CI Wrestling Thread #56

I’m by no means a Cena fan and super Cena is one of the things that ruined my interest in wwe but he is infinitely more popular and famous than the buckz will ever be so anytime they take a shot or make fun of someone like him it comes off as juvenile and envious of his fame and again taking a shot at wwe but I’m sure their small base loves it.

im old enough to remember when AEW would say they weren’t going to do anything to acknowledge the WWF, and on the first show, Cody busted the HHH throne, and...etc, etc, etc

Honestly, Cena deserves to be made fun of for his apology, and the Bucks should ALSO be made fun of for pulling their little poke at Cena on their social media down. This transcends the wrestling community. All this Chinese @ss-kissing is absolutely sickening.

Speaking of...

John Cena had to apologize to China for calling Taiwan a country in a recent interview to promote the “F9” film after he received backlash for it.

He mistakenly stated that Taiwan was the first country to see the movie. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast noted on Twitter that some talent are disappointed in him while the apology bothers WWE officials.

Zarian wrote regarding the feeling in WWE, “The apology bothers them because they didn’t issue it. It was outside pressure that they have no control over… A lot of the chatter from non executive level status was negative. Personally I don’t know what the boards opinion was but I have heard it’s not positive”

CM Punk changed his bio to the Taiwan thing as well, but has since changed it back.

Thought folks might get a kick out of this one...

this is why I hate so much in politics...

I dislike AEW, criticize them for a missed opportunity to truly compete with the wwe, but have zero desire to go to one of their shows just to disrupt it. That’s what childish college students with no real life experience do.

Oh I would bet the young bucks will put him in VIP and really give him the red carpet treatment

I think it said "Taiwan is a country"

Feels weird at least for me with no Dynamite on this evening. Reportedly they will be on Friday night for the next few weeks. I believe there might be one Saturday night too.

I know you miss my ratings tweets so here you go: Raw did 1.642 million which is the lowest number of 2021 and may be the fourth lowest number in history.

NXT did 698,000 and a .13 in the 18-49. Thought it would be much more with the big title match.

I don't expect Dynamite to do huge numbers on Friday, especially airing right after Smackdown.

I’m watching the first double or nothing back and this was amazing. Too to bottom was so good. AEW needs to go back to this. I still think the lack of fans have made this difficult to watch, so we’ll see what happens Sunday. I’ve bought all of their ppv’s, I don’t plan on stopping now.

I don't really care about the content of the Cena video. I mean, he's always going to be a company man for whoever he works for. My concern was that he's beginning to look like the old man from the Enter Sandman video.

So uncle Dave is speculating that all the wwe restructuring might lead to a sale - not sure if he has a mole there or just speculation

  • Summerslam has been confirmed for Allegient Stadium in Las Vegas but the date is still up in the air
  • The main event is set and "it's a very big main event, especially by WWE's current standards." It's a match that "hasn't been seen often." A hint that was dropped was "you can't see what you can't believe"
  • There is a guest host for Summerslam that is "bizarre." "This person will fit the vibe of the theme of the show"
  • Cena's apology caused a "massive issue" within WWE. Vince McMahon sent out an email about the situation although the contents within it are unknown. "A lot of the talent were disappointed in [Cena]." "This affects the company because they have plans for John happening very soon."
  • WWE has merged all their digital departments that will be overseen by Kevin Dunn. "If this was any other company, I would bet they were getting ready to sell."
  • Jimmy Smith started being groomed for a commentator role May 8. Has worked exclusively with Michael Cole ever since.
  • For the Texas shows, they're selling at "2019 levels." Unknown if that's good or bad. "They have a plan [for when they hit the road]. They are bringing people back. Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble will be very big shows. Survivor Series may be bigger than Summerslam."
  • Cameron Grimes and LA Knight will have a feud over the Million Dollar Belt. Match is scheduled for June 8 or Takeover In Your House.
  • Stadium Stampede will be partially cinematic and partially live.

Cena v. Roman is an interesting pick for the first big event back.

as Vince as gotten older and they’ve gotten more corporate, I’ve always thought this was the case. Its the way the world is. I kinda think it may kill off the rest of their fan base, but...

Cena vs. Roman 2 would be interesting.

The Sting match will be live on Sunday and not cinematic.

PwInsider says Las Vegas is the leader in the clubhouse for Summerslam but a few other places are being considered.

"Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, NRG Stadium in Houston, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and Nissan Stadium in Nashville are all under consideration."

Buff really isn't the stuff anymore
Is he still a man-ho?

notice he’s ignored my reply to him, lol
My options were email you or piss off. Since idgaf enough to email you about a topic that’s common knowledge I just decided to piss off. I know someone with limited brain capacity such as yourself may have been confused by that but it wasn’t that hard to figure out what was happening.

here’s a couple links backing up my claim. So I guess that ONE store was an anomaly or you were FOS. These were hot topic sales alone.

if I have limited brain capacity, you must be legally brain dead (hence why everyone makes fun of you)

Listen, my disdain for Zay and The Bucks is well established, but Bullet Club shirts were absolutely a hot item when they were first sold at Hot Topic.

It’s part of the reason why people mockingly called AEW a t-shirt company.

Oh ok so it’s the girl who was wrong. Got ya.

um, no you dimwit...she reported exactly what was happening at her store

(also, you know a big percentage of those buying those shirts? They weren’t buying them because they thought they gun shirts. I’ve seen 4 people ever in Louisville wearing and guess what? When I asked if they were wrestling fans, three of the thought it was some kind of gun shirt that looked kinda cool.

guess what else dimwit? She told me probably half the people that even bought them thought the same thing.

guess what else dimwit? Besides Cornette, I know others in the wrestling business? You know what they joked about? Yep, the same thing!

so, I’m willing to bet that half the shirts they even sold were people who had no idea who they even were...it was a cool looking shirt. Congrats to them for selling some shirts, but still never has grown their audience, even after two years. Bravo.

Now please, go away.

So is this argument exclusive to quantity of what hot topic sold or that bullet club didn’t sell as much?
