CI Wrestling Thread #56

Punk was huge even before he had Cult of Personality.

Matt Hardy said a week after Jeff’s firing that people should wait before they judge. That Jeff had taken a drug test and it would come back clean.

If Vince’s moms last name is Askew, does that mean Vince and Devin are brothers?

I may not hate a woman rassler more than Bianca Belair. I used to like her but she's so manufactured that it's nausiating. You can guarantee she's going to do that stupid skip while spinning her hair and every damn promo consists of "Gurlllll uh uh" or "You don't even go here".
Agreed. I absolutely hate her hair.

I'm sure it's gimmick hair weaved in but why if you're going to be in a combat sport (at least worked combat sport). Save that hair for denim skirts and ball shoes at the holiness church. She's a great hand despite still being relatively new to the game, I just hate the presentation. Plus she's a Vol.

I wish that WWF would have one of these randoms would win the Rumble instead of the trash current roster gals. Not no damn Ronda Rousey which I'd not be surprised to see return. Becky is running out of challengers so I'm sure they'll just rehash that rivalry.

Love seeing Sarah Logan back. Probably can't bring her back to do any good programs or put her in the title scene but she seems well liked and isn't a bad worker. She'd be a good show filler. I'd re-sign her.

Louisville native too

Loved the outcome to that title match. It gets Heyman back with Reigns and keeps the Reigns/Lesnar feud going strong. I'm sure that was the longterm plan but Brock is kind of old school. Even though he probably knows the down the road parts to the storyline, you can tell he really respects Lashley to be willing to put him over in their first match. Bobby may not be the best on the mic, but him being a mainstay in the title picture is long overdue.

I usually enjoy the rumble mo matter how much WWE I’ve watched in the previous year. This on just flat out sucked.

Felt like nothing really happened.

  • Universal title match was legitimately good but gets completely ruined by a DQ finish lol
  • Women's Rumble has part-timer Rousey win it with seemingly half the wrestlers in it being retired
  • Raw women's title match had as predictable of a result as you could ever see in a major PPV match. lol at the notion that someone named ****ing Doudrop and someone that looks like that is ever going to beat Becky Lynch
  • WWE title match only sees a title change after Reigns interferes, yet somehow that wasn't a DQ. Where's the consistency?
  • Then a stupid mixed tag match that I can't imagine anyone gave a shit about
  • Then in the men's Rumble we had stupid shit like:
    • A bunch of low to mid car guys featured. But I guess that makes sense because Vince can't figure out how to get more than like 5 guys booked as main eventers
    • The Intercontinental champion being the second elimination
    • The United States champion not getting a single elimination
    • The Raw tag champs had one total elimination, and that was 300+ pound Otis eliminating the smallest wrestler in the event in Rey Mysterio
    • Midcard jabronis Happy Corbin and Omos tied for the second most eliminations at 3. AJ Styles and Lesnar had the most at 5.
    • A clown in Johnny Knoxville
    • Madcap Moss taking out AJ Styles
    • Bad Bunny having two eliminations, which was more or equal to the total eliminations for each of the following quality wrestlers (or at least ones that are pretty over): Zayn, Boogs, Owens, Orton, Riddle, Austin Theory, Angelo Dawkins, Big E, Ziggler, Preist, McIntyre Kingston, Montez Ford, Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura
    • Shane McMahon eliminating Kevin Owens
    • Zero surprise entrances other than maybe McIntyre and Bad Bunny, and who gives a shit about Bad Bunny as a wrestler
    • All while finishing with the most predictable result ever in yet another part-timer winning it in Brock when Brock winning is not needed for Vince to put him in the main event given how the WWE title match finished
So we get the match of the night easily being a match that ended in a DQ (based on what I am reading since I didn't watch anything after that), we get to see a bunch of retired and mid to low card talent featured on one of the biggest PPVs of the year, two part-timers getting the honor of headlining WrestleMania, and once again setting up more of the same ole, same ole tired shit for the top of the card because Vince doesn't have a single ****ing clue what he is doing.

WWE is a ****ing joke. Even WWE lifers who still refuse to admit WWE is mid are admitting this was a complete shithole PPV.

Imagine if WWE still did PPVs and someone had paid $50+ for that shit.

Just now catching up on rumble stuff. So from what I understand the sign caught first during the womens rumble when the pyro happened. So instead of not doing pyro for the mens they just moved the fans out of that section, did the pyro and it caught fire again!? All of that just so they can do that dumbass point at the sign thing? 😂 what a joke

I didn’t catch this before but on the pre show Booker T said Brock was winning the Rumble, even though he wasn’t entered.

Overall not the best Rumble at least in my opinion.

There’s not a single person who came out of the rumble looking better than they did before. The only person that really got a push was Bad Bunny. They didn’t tell a single story through the whole match.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before.

Also, why is this Shield betrayal still a key point in the current feud of Rollins and Reigns? Not including house shows and dark matches, they faced off against each other in various different match formats 43 times since Rollins betrayed Reigns and Moxley in 2014 and up through 2020. Miraculously Vince did not manage to have them wrestle with or against each other at all in 2021. Is Reigns just going to act like a simple bitch about this for the rest of his career, or did Rollins betray them again when they had reunions?

Now with 161 votes to put in the top 75 for most rated WWE event, it's at 2.52. To compare it to other super weekly shows, PPVs, and "premiere live events", it ranks as the 10 worst rated of all-time, NXT/Kickoff shows excluded
