Coroner Reports Kobe Had Ritalin in His System

I don’t really know. Personally I was more saddened by the reports of “broken bones, dismembered body parts, and stench of fuel on what remained of clothing that burned” than the fact that there was Ritalin in his system.

Agreed. With everything that article said the Ritalin in his system really wasn’t something I’d consider noteworthy.

I stopped shortly after reading that part...that was tough to read.

Kobe was retired from the NBA so the man had the right to do whatever he wanted. But if they are trying to bring up Ritalin because it’s a band substance in the NBA then that was uncalled for.

Some people abuse ritalin....its actually actually popular drug in drug circles. Not saying that's the case here with bryant but lots of people abuse it just like they do anything else

I took Ritalin for most of my early life, then was switched to the stronger drugs dexedrine and adderal. I took those for about twenty years until a couple of years ago. My doctors stopped these meds to fix my high blood pressure problem. I have severe ADD - got even worse as I got older. I am 70.

Ehh. Adderall for those who do NOT need it can get pretty crazy. It definitely gets you high AF and speed racer lol.

I set all kinds of Wii golf records during the summer of 2008 with the help of adderall. Almost flunked my summer classes for law school. I love that the generic name for it is “amphetamine salt combo.” Pretty straightforward description.

How do you feel when you’re not on it? Are you happy you were on those drugs? Just curious as lots of kids the last twenty years have been diagnosed with ADD and given drugs, including my 10 year old cousin that is on daily adderrall, and I’m just curious if they are gonna have major long term issues because of it.

I saw this response, and I don't think I saw it here, but:

What does it matter, He wasn't flying the damn helicopter. He could have all the drugs in his system and it wouldn't make any difference.

It’s a common and useful medication for both children AND adults who have ADD or ADHD. Nothing to look at here.
Special Rd teacher here, info above is pretty accurate. A lot of meth heads like to take adderal with their meth but not many dopers out there looking for methlyphinidate- I think that’s the name for Ritalin. It really helps a lot of adults and kids every day.

Can we delete this thread? Kobe was not flying that Helicopter IDC what was in his system.

I know the popular theory is that Kobe due to either his status or by request forced that pilot to fly but at the end of the day its the pilots decision.

Whatever drug Kobe had in his system which seems to be Ritalin is a very popular one among many people this didn't deserve a thread let than man RIP.

It reminds me of how a news anchor will talk about a car that was hit by a semi and launched 50 feet backwards off a cliff and plummeted 400 feet and burst into flames.

Then looks somberly into the camera and says, “the driver... was not wearing his seatbelt.” as if THAT was why he died.

Why the heck did they release the autopsy report to the public?
The Pilot? Maybe....
But Kobe's??

He was known to have the best work ethic in the NBA since Jordan, and that's one way to do it.
Was he still in the league when he died? Did you have a conversation with his doctor to determine why he was taking it and for how long? Adults do have attention deficit disorder. What is currently in your system that this board could blindly talking about why its there?
Such a sad report to read regarding the carnage of the accident. I am curious though, is it normal for an adult to take Ritalin? Is it legal in the league as well or would it be considered a performance enhancer?
