Coach k

Yes K came up with some BS excuse that he wanted the wins and losses on his record but the NCAA or ACC wouldn't allow it because it was too many games or something.

The post said that he got the wins but not the losses. That is completely tainted if true. I always thought none of the year he requested stricken was on his record; wins and losses.

Santa with the late Xmas present. Hopefully this leads to his retirement. Back surgery at 69 years old with a job the requires you to stand and sit a lot isn't a good combo. Coach Devils days are numbered.
Hooray hooray I say!!!!

That was such a hard fall.[laughing] Could he fall any easier without someone helping him?

I think this was just an unexpected wave of consciousness and exhaustion of the constant stream venom he was spewing at the refs there. Its got to take a hell of a lot of physical effort to do that almost every minute of every game.

I like how Krycholsky can fly all over the planet with no problems when he's coaching an undefeatable team full of the world's best players but the minute his own college team struggles then suddenly the back pain is intolerable and demands immediate surgery as opposed to the off-season.

ANYONE really believe Krycholsky would be going out if Duke was undefeated?

Sez here it's time for the Rat to retire.

how dare you desecrate him that way

Mickey doesn't deserve that

Did he try a spinal block to get him through the season or ran straight to surgery to get away from the issues of his current team? I have had 3 surgeries on my spine and had to miss work because of the physical nature of my job. If all I had to do was sit on the bench or walk around a little, I think I could have held oft a few months before having surgery. He clearly is being affected mentally as well as physically.

I almost guarantee he is giving Capel a tryout for the job right now and if he performs well, K will retire soon knowing Capel won't tarnish the Duke name. If he waits until he physically can't coach anymore and dumps the job on Capel and he can't handle it, all that K built will come tumbling down. If Capel can't succeed with a team full of McDonald's All-Americans, how will he do when the pickins get slim?

Capel will be easy to recruit against.

"He got fired from breaking the rules once, what'll stop him from doing it again."

Even tho it was bs cell phone crap. No one will ever get the k treatment again.

Throw in looming turmoil at UofL and UNC with uncertainty at Duke. UVA sitting in a good spot in the ACC the next few years.

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next month at Duke, there are some tough games, the Allen issue and who plays and how much.A tough spot to be in for an interim coach

They have 5 road games + UNC at home over the time he is likely to be out

Jesus - he's 70 years old and filthy rich and revered. Retire and spend the last few years of your life focusing on your wife, kids, and grandkids instead of chasing 18 year olds around the country so you can pad your stats as much as possible before you go.

I don't feel the least bit sorry for him.
No kidding. Statistically speaking, he's got about 8 years left if he makes the average lifespan. Being tripped by Gracie Allen and sniffed by Vitale is not how I would be spending my last years on this planet if money were no object, and it is not for him.

Dude is almost 70 yrs old and is having back surgery on a herniated disk.

How bout some of you bozos show a little class?[/QUOTE

WTF are you here talking shit to UK fans on a UK board?

Coaches don't really need to get up and pace so much. Wooden sat the whole game if memory serves.

The wheels seem to be coming off in Durham. I guess when your best player is a dirty, spoiled, whiny crybaby, and the media (finally) destroys you for the way you've overlooked his behavior, and then you get your ass handed to you in a road game because your team is overrated, means it's time to jump ship.

I have a feeling that K's coaching days may be coming to an end. If he is having surgery I don't look for him on the sidelines the rest of the season. At his age he may just retire whether he wants to or not.

He seems to be in pretty good shape physically (except for the back issue) especially for someone his age.If Duke keeps things together over the next 4 or 5 weeks he will probably be back.If they drop 3 or 4 games maybe not(not kidding)

Classic coach K...bail so your reputation is not hurt with being unable to get a mega talent team to gel.

If this team was where he wanted it, he'd put this off.

Bolden's mom and maybe even Giles', etc. HAS to be fuming. Talk Bolden into coming there, then don't play him and take half the season off. Play Giles and put his draft stock in jeopardy, etc When will someone in the media bury him for the piece of trash that he is?

Hadn't really thought much about chemistry issues until Kennard was quoted as saying something about not everyone thinking team first (or something like that). I'm guessing that was aimed at either Bolden, Allen or Tatum. Since Bolden barely plays, and Tatum just started playing major minutes, I'm thinking it was Allen.

I've heard the rift is between the returning players and the freshmen.
