CI Wrestling Thread #56

Same. Every time I see a rapper or tik tok star dies I have no idea who they were

I just don’t care like when most people die.

People die.

It’s what they do when their life is over.

Forbes headline: WWE NXT Destroys AEW Dynamite in Back-To-Back Weeks Amid Tuesday Night War

Different night, different time - I get it but that's a terrible look after re-signing with WBD and doing online victory laps. The talking point has always been competition makes WWE better, which is true. So why does competition make AEW worse? NXT went up against a VP debate and held their own. AEW went up against a concert on Prime and blamed a Marvel movie that was on before the show. If AEW has any sort of competition, they falter. It's almost as if their fans are looking for an excuse to tap out and it's beyond clear if it's WWE or AEW, most are choosing WWE.

Bronson Reed has revealed that he wasn't meant to hit Seth Rollins with six Tsunamis during iconic Raw beatdown.

"No [I was not originally supposed to give six Tsunamis to Seth Rollins]. No. I think it was supposed to be significantly less, and then the way that it turned out with Hunter’s vision is it just was more and more and more and it was one of those things where you’re listening to the audience and you can just feel a change in the audience as I was doing it. Hit the first two, they’re sort of booing. It looks like that’s it and then I go up for the third one and people sort of like, what the hell’s going on here? Then I go up for the fourth one, they can’t comprehend what’s happening and by the fifth one, they’re chanting for more. There’s like blood lust amongst the crowd for someone that they love as well. They love Seth Rollins and I was glad that it actually ended up working where after the sixth one, I left and they still started chanting, singing his music that he comes out to so, that also worked.

"As it’s happening [is when I’m informing Rollins that I’d be continuously doing the move]. So, it’s one of those things like, yeah, he has to be willing to be able to be there and I have to be willing do more but, it had definitely worked out and it made for such a great moment in television. I think I had so much buzz around that and then people online as well saying they haven’t seen something like that in WWE for so long where you can take someone and just propel them in one night with just one segment. Not a match, nothing else, just brutality."

Dude just needs to retire…

Bryan Danielson revealed he lost strength in his legs during his match with Kazuchika Okada on Dynamite, during a conversation with Anthony Sulla-Heffinger of The Uncrowned

“Midway through the match, I started losing strength in my legs,” Danielson admitted.

“There's a point later in the match where I'm trying to kick him and I can't turn over my kicks. That's something that I have the body mechanics to do because I have been doing it for so long, but here I am and I can't turn my hip over for this kick. When I got to the back, I went to the trainer right away and they worked on me for like 30 minutes. They said it was stemming from the neck stuff. It's getting to a point where, physically, we're seeing the signs. I haven't been sleeping well because I have been having this shooting pain down my arm.”

Yeah, gonna assume Mox goes over now. Maybe I’m wrong.

But this guy is only in his mid 40s. Miz had a point about how Danielson works.

While Danielson is incredible, a fan favorite in two top companies, and seems to be a super good dude, I think his entire AEW run was a bit awkward and weak. The BCC thing sucked and was just a dollar store version of The Shield with some dude named Wheeler. Because of constant injuries, he'd often just do commentary for random BCC matches. When he was in the ring, he'd scream "AMATEUR" over and over which was annoying. It felt like he'd switch from face and heel for whatever reason, had heatless dream matches on Collision with elder Japanese wrestlers, and finally won the title because everyone knew he was winding down and TK basically forced it on him to have a special AEW moment. And it hasn't been clear if he's now done for good or just opting to wrestle a couple times per year, which is sort of confusing on it's own.

Regardless, we could have a situation where by 2030 we've got Punk (and maybe AJ Lee?) heavily involved with NXT and Danielson doing similar with ROH or AEW.

Zack Sabre Jr. beat Naito today for the IWGP title. Tanahashi announced he's retiring at Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January of 2026.

Young Bucks will wrestle at the New Japan/AEW show in January.

The ref should have just said the shoulders weren't down and not counted until they fixed it. That was bad.

I had no problem with the end of Wrestle Dream show. It may not have been the way I would have done it but if that what Danielson wanted then so be it.

The bad guys have to win sometimes, otherwise what's the point.

Man IWGP has gone so far down the last few years - if ZSJ is your champ yikes

Coachman said the ref shouldn’t have counted it and they should have done a different finishing spot for the pin 30-60 seconds after that.
