CI Wrestling Thread #56

It's Gabby Ortiz, I believe the match was on Dark this week.

Since I do it for AEW should mention now that football is over Raw was the number one show on cable Monday night. The three hours were 1,2 and 3 averaging 1,766,000 viewers and a .46 in the demo.

AEW Beach Break Preview for tonight from Cleveland, is there a beach there?

AEW TNT Champion Cody vs. AEW Interim TNT Champion Sammy Guevara
in a Ladder Match to determine the Undisputed TNT Champion.

Santana & Ortiz & Chris Jericho vs. Daniel Garcia & 2.0.
Lights Out Match: Adam Cole vs Orange Cassidy.
Red Velvet vs Leyla Hirsch.
Also appearing are Dr. Britt Baker and CM Punk.

I did not know that WWE has a guy under the ring at every show. He has a little clubhouse built down there, does the maintenance, and positions the weapons and props, as well help aide the talent when they're under the ring and on the headset with gorilla. I knew this happened sometimes but had no idea it's the whole show.

ADR was trash - he brought nothing

Duggan had a good push then pissed someone off so he was relegated to midcard but was still popular

Duggan, a babyface, pissed off the entire business after he and Iron Shiek, a heel, were caught with weed and coke while riding in the same car when kayfabe was still alive. That was a big no-no in those days. Duggan’s career path changed that day.

Yup that’s the story - couldn’t remember but that’s the one

Ass Boys makes me laugh everytime. Especially seeing how mad it makes Austin.

Prediction: OC beats Cole tonight. I figure that’s the only reason it’s a lights out match, so it doesn’t go on their win loss record.

They apparently lay on their bellies by the monitor like a kid's sleepover watching TV. This is all per Mox's book I've been reading.

He also sheds light on Kevin Dunn and just the BS nonsense created by the egos of those in power. Told a story about how when Ambrose was US Champ back in 2014 (?) that he got called into the production van by Kevin Dunn ("the guy responsible for the nauseating quick camera cuts that probably give your kid a seizure"-Mox). Two days after the PPV, Dunn calls him in and shows him video. Ambrose can be heard "Give me my f___g belt" to the ref. Considering the ring is mic'd, you're bound to pick stuff up. Anyway, Ambrose is really repentant, apologizes profusely. Gave a hearty handshake to Dunn who was sooo nice to him and Ambrose left feeling good about the meeting.

Not long after, Michael Hayes passes Ambrose in the hallway and says, "Wellllll, I don't think that was the right kind of apology for the push we want to give you." Ambrose was confused because he thought things were good considering how they left it and how nice Dunn was to his face.

Said one line by Dunn or interpretation by him and he can alter your career and apparently has to former wrestlers. "That's a lot of power and that power breeds ego. Connecticut, old rich boys club ego."

Pretty good insight in why people grow to hate the mothership.

Dunn should be banned from the sport for those quick camera cuts alone.

I remember reading PWI and they even acknowledged the incident in there after it happened.

I was against the rail of the entry way at a house show once and they just had Hornswaggle run down when all the lights were off. I doubt you could have seen him from anywhere else but he just ran right by me.

100% Cassidy goes over tonight against Cole. It gives Cassidy the “momentum”, but also protects Cole from taking the L. Anything else would seem silly. Also, I believe uncle Dave said expect Gargano coming in tonight. Apparently Gargano and best friends have a good past? I’m unaware. I think Gargano debuting is fine, but give Wardlow something since it’s his home town as well.

I don't know about the Best Friends but he and Candice worked with the Bucks a lot back in their indy days.

Would like to see Wardlow finally turn on MJF but they may save that for the PPV maybe.

another johnny jobber debuting tonight, lol.

I'm glad Adam Cole and Orange Cassidy could put aside their white-hot hate for one another to walk up to one another and just stare at each other on a beach obviously a thousand miles from where Beach Break is taking place.
