Comment about Ray Davis

Surprising news (of course, nothing official per your post) considering he was flexing his hand and making fists as they took the tape off. Based on how his hand was positioned during the injury and on the sideline, I figured he'd sprained it.
Someone said on the radio broadvast that they said it was hyperextended. I'm sure they will say something tomorrow

I would tend to agree. Too many are too ready to be offended leaving people reluctant to be "perfect" in their commentary so as not to "potentially" offend someone, somewhere about something. Lesson is to just keep the mouth shut and then there's no conversation at all. Stupid crazy thin-skinned world, it seems.
So many with an agenda or wrong kind of chip on their shoulder anymore! Just seem to be waiting for the first chance to be “offended/complain” over trivial things and if you don’t say anything u get blasted for that as well lol.

And now you pissed me off.

It was either something you said, something you implied, something I inferred, or something I imagined.

Regardless, tell your brand of bourbon or your brand of politics, and we can hate one another for another 24 hours!!

And while we are at it, did Ray Davis break or merely sprain his hand, and please refrain from referring to his “right” or “left” hand in responding for fear of political manipulation.

The lack of pure levelheadedness in this thread is ridiculous for both sides.

Was the comment abrasive and cringeworthy? Yes.
Would it have been better to use different wording? Probably, yes.
Was it a huge, hairy deal? No.

Did anyone else catch the out of line comment about Ray Davis? It was about the 8 minute mark in 4th quarter. The announcer said something like 9 months ago everyone wanted him but 11 years ago as a foster child no one wanted him. I thought that was totally uncalled for and should warrant an apology. Maybe I’m making too much out of it but damn that was unnecessarily harsh.
Could have been repeating something Davis said to him. I would assume he didn’t mean it like it came off, maybe he should have phrased it differently.

I don't doubt that at all. I realize he was repeating what Davis said in that one article. The biggest difference in my eyes is that Davis can say that about his own life experiences. Someone else shouldn't say it about someone else without the preface of something like "Davis said that 11 years ago while in the foster system, he thought no one wanted him". At the end of the day, the delivery matters. I don't think the guy should be fired but his phrasing was wrong.

Because they have been rewarded for being offended the past few years. I’m glad the pendulum is starting to swing back I. The other direction because it’s long been out of hand.

He just repeated a fact, sometimes things aren’t pretty.

From what he has personally said about it, I’d say he would agree honestly. It didn’t sound good but I don’t think the announcer meant it as disrespect toward him
i totally agree. Actually thought the announcer was trying to congratulate him on being successful n for what he’d overcome n being a great example for others but what do I know

Did he repeat just a fact though? Davis, as the person that went through it, can feel unwanted because that is his life experience and say it. Someone else doesn't have the right to say it like the announcer did. I will repeat adding just a few words to the sentence to attribute that statement to Davis makes it a comment from Davis and changes the entire perception of what was said. In most cases, how the message is delivered is more important than the message itself.

The announcer has the right to say it. The employer can require an apology, terminate, etc (which they haven’t). Seems all good except in this forum and whoever you follow on X.

He doesn’t have the right to say it. He has the ability and the platform to say it but that doesn’t give him the right to say it. There is a big difference between the two. Ray’s dad wasn’t happy about the comment and he’s more invested in it than anyone not named Ray.

TCurtis75 - Call the announcer. Tell him how you feel. Lord knows we all do on here. Geez.
Like any other post, we are just having a dialogue back and forth. Don’t like the thread don’t read it. I don’t post for your approval and don’t need your permission. Geez.

no there's no dialogue. you just want to reply in contrast and argue with those who disagree.

You and I have very different definitions of arguing. By definition, dialogue is a back and forth conversation which what is being had. People are welcome to disagree with me. Everyone is entitled to feel how they feel about the comment including me. The difference is I haven’t told anyone they were wrong for their opinion on the situation. Many have told me I’m wrong going as far as telling me I’m woke simply because I disagree with them. Why don’t you tell them they are arguing simply because they disagree with me? You are holding me to a different standard than them.

At the end of the day what does it matter. I’m glad Davis is happy and has overcame his circumstances! I had a very rough childhood but I survived and made myself a promise that my children would never go thru that. At end of day I’m thankful that Ray was able to move on to better circumstances. Nothing is gained from arguing the past. Let’s be thankful for the blessings we have !

Just pointing out your hypocrisy. You see no issue with them because you agree with them which is fine. It would be a lot easier to admit it. I’m guessing you think I’m woke too. Should I continue to wait for you to call those posters out like you did me?

I didn’t expect you to actually respond with anything more than you did. You should realize by now I have no problems responding to any and all messages. I have no problem defending my position and calling out people like you. Plus it’s quite comical to see people like you get so bent out of shape because I continually respond. I will repeat what I told someone else. It’s a pretty simple concept. Don’t want me to reply then stop replying to me.

Even if it sounded weird, I think it easy to see what the announcer was trying to say and, with a little grace, it can be overlooked. The sentiment is correct. Ray suffered thru the foster system, which can be brutal for older kids, and has excelled despite that to the point where he is now a wanted RB and teammate. In fact, Stoops and everyone rave about the guy. Glad he is a Cat!

We agree about Ray Davis.
