Uh naw dawg he’s requesting that one dude name who the Marty Jannetty of those teams is because both members were really solid and the team didn’t have just one real star.

Some good examples I guess. Some are a stretch.

No I was replying to his “Seems like virtually every tag team (though I know they aren’t a tag team now) has one guy that’s better than the other. Someone is seemingly always the Jannetty of the team.”

So I threw some off the top of my head that were good to great that didn’t have a “janetty”

Yes I know some great teams had a breakout star in waiting but just as many that didn’t.

Jey is the better Uso, but the gap between the two is nowhere close to the gap between Shawn and Marty.

Hahaha sure but you’re being pretty picky

Blue bloods were Eaton/regal
Gordy did pretty good in Japan
Rick Martel did pretty good
Akeem/one man gang had a decent career I think he was wcw us champ

None of those really eclipse the difference between Shawn/marty but wwf gave Marty many chances not to screw himself over yet he did.

He did outside the ring. Totally different but he was good and while they were together I’d say it was heavily thought Marty was the better of the 2 until well after the split.

A little bit of revisionist history there given a little bit of hindsight.

The Miz/Paul match was damn good. Rock's promo will be polarizing since it's not like he said anything unheard of. He got his point across though. We did have possibly the biggest match ever on the biggest stage and pitched a fit for a storybook ending for the company face who looks like a prom king (minus the tat). In storyline, Rock manipulated Cody and he reneged after his fans had conniption fits. Likely won't happen because it gives Rock sympathy and makes some of Cody's fans look nuts, but Rock blaming the crybabies for sending online death threats to his daughter would take this to a more personal level. It would make sense since we went from Rock and Cody sharing words together in ring to Rock weeks later calling him and his fans losers and crybabies.

That’s more illogical than just believing he randomly changed his mind.

I’d be more likely to believe that Arn Anderson held a Glock to his head backstage and told Cody to stop letting Rock cuckold him out of the WM main event title shot.

But hey the Rock is back twerking for us now to try to distract everyone from WWE’s decades long sex trafficking operation.
I believe in rocks promo in Vegas he said that there is one royal family in professional wrestling.

Idk why this angle could possibly trigger you to the point of writing entire paragraphs about it. Cody allows Rock to step in to take over the bloodline. Rock appears uses his opportunity to shit on Cody and what he stands for. Cody changes his mind and steps back into the picture. This is the hottest that pro wrestling has been in 20 years. Thanks to WWE and AEW. What is your ultimate goal in shitting on something obviously beneficial for all parties involved?

Bolded are ones I agree with you on
  • Midnight express - Bobby Eaton > Stan Lane and Dennis COndrey (yes, there were two versions of the tag team both featuring Bobby Eaton)
  • Rock n roll express - Ricky Morton > Robert Gibson
  • Blue bloods - IS this referring to the stable that most frequently had Eaton and Dave Taylor tagging togehter? If so Eaton > Taylor and it;s not even close
  • LOD - Hawk > Animal
  • Williams/gordy - Williams > Gordy
  • FTR - Dax is generally regarded higher than Cash as a singles guy though the gap is small at best. I personally disagree and think Cash is better, so I'll give you that one.
  • Doom - Butch Reed and Ron Simmons? Ron Simmons and there's a bigger gap here than Eaton and Taylor
  • Fabulous ones - Stan Lane > Steve Keirn easily
  • Demolition - Smash > Ax though neither were particularly remarkable standing on their own. PErfect example of two guys collectively being greater than the sum of their pats
  • Akeem/bossman - Bossman > One Man Gang and the gap is quite significant
  • Brainbusters - Arn > Tully
  • Mega Powers - Even though both Hogan and Savage were damn good, Hogan was the icon of wrestling in the 80s and for a good bit of the 90s, so yeah Hogan > Savage
  • New age outlaws - Daddy Ass > Road Dogg
  • Edge/christian - I'll give you this one because Vince was a dumbass for never really pushing Christian
  • Dudleys - Bubba Ray > D-Von
  • Free birds - Terry Gordy > Buddy Roberts and Michael Hayes
  • Strike force - Martel > Santana
  • Young bucks - Nick Jackson generally regarded better than Matt Jackson though the difference is definitely there but it's not much so essentially a push

