Combine a UK offense/defense that could've made a CFP/BCS Bowl

I mean, if you could make the stars align to where you could use an offense from one year and the defense from another year, which teams would you choose that could've been combined to make one of these prestigious bowls?

For me, I go with the 2007 offense and the 2018 defense. In fact, if you had the 2018 defense during that crazy 2007 season, Kentucky could've won a national title. That's how crazy college football was that season.

Is 07 the Andre Woodson team that beat LSU?

For defense, I may take this years defense. I think they might be better than 18.

2007 offense and 2018 D.

If just Stoops era, 2021 offense and 2018 D.

This year's D appears very good though so ask me again in december.

I was only 3 in 78 so I don't remember that year but members of my family say that was the best UK defense they have ever seen
Your family is correct ,Still, Ramey, Blanton& company were dominant. Ask Penn St. LSU, UGA
after checking with the computer it was 1977 so you were only 2 so we will let that slide this time

Yeah, that's easy.

Any offense from an era in which the coaching staffs/program couldn't recruit talent nor depth in general but especially on D, but somehow always managed a QB who could spin it and at least one perimeter play maker who could catch it.

Combined with any Stoops D, ground game, and special teams. All of which he can actually recruit, develop, and coach. Just been missing a mediocre QB and passing game.

Joker OC/Andre Woodson era where he tossed about 40+ and had some sort of record for most completions without an interception.

Josh Allen D

Benny Snell running

Austin Mcginnis kicking

Max Duffy Punting

So really some of the best units, and individual performers in just about every phase, except passing, has been Stoops.

If he ever figures that out, we might actually be looking at something historic.

That's the thing, we've never been able to have all the pieces at the same time. This year we have the defense and the kicker but the offense is a work in progress . Other than the USC game, I think our O-line is greatly improved over the three previous years, Brock is showing improvement but a work in progress and has to improve his reads and pocket awareness, great catch by Barion but he's got to show up every game and every down, Dane Key is the only one living up to expectations so far with the receivers. Wilcox and Sumo-Kambaye are becoming solid backs but I'd like to see what Trayanum can do.
2007 we just lacked the depth but solid first team, we just wore out. I'd love to have a Woodson with his receivers, Snell at RB, McGinniss at kicker (but Raynor is pretty freaking solid so far), defense is tough between this years bunch and 2018. 2018 is Josh Allen but do you want him or Deone Walker as the centerpiece of the defense? I would take the 2018 secondary but I go back and forth with the defensive front and linebackers from this year and 2018.

It takes time for an offense to jell and run on same page. Getting a portal QB every yea,r we will always sputter. Hopefully Boley can develop and by his junior year become a first rate SEC QB. Portal QBs regardless of star rating will take a year to really learn the offense. Maybe next year Brock will be ready. If we had gotten Carson Beck, he would be nowhere as good in a new system as he is in the system he has been in for 4+ years. Stoops HAS TO recruit and develop QBs to be successful. This is not a knock on Brock, it is just a fact of winning football. We can't continue to use the portal to get the MOST IMPORTANT player on your team. This is a QB driven sport.
