That’s what makes it all the more baffling that he used that line - uncle Dave literally makes a different excuse every week for the struggling ratings
I can't sleep so I'll dive into this.
There's a lot of hand-holding between AEW and wrestling media. I think it's because we know there needs to be more than just WWE and TNA so they're going to prop up the new kid even if he's bug-eyed drunk off Yoo-hoo. Watch when the WBD deal is announced. The media heads will make it seem bigger than any recent WWE deal when we all assumed AEW was fairly stable. AEW on TUBI was an online joke, no one really thought they were going to collapse.
After the first republican debate, Dynamite got a low rating and SRS blamed politics. AEW's audience skews younger and more progressive. I'm sorry but the audience who brings Trans Rights signs to a wrestling show is not switching from AEW to a republican debate to watch Haley and DeSantis square off for second place lol. Meltzer brought up a new demo range to give AEW the edge recently when NXT beat Dynamite in the normal demo. That's weird, twisting yourself into a pretzel type shit.
Dynamite is slowly trending in the right direction, which is needed. It took two PPV quality matches and their two best going an hour to hit 795K. A year ago, 795K would've been considered mediocre. Two years ago, dreadful. Now? Dave is in the streets with a trumpet up his ass farting 'Wild Thing' and yelling "Whose House?!?!" for an average number below 800K.

I enjoyed the set up of Collision on Saturday night. Looked better than having 2,500 in a 15,000 seat arena.

Looks like Warner Brothers has decided to match Amazon's 1.8 billion bid for the NBA. We'll soon see if the league decides to stick with them. Guessing that would be less money potentially for AEW rights.

WOR: Bobby Lashley & MVP both are going to be gone from WWE when their contracts expire, which is relatively soon.
There is talk of trying to get them into AEW, and that they're going to try to revamp The Hurt Business with Shelton Benjamin who's also a free agent.

Lashley's still a beast but can't talk and is nearly 50. Not sure AEW needs more useless managers, ex-WWE guys, and factions but we'll see. TK also has trouble booking muscle men. He won't allow them to dominate because AEW's whole thing is to give the Orange Cassidy's, Danny Garcia's, and Jack Perry's of the world the chances WWE wouldn't give them.

Also it seems like TK stacking dynamite lately is at the expense of rampage and collision which have been terrible.
If I’m TK I make rampage an ROH weekly (like nxt is on Tuesdays) show since he throws a handful of ROH guys on AEW every week anyways at least you’d get more eyes on the product and maybe more subscribers to honor club.
Don’t see any reason for AEW to sign Lashley and crew. At least IMHO.
I don’t see any reason for Jericho to drain 15 minutes of dynamite every week yet here we are…
We will probably get Lashley and Mox in some quasi MMA fight then he will disappear for a month.
Shooting from the hip but I think In mid 2000s he was presented as a future main event superstar but couldn’t quite put it together and got released a few years after his debut.
MVP was good in his first run. Not great. Had a good feud with Benoit and a fun one with Matt Hardy. But at this point he doesn’t have a whole lot to offer

McAfee called it a Frankensteiner on Raw. Is that the first time they have mentioned the name Steiner. They made a big deal about.
I know it's the Olympics is why they are on SyFy next week but it's funny to think about when Raw got canceled altogether for the Westminster Dog Show every year.

I think it has been mentioned before. I wonder why they didn't use the Steiner name with him. Maybe trying to make his own path? But he is using the Dogface Gremlin bark. I'd love to see him roll out with wrestling headgear and a varsity jacket.
I never understood why Brian Christopher and Jerry Lawler kept aloof about their father/son relationship, especially in the era of blending real life storylines into gimmicks. To my knowledge, they never worked a storyline together or ever acknowledged each other as father/son on air.
Taz is kinda doing that with Hook, but will at least acknowledge him as his son if it gets brought up. It’s pretty evident that he won’t be a part of a program with him, though.
