This current state is just how it's going to be for at least a while. Too much money and prestige. We just have to get used to it. We also need to hope we can adjust to avoid annually being middle of the pack.

Meh, I don't get all the hype for how strong the league is this year. SEC is .500 in league play so there is lots of room for improvement.

Absolutely. I want to win 30 plus games a year, compete for a elite eights and final fours, and dominate the SEC.

I thought these were things that all Kentucky fans wanted, but I'm sure that there's fans that like 7-7 records and 7th or 8th place finishes in the SEC.

I love the SEC as it is today. I love the competitive games night after night. If you want us to rule the SEC like we did in the past, then we must get better. I just think you have a case, hopefully temporary, of chickenshits. That is the only way to explain the fact that you want the league to be weaker so we can win it.

That comes with a couple of footnotes though, right?

Louisville has 3 fewer losses, but even as injured as we are, we're still a projected 3 seed, they're looking at a 7 seed.

The other footnote is we have 2 extremely key players out and we are playing a top 5 SOS, those 2 players are expected back, so really, we are better than what our record indicates.

Presently, this conference is historically great. There is no greater collection of coaches out there. Right now, it's going to be a murderer's row each season going forward, so long as Golden, Oats, Pearl, Beard, Gates, Jans, Moser, and Barnes are in this league.

We need two or three of those guys to leave if we're going to keep pace with Kansas in the all-time wins lead. I'm hoping Golden takes the Indiana job. I don't want to deal with him over the next decade. Oats to UNC wouldn't be bad either, or even if he decided to jump to the NBA.

And for those of you who suggest that Kentucky needs these other elite teams in order to prepare for March, that's fallacy. UK dominated college basketball when the SEC was top-heavy with just three or four great teams (1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2012).

It's too early to say that. You can't make any grand proclamations in year 1, when the league is better than it's ever been.

The days of a few blue bloods has diminished with the advent of nil and the portal.
I don't like it, but it's now a part of college sports.
This makes going undefeated at home much harder because of the parity.
