Coaching hot seats

Mark Stoops is not and has not been on the "hot seat". This is some bloggers opinion that knows nothing.

Ya I'll bet on that. Like I said it's my hot seat list. I didn't say he's gonna be fired which he isn't cause him and. Mark are pals but he hasn't impressed me much in his coaching. Like i stated before I'm not sold on him and hasn't impressed me any at all. Just like our 3/4 D has not impressed me any.
LOL! That doesn't put Eliot on any hot seat. It takes several years of focused recruiting to put together playing rotations for an effective 3-4. If you can't see how much progress has already been made, then keep complaining until it dawns on you. Eliot isn't in any trouble at all. No Kentucky assistant coach is.

Iowa used to worry me but not now. Stoops wants state of the art facilities and he won't get that at Iowa. Also his recruiting pitch won't work as well in Iowa. If Stoops leaves UK it will be for a school that recruits itself. Miami concerns me more than any school at the moment.

Not saying his seat is hot but Petrino at 0-3 could feel his seat warming. UL could lose to NCST, Florida St. and UK. Throw in a loss to Virginia, Boston College or Pitt and they could be missing out on a bowl. UL fans won't be happy with that.

Norm Chow's pushing 70, don't know about a hot seat but his rocker might be getting warm.

I left there a couple of years ago, but I lived in Hawaii when he was hired and they were really fired up about him. Then after a couple of seasons most of the fans were ready to send him packing. Then again, they haven't been very good at all since the season they got smoked by UGA in the bowl game.

Have a cousin who's a UT graduate and fan. He said the OC is in trouble but not Jones. That makes sense because Jones has done such a great job recruiting that they have to have a fall guy to blame. UT fans have to be very happy that Charlie Strong turned them down and they ended up with Jones because Texas looks like a train wreck right now. Having said all that about Jones, I'm not a critic but not a fan either. He seems to love cliches. He's been a great recruiter there but they also have great facilities that even improved significantly around the time he was hired there. I remember the video of Derek Dooley chewing his gum his last year there and showing off their new training facility that was beyond impressive. Jones needs a good win on his resume.

I really don't think it's being a homer to say that Stoops appears to be the best hire. He's done an unbelievable job. Jones' best win at UT was beating South Carolina on the road last year when South Carolina was having a disappointing year already? Stoops has done that and inherited a worse situation.

Wasn't Mike MacIntyre (the son of the old Vandy coach) the coach who finished second to Stoops for the UK job? He hasn't done much at Colorado. I'm more intrigued by the coach who replaced him at San Jose State because he was on the Rich Brooks' staff and coach RBs like Rafael Little, etc. It will be interesting to see how he does.

What about James Franklin? He recruited well too at PSU but has been disappointing of the field. He walked into a great situation at Vandy and was left some elite players by the prior coach Bobby Johnson. I said it on here last year and I'll say it again. Bobby Johnson and the SEC East being extremely down had more to do with Franklin's success at Vandy than Franklin.

LOL... UT's OC is Mike DeBoard. He just coached in his second game at Tennessee. No one at UT is on the hot seat.

No way. I follow PSU very closely, have family in State College, season ticket holders and administration. Everybody knows that the sanctions take a long time to recover from and everybody around the program is EXTREMELY high on Franklin. He has a window of at least 3-4 seasons without being challenged. He made such a fast impact on the recruiting trail, but it is going to take a while. This season is a trainwreck...he just does not have the horses.

I was talking to my dad, a PSU alum and serious fan the other day, and we were reflecting on the difference in talent between PSU and the 'Cats at almost every position on the field besides DL and QB. (I mean in favor of Kentucky) How often in history do you think that has been the case...?!

God I wish we had their defensive tackles!

I have this beautiful dream of us beating them in a bowl game someday and winning tons of free dinners and drinks from all my family members!

Keep in mind , it's not UK fans saying this . It's some blogger that appears to know very little about college football .

Agree with this. I've always said 90% of these "hot seat" lists are just sports writers looking for something to write about. And the fact that they come up with a list of coaches that are clearly not on a hot seat and proceed to rank them in order of being on one, that smacks of desperation for something to talk about. Some of these hot seat coaches either recently have gotten contract extensions or they are about to get one. One or two of these coaches are truly on a hot seat and it's obvious. The rest of these lists are crap.

What I don't like is us not taking advantage of a situation where a blitz is needed to get a 3 and out or a stop but we will play off the ball and give them a 3 yrd cushion and next thing you know they will get 3 yards and a first down.

Iowa might be a good landing spot for one of Marks brothers. Mike would be a good fit because they could get him cheaper. But it could also be a good landing spot for Bob if Oklahoma decides it's time to part ways with him, I don't see that one happening though. I think Bob will go the NFL route before doing that.
