CI Wrestling Thread #56

Am I understanding correctly that CM Punk’s big return to wrestling is going to be a match against Darby Allin on AEW’s second show?

😐

I really thought Matt Cardona was going to come out and help Jericho win.

That was a glorified freakshow.

The irony of selling all of that blood and hurt and injury when Cash Wheeler suffered a legit injury and they quick-ended the match.

15 years ago I’d been all over that match, now not so much.
Thinking they should tone down the blood for a while but then I remembered Cody has to bleed in every big match. Maybe after next week.
I’m more interested in seeing Juvi than ever seeing Gage again.

Now we know which wrestling company won the bidding war for Juventud Guerrera.

What if Jericho's last labor was...Brock Lesnar? They've been talking about a bigger surprise than either Bryan or Punk...

Opening the Forbidden Door is making just about anything possible.

I’m thinking having Punk debut on Rampage is an audible. They wanted him to debut on one of the 3 Chicago shows the week of All Out but they’re worried Covid is going to shut things down again and mess up the Chi/STL/NYC shows.

So next best option is run the United Center a few weeks before hand, right before SummerSlam. I’m just curious how tickets will move when there’s already 3 shows worth of tickets bought for just right after the 20th.

The thought of shows being shut down again makes me extremely sad. I can’t deal with more fake fans and crowd noises in wrestling.

I thought Dynamite was alright last night. It was a mistake to open up with that 10 man and have Hangman lose, seemed to drain the crowd the rest of the show. Curious what they do with him now, hopefully this gets him away for the DO.

Theres got to be some swerve for that Darby tease.

I don’t have a problem with deathmatches, but they shouldn’t be on National tv.

Just my opinion I think Brock has a better chance of doing MMA again than going to AEW, though it would be fun just to see the IWC lose their minds.

I'll be curious to what the ratings are for last night, especially the 1/4 hours when they come out.

Airing on SyFy NXT did 520,000 viewers on Tuesday night.

I thought the opener was perfect. Right team won. I’ve thought all along All Out was too soon for Hangman to beat Omega for the belt. Gotta be Full Gear at the earliest. Still amazed by the DO and Elite entrances last night.

I don’t know that you can swerve the Darby thing. If 10-20k people show up to the United Center and Punk never shows up then they might actually riot.

The Brock thing is odd. I just can’t see AEW being an option nor any other promotion. And at his age I doubt he’d wanna go back to MMA. I’d lean towards that report being bs.

calling the WON/F4w board a group of insiders is a joke. Theres Dave Meltzer, Bryan Alvarez, and maybe 2 other people that are 'insiders" and none of them are saying Brock is going to AEW

I don’t disagree with that, but it seems so obvious and AEW likes to try and make surprises, so I could see something else going down. I do think Punk is AEW bound, just not sure it happens on that Rampage.

Danielson use to call himself the best in the world too…

I would 100% pivot and do Omega vs Punk if I were AEW.