Maybe this will be an unforgettable eight star match. I know very little about Japanese wrestling but I've seen Copeland wrestle a struggling 55 year old Japanese wrestler and Danielson will wrestle a 54 year old Japanese wrestler in a match that is being hyped up a week in advance. Let me guess - this is a fantasy booked match with no story? I just...I don't get how this randomness and positioning Japanese wrestlers in their mid-50's into matches like this helps your product.

I hate these matches more than anything AEW does. TK is essentially letting this shit destroy his product. Everyone bitches about the Bucks and Kenny and blah blah blah. Letting Danielson turn his show into a Kobe final tour is what's going to kill their product. Letting Moxley go out there and face Japanese legends from 2 decades ago is what's going to kill their product.

No story? Akiyama is Eddie Kingston’s hero. Danielson vs. Eddie happening in two weeks.

Fulham (the Khan’s team) lost at Aston Villa today with TK, Orange, and Darby in attendance

And Aston Villa posted this on social media afterward lol

Iron Claw is good, would have been better if I didn't already know the story like the back of my hand though.

If you haven't seen it yet and somehow aren't familiar with the Von Erich story then I suggest not looking into it any before watching.

The way Dave Meltzer talks about the von Erich’s is proof positive that he lives in an absurd wrestling bubble. He said on his podcast the other day that people were more upset about David Von erich than John Lennon and he’d go to the mall and see women everywhere weeping over it.

Cody was able to make a lot of his own decisions and it doomed his time there and turned the fans against him. Once he got back to WWE, they took over his creative and now he's the babyface of pro wrestling. Danielson is likely retiring by 2025 so it's clear he's chosen to wrestle these random heroes and legends of Japan. I'm sure him vs Okada will be special but I feel like these matches are now more for the wrestlers themselves and their own scorecards than for the fans.

I kind of believe it. Guys like Cornette and Austin would probably say the same thing. I used to roll my eyes at some of Cornette's old school wrestling stories, and while I'm sure some of that is still embellished, the footage is out there showing how wild those territorial shows in the 70s and 80s were. Plus, it's Texas. It's God, football, and pro wrestling, particularly back decades ago.

Danielson is retiring as a full-time wrestler after either All In or All Out 2024

I have the same opinion. Suziki is terrible. I don’t understand the appeal. I’m assuming Suzuki used to be good? I am not familiar with Akiyama. This match excites me none.

How many guys over 50 do they have?

Who is the they in your question, AEW, New Japan, or DDT (company Akiyama is signed to)?

You just inadvertently nailed the crux of the issue for AEW. TK thinks the average wrestling fan has the time to not only watch all AEW programming but also ROH, New Japan, DDT, and now CMLL. As a kid I was able to watch Raw and a lot of Nitro, Thunder, SD, WCW Saturday night, Clash of the Champions, and Sunday Night Heat. Fans of any age now aren't going to watch like 16 hours of wrestling per week plus live on wrestling reddits and Cagematch.nerd. They're also not going to invest time researching clips on YT like they're studying for a wrassle quiz given by their teacher Mr. Khan.

Dump these random 50+ Japanese guys who move in silence because they can't speak the language and if there's going to be some sort of invasion angle, you should probably make sure the viewer recognizes the invaders. Remember the response the Wyatt Family got when they debuted on Raw? They were in NXT when many felt that was the best WWE show and had several video packages before their main roster debut. Guys like Cornette are correct - Tony really does believe the rest of us just know the ins and outs of several smaller promotions around the globe. Most wrestling fans had no idea what Cagematch was until a month ago.
