Comment about Ray Davis

I know what I’m talking about jackass. I know the story and it can be referenced without being unnecessarily mean like the announcer was. Maybe you should know what you are talking about before popping off, asshole. We would be better off here if your parents didn’t want you.

You lost all credibility when you used the word woke.
You need medication, and soon.

The announcer wasn't being mean at all. You're weird, and woke. You have many other posters who react the same way towards you on other threads. If everyone thinks you're the weirdo, did you ever you think that you might actually be?

Except everyone doesn’t. The vast majority on social media agree with me. The majority in this thread agree with me. I don’t give a damn how anyone reacts to me in other threads. Constantly using the word woke is weirdo behavior IMO. I wont be afraid to share and defend my opinion. You don’t like it. Don’t read it. I promise you I won’t lose sleep over it at all.

Of course you didn't. Next time, don't pop off. Next time, don't misrepresent what the SEC network commentators said. Next time, don't pollute a thread with this kind of embarrassing crap.
If these announcers had said what you mistakenly thoughts, they're out tomorrow.
See if that happens.
I know what the announcer said and I didn’t misrepresent it. Davis dad agrees with me. Tell you what. I’ll post what I want when I want. Don’t like it. Don’t read it. I don’t need your permission or approval. When you pay my bills, you get a say in my life.

Damn you put a lot of work into this. Are you an ambulance chasing lawyer trying to somehow capitalize off this?

Honest Lawyers PLEASE don’t be OFFENDED by this comment.
That just happened to show up in my Twitter feed because a few media members I follow retweeted it.

You woke weirdo, no-one on this thread agrees with you. You are nuts.

Y’all all cracking me up with the comebacks. Have a good night gotta go get my hour of tik tok in so I can go to sleep.

If you go around looking to be offended, you will be. The comment was fine.
I would tend to agree. Too many are too ready to be offended leaving people reluctant to be "perfect" in their commentary so as not to "potentially" offend someone, somewhere about something. Lesson is to just keep the mouth shut and then there's no conversation at all. Stupid crazy thin-skinned world, it seems.

I don't think the announcer meant it in anyway to demean, slight, or make fun of Ray Davis, in fact his intent was the opposite. I read Ray's story last week or so and it was one of the most heart-wrenching, but at the same time, inspiring things I read and makes you realize how insignificant some of the things we worry and focus on are. Ray did find people who loved him and wanted him before he became a football star, but at one-time he went through a situation that no one, let alone a child, should ever have to go through. If the announcer said that Ray Davis left Vandy with hundreds of options after having no options at 12, I don't think there'd be any issue. It was saying "nobody wanted him" that has gotten people upset but I think the outrage is way too much because I think his intent to highlight how far Davis has come.

Sorry, this will be one of the few times I have agreed with the OP.
I don't care if Davis talked about his life experience.
That doesn't make it ok for an announcer to use it in a joking manner. (If he indeed did say it. I did not hear it)
Let me put this another way. If you had an adopted child and someone said that to him or her, how would you feel about that? I would want to knock their head off. Why? Because they are deliberately making light of a deep childhood trauma that stays with people for their whole lives. It cuts to the very core of who they are and their self-worth. Do I think the announcer meant it maliciously? No, but he probably needs some introspection and consider the feelings of others before making public comments like that in the future.

You'll have to listen to it he didn't say it in a joking manner at all, he was saying it to shine light on his struggle using Davis's own words.

I’m glad we have gotten this settled!!
Settled?! Settled?! You mean like Settlers who stole land and slaughtered indigenous people!!!?? 😁

I never said he said it in a joking manner. I said it was over the top and uncalled for. It doesn’t have to be joking for it to be uncalled for.

Actually, that's a good point. My wife, who no one would ever accuse of being woke, read the quote from the announcer and she was outraged, he should be suspended, fired, etc. and I told I heard it real time and it reads a lot worse than it sounds. When she heard it today she agreed it didn't sound nearly as bad as reading it. Everyone that bothered to make the effort to stream that game was a UK fan(is there such a thing as an EKU fan who isn't a UK fan?) who most likely knows exactly what he was referring to.

His dad is pretty fired up on Twitter about the comment.
I actually met his dad in Week 1 , Had picked up some posters ( of running backs) and was walking back towards my tailgate and their was a group of people in line waiting to enter the stadium , Rays dad stopped me and ask " where did you get those posters " ? and I told him and offered him one since I had 2-3 extra and he said " thanks, Ray Davis is my son" Seemed like a nice man . I had no idea he was adopted .. hope he isnt hurt , I cant stand the thought of watching 180 lb Mcclain running 12 times between the tackles .
