CI Wrestling Thread #56

Don't have Netflix and not planning on getting it just to watch Raw. Will try to find recaps or something. If the PLE's go to Netflix then I might have to rethink that.
Summerfest sounded like a good show, haven't watched yet. Don't understand Bayley losing. Guess everyone related to The Rock needs a title. Everything else even Roman's return seemed to be what folks thought would happen.
Anyway Raw for tonight

WWE Summerslam fallout.
New WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER to appear.
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre to appear.
The Wyatt Sicks vs. Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers.
Dakota Kai vs. Sonya Deville.
Sheamus vs. Ludwig Kaiser.
Awesome Truth vs. A Town Down Under.
New Day vs AOP.
Looks like smack down last Friday and raw today are the matches that didn’t make the summerslam cut

We traded getting the rock for wm for Nia getting the women’s belt

You don't need Netlfix just for one show. I had an outage the night Ripley returned. Used my phone data, went to YouTube, and the clip was up at 11:01pm. Felt like I had missed nothing.

The WWE/Netflix relationship will likely continue though and I think we'll eventually have the Network and PLE's there. Plus future docs and limited series might be produced by Netflix. I can easily see a 5 or 6 episode Road to WrestleMania series happening in a few years, covering the ins and outs from the Rumble to Mania.
Agree there’s like 5 or 10 people on X that post clips basically in real time or at most a 5 minute lag from real time.

I have Netflix and it's $17 for me. I probably don't watch it enough to justify the cost but I'll keep it for Raw. If anything, it's tradition. I've probably missed less than 15 Raws since I began watching in early '94. I'm glad clips are available almost immediately but that sorta sounds like a hassle for me on a Mon. night. Just waiting for various clips and such. Paying around $25 a month ain't happening though. Not paying a streaming service anywhere close to $300 per year.

- God Bless, I love pissed off Priest and Ripley together. Liv, Dom, and Finn will have several near escapes until Badd Blood.

- Rollins looked like Adam Page tonight.

- Adam Pierce is pretty terrible at his job.

And just like that Damien and Rhea are Faces ... and Liv is a heel. Although I like Liv's face (and the rest of her too - but that is a different story).

If we get more Raw's like that one might have to rethink the Netflix thing.

Random stuff
Being reported several places Lucha Bros AEW deal is up this fall and are leaving, likely to WWE.

Rampage did its lowest rating ever on Friday- 207,000 and a .07

I usually at least DVR it but didn't bother this week, card looked MEH.

I feel like they should retool Rampage as an hour long ROH show. It’s been dreadful for years now. Nothing of significance ever happens and it’s usually competitive matches with low card guys or midcarders squashing jobbers.

WBD apparently has no interest in ROH. Tony just wanted it for its library because he didn't want WWE swooping in eventually and taking it to add to its network. TK probably feels as though he "saved" ROH but he himself pretty much turned it into a corpse. It's possible under a new deal it can be rebranded to AEW ROH like NXT is technically WWE NXT but right now, no one wants ROH.

I'm guessing we get Rampage and Collision as one, three hour show or something.

I think I’ve posted that same sentiment before.

Had been talked about and now is happening. The first two episodes of NXT when it goes to the CW Network will be arena shows. The first in Chicago and second in St. Louis with Punk appearing on the first and Orton the second.
The October 8th episode will go against Dynamite, which is getting moved to Tuesday due to the MLB Playoffs.

So it's a "World's Wildest _____" except written by D-list comedians to be narrated by AEW wrestlers on grainy video footage from somewhere in the bowels of a municipal auditorium? Got it.
Ya so basically AEW has decided to alienate any casual or lapsed fan.

Dynamite for tonight, card subject to change due to travel issues from the Hurricane.

AEW American (International) Champion MJF vs. Kyle Fletcher (non-title)
No DQ, No Time Limit: Bryan Danielson vs. Jeff Jarrett with Ricky Steamboat as guest referee.
Bryan Keith vs. Katsuyori Shibata.
Mariah May vs. Viva Van.

So MJF is wrestling twice tonight? Cool!

Respect to MJF for doing what's needed, being responsible, and making the drive but that current card looks dreadful. Those weird shows where something that's uncontrollable has occurred like a snowstorm can sometimes produce fun shows but MJF likely struggling to beat Fletcher and Double J in a No Time Limit match in 2024...uhh.

This Kyle Fletcher kid is growing on me. Seems like he’s developing a bit of personality lately. He might be something one day.
