldn’t happen at a D3 school, let alone a place like UK. Without competition, wtf do we even watch/play sports for???

After seeing him play against the best players in his class, he was very timid, didn't play hard, and seemed to be pouting on the bench.

None of those things scream Rondo or Delk. This Dude isn't in the class with those great players.

From what I read Lewis needs some time to learn how to be a true 1 and how to run a team. Kind of strange he would turn his back on the type of coaching he could get here and a year to learn by playing with a lot of experienced older players that have been through the wars. He should have been looking what is best in the long run and not the short run IMO.

I thought he would be really good and we only have two true guards on the roster at PG. he obviously either wanted a guarantee or something because his dad claims he was pushed out basically, I don’t believe that. I think he got a big offer to leave. I’m shocked he has not committed somewhere yet,
Idk if he thought Pope's roster construction was pushing Jasper to the one and then there's Lowe with two years eligibility.
Seems to be a myriad of reasons players are leaving/ decommiting everywhere.
Just seems like if a coach makes a move that doesn't sit well with them they're out the door.

Only thing I compared to Delk and Rondo was his wingspan for a guard.
He was anything but timid at the Jordan Brand.
I think he is the best passer in the '25 class.

Read where Lewis is probably our #1 target in the portal with Perry leaving. Talked about how savy of a player he is with a nice pull up shot. And that he would be in the rotation if he comes back to us. It actually said that UK is probably in the lead. What are our chances?
My guess is it’s just somebody daydreaming. I never heard or saw anything to indicate Lewis would have played after Perry. True Lewis is younger. But Lewis is:

—Ranked almost 50 spots higher than Perry
—A natural point guard
—The specific flavor of natural point guard that is ideal for Pope’s system

And Perry started out adjusting to college slower than our other freshmen. If we say that was because he was playing out of his natural position it’s still relevant here: even more relevant. I’d have a hard time thinking Perry’s presence or absence can mean much of anything to Acaden.
