I know it's nice to say that NBA star went here for one year and we have plenty to cheer for but me personally I only watch the conference finals in the NBA. I cheer for the Blue and White Jersey that says Kentucky across the chest and whoever wears it. After they leave I really don't follow them because I have a whole new team to follow. My point is so many posts reflect that one team doesn't develope talent and others do.

Do we really want to say we have 50 players in the league and only one title. I'm all for kids reaching their dreams but players in the league v/s NCAA titles will never compare in my book. Just seems like so many posters are caught up in how many players we have in league. Maybe we should start an ex-players in the league forum so they can focus on that since they are all about who's going to NBA.

You are just making this up. Everyone on here is UK first. Most of us just enjoy seeing our guys do well in the NBA after.

I have been a Cats fan first, following the NBA only during the playoffs. But if the NCAA doesn't do something to UNCheats before the start of next season, I am going to fine me an NBA team to root for.

At least the NBA has some integrity, unlike the hypocrisy of the NCAA.

Not me...like 99.9% of UK Basketball fans. I only care about watching one and dones at the next level. Could not even care if we lose every game...as long as I get to see former players in the NBA. Same as Cal, he is completely satisfied with losing, not winning championships, he just rolls the ball out there. Its all gooood

To me the NBA is
unwatchable until playoff time, but I feel that way with the NFL too (I'm a Bears fan and they suck, so that's why).
I prefer college sports, but in particular, UK. I couldn't care less about draft picks or how many players UK has in the league, I want UK to crush it in every sport they play in, especially basketball.

But I can already tell this thread is going to get heated, so I'm glad I'm posting early.

Also, you're going to need your sarcasm meters turned on before you read @Blueaz 's post. Ha ha.

Ridiculous take.

It's better then saying 0 NBA players and 0 titles.

Beat me to it.

I like Cal, and that means I'm all NBA all the time. :100points::100points::100points:

You're not gonna find a single UK fan that cares more about draft picks than titles. But you are gonna fit the mold of a lot of UK fans that seem to think it is either draft picks or titles. Titles are hard, hence we only have 8 in our history. But show me a single team that has more championships since Cal has got to UK, with no draft picks. Pretty much every title team has at least one draft pick on their team, and most have multiple draft picks.

So dumb

I like basketball. I like watching the best players. I love UK basketball so I want the best players to play for UK. The best players usually means you win a lot. Occasionally, those teams win championships.

UK has won 4 titles in over half a century. We are not winning the title every couple of years, like some think we are supposed to, no matter who the players are. We are in the conversation of teams with a possibility of winning it nearly every year.

I'm good with that.

yep as far as other fanbases, they have unlimited ammo because of this very reason. IF IF IF IF we dont win another title, having ALL these NBA stars makes it way worse because ultimatly we have just about only one thing to show for it with all this far supirior talent. Alot of fans are happy with just saying we got to a FF, im trying to win it all. These are my opinions, my thoughts. Im for the Cats.

I really don't understand anyone who says they love the game of basketball but won't watch it being played at the highest level. Unless you just like watching the coaches, because they are the stars at the college level.

I have been a NBA fan almost as long as I've been a UK fan. I never missed a game that matched up Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. I became a Celtics fan for life because of Russell, and Tiny Archibald, and John Havlicek. I will watch almost any NBA game but rarely if ever watch a college game that UK isn't playing in. I've been to more NBA games than UK games since I graduated in 1978.

Basketball is the best game of them all in my opinion, and especially so at the pro level. The stories are also compelling. I mean, if you aren't moved by what Isaiah Thomas is going through right now and still playing his @ss off, I don't know what to tell you.

I like the Cats best when they don't have any players who might be good enough to play in the hated NBA.

To me a perfect lineup would be Michael Porter at PG, Jon Hood at 2G, Bobby Perry at SF, Oliver Simmons at PF and Morikyno Williams at C.

Take that NBA! No Wildcats for you! If only Cal could bring us teams like that...Me and the OP would be deliriously happy!

Just curious what was your thoughts back when Tubby was coach and in 10 yrs we averaged 10+ losses in many seasons, 1 title, and no OADs? Were you this upset?

My thoughts were he is a decent coach really gets after it on defense, horrendous recruiter, lazy to actually put in the work to be successful. Im not upset. This is not life and death for me. Im not a tubby supporter but Cal is only averaging 3-4 wins more a season. Cal, is a good tournament coach to a point.

Are you upset? Does me having a brain wich allows me to be an independent thinker offend you? Am i allowed to not like certain philosophies Cal lives by but still love him as a coach? Are you gonna be ok? Did you expect me to say give me back tubby? Life will go on, different perspectives help from having you have a closed mind.

nice

CATS, CATS in NBA, NBA playoffs with teams with former CATS. The order of importance

Sadly, some are more worried about the NBA.
i believe alot are worried about how many we can get to the NBA for bragging rights, it makes them feel we are successful, i dont think most care about the NBA, just how many we can cram into a green room, if this doesnt apply to you dont take it personal, i know a few folks that that is ALL they talk about. Its out there.

I am very glad Kentucky has all of these pros. That's really all we lacked in history, NBA all stars. We've got that covered. It adds a ton to our tradition don't kid yourself. I grew up in the 90's when UNC fans would laugh at us over it. So spare me.

Cal could leave tomorrow and this was well worth it. Could it have been better? Absolutely. I do think in the end Cals gonna sacrifice some status a bit, but as long as he can get to two titles he's fine.

As for the NBA discussion, there are a handful of people around here that really do not care if Kentucky is winning a title. They don't really care who comes and goes. Cal has a few eating out of his palm and slurping up coach speak and recruiting propoganda. And it's not uncommon, he had Memphis fans doing it too. He's a salesman, some forget what that means. I believe people get so caught up defending everything that it side tracks them. Cal knows this, that's why he usually covers his bases and has a fail proof excuse for them.

I'm just someone who doesn't see it all or nothing.

I agree. I can't understand the basketball fan who hates the NBA and only likes college ball. It baffles me not to want to watch the best players in the world. I don't know if it's not understanding the game or not wanting to many interests or what. But to each their own I guess

I'm impressed that you can type and answer yourself, that takes skill but whining don't. Constant complaining is an illness nothing else.

We get kids to play at a high level when other schools don't as quick...what is so hard to understand about this? Ppl pout their ass off when there's not a bunch if seniors yet our freshman ARE playing on that level. Yet ppl refuse to understand it just bc they are freshman.

And still, one title.

I bleed Blue... I root for our kids in blue to achieve their dreams and one day play in the pros and do what they love and get paid for it. One title in 8 years.... not bad. Insanity level 10

Pro - UK. Watch a small sample of NBA during the regular season and tend not to care a lot in an emotional investment sort of way because while I enjoy the competition, skill level, and like watching the play I don't really care about the teams one way or the other.

Still, I do grasp that I'm almost 45 and have no eligibility left and have no shot at making even the developmental league so it is more about what the talent is focused on which is making the NBA or even just making the game their career so it doesn't matter if us old kats care about the NBA or not if we want to be compete at a high level with regularity.

I'm also most opposed to simplistic, reductionist, and reactionary thinking, even more than Duke Men's Basketball.
