That’s what happens when you aren’t motivated to play your best baseball. The UK radio guy didn’t sugar coat it. What a bitter loss when your ace was on the mound.
Beyond motivation. We’ve lucked out some wins lately. Place discipline has disappeared
A bad loss. With the persisting questions re UK's Saturday pitching (can't imagine Thompson throwing too many pitches tomorrow given this will be just his second appearance coming off the injury), UK's bats had better come alive in a big way or else UK will drop the series and likely take itself out of the conversation to host. Very disappointing to come out flat and sloppy.
Story of this year. Tennessee loses to Morehead Wednesday, 4-2,and out hits Tennessee,and we get 3 hits ,and out scored 6-2 by Tennessee! Mingione needs to have a team meeting,and find out if they’re wanting to end the season ASAP? Seems that way,too inconsistent to extend the season much longer!
According to a UT fan, the Linginfelter kid is their best pitcher, but he's struggled with control a lot. Didn't happen today though. So, we ran into a bit of a buzz saw facing him when sharp.
I also asked about Hunley and he said he wasn't that great and only throws mid-80s and that's why he's not really starting. Don't think there is anything wrong with him.
I think the bats can wake up. Should still be able to get two. I have to imagine that Belanger/Ming has faith in Thompson being able to throw basically a full game. I don't think they would have thrown Haake otherwise. Unless they plan to use Harper tomorrow.

Back home from the game, great seats, early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. After that I saw a team that lacked focus and motivation. Hjelle was not sharp, the Lipicious kid hammered him and Haake, 4 hits, a HR among them.
Played very sloppy, couldn't come up with a 3rd strike pitch in the dirt, Hjelle air mailed a pick off attempt.
The story line in the 9th inning for example, bases loaded NO out, and not even 1 run. Tomorrow is a very big game, we must get that one, as other SEC east teams are peaking, as we are slumping !

Define slumping???we win almost every series we play...this is UT we are playin not UT Martin....all SEC teams are good at home...not gonna sweep them
Losing 2 of 3 vs UF, should have lost 2 to Mizzou, losing the 1st game last night with your ace on the mound. UGA has already taken the series at Mizzou, USC hammered west leading Ole Miss, UF shutting out A&M at their place. Starting to get left in the dust .... Must now win the last 2 games in Knoxville to take the series.
Last nights game was a mess, but we are still ok if we can win the series and our competition loses Puts much more pressure on , but these guys can do it!!!
Yes if, we can take these next 2 games win at least 2 next weekend, and win 1 or more at Vandy, that would put us at 15-15 in SEC play, and might still get to host ..... That's a lot of iffin though, hope we can !
