Calipari with a jab at reed on draft night

Lu
Man yall are obsessed. I think if Cal said “good morning” 1/2 of you would get offended and cause him of hating afternoons.
He’s gone, which IMO is good for the program, so he’s an afterthought to me, I’m focused on UK and Pope and our players, not some past coach (like I couldn’t even tell you what BCG is doing, is he still coaching? Because I don’t really care because he is gone). Yeah can't wait for the new CATS and gamedays in Lexington. Atleast we made July 4th it's getting closer.

Last I saw BCG left a very long time ago, he wasn’t here 15 years and just left a few days ago for an in conference rival and took our entire team lol. It’s weird that anyone would think it’s not going to be discussed here. It’s not weird people still talk about him. The only guys that continue to take issue with it are guys that were supporting Calipari up until the end. Same ones every time.

BCG was at Tarleton St last I saw and people still bring him up believe it or not lol.
I wasn’t a Cal supporter.
I’ve moved on, like when you break up with an Ex, you don’t keep talking and thinking about her every day, especially after you have a new woman/girlfriend.
Discussing the team he moved on to (since in our conference) is quite reasonable, as is how he is coaching that team.
But this obsession some have over him borders on stalkerish.

Cal had great team this year and he just blew it. We had all the pieces to win it all.

Did we tho?
We had a great offensive team capable of putting up points against anyone.

We had one of the worst defenses among all power conference teams.

That wasn't a title winning team.

Frankly we were lucky to be a 3 seed based on the numbers we've put in totality.

Like a cat, I think his name was Jay Brunson, who played for ohio state years ago. Guy looked like not only a middle schooler, but a skinny middle schooler. Much like reed though, dude could hoop...
Jay Burson. Yeah he was a toothpick.

In response to the OP, it might or might not have been a jab at Reed, I suspect it was probably unintentional, but given the fact that he's fired so many jabs at Reed in the past, I can see why people are a little sensitive about it.

"Stalkerish?"

Oh FFS get over yourself already. You were a calboi 24/7. You can't revise history now. Knock off the fun police routine, it's boring.

Cal is so spurned it chaps his ass so bad he was out maneuvered and ran outa here. Had he manipulated his way into still being at UK you already know it wouldn’t look so damn cringy every time he does his typical sht. Even Reed seems like he’s thinkin damn coach…

The days of Calipari reigning over the Green Room are over. It was largely a combination of the early OAD and Kentucky, which was a super powerful punch. A nearing 70 year old Cal and Arkansas lol. They’ll attract a few fringe NBA wana be guys and maybe a few top 10 picks but I highly doubt it’s anything like the days of old.

Cal is a stupid sob. Had the world in his palm numerous times and just couldn’t humble himself enough to cash it in. He’s got that narcissistic way about him where the most important thing is convincing you he doesn’t care about anything and it just gets in his way from making great decisions. It’s okay to care a little but to a narcissistic, never.

Just for you... (But good post..)

This is the most ridiculous post ever. Give me a break.
I saw a week or two ago where the OP told killswitch24 that he used to post here as Ruppsrunt. Do you remember him/ her and did they used to post garbage? Killswitch24 said he knows him personally and someone chimed in and said that meant kill switch24 must be someone named Morgousky FWIW.

Calipari is just so cringy the older he’s gotten. I personally believe his intent was simply to get in on the moment for multiple reasons. To be seen and for his obsession; to show UK he doesn’t care which he does but he’s so narcissistic he can’t allow anyone to see it. From there he just says the wrong things. It wasn’t good to tell Reed how young he looks but I think past his attempt to get in on the situation he didn’t quite know what to say. He really isn’t as slick as he used to be he’s just too old. So he just threw that out there. If you look at Reed when he said it it doesn’t look like Reed liked it. Like you said he knows how young he looks at doesn’t want to hear that on a night when he’s doing man sht. Totally out of place comment but I think Cal just hadn’t thought past his intent of getting in on it.

Cal diminished Reed all year by keeping him on the bench to start both halves, and how long did he know how good Reed was? Before any of us. He was never going to let Reed earn that role and that was for one reason, Wagner. He then down talked Reed all through the year to the press. His supporters did too, remember the “how long before everyone wants Reed to get more minutes” comments?

Suddenly now he can’t wait to get to him at the draft table! He’s a pos and he’s fos. The entire season last year should have been the Reed Sheppard show, but insert dumbass Calipari.
I am assuming that you buy your panties pre wadded.

Triple C is the most ignorant, cocky, vindictive, underachieving POS born since the dinosaur era. But his comment about Reed wasn’t a jab at all. He says / does enough every day to prove his worthlessness but this comment is no big deal. Let’s move on to better times and forget about that scumbag.

We didn't have one of the worst defenses. We had a coach who had no desire to teach offense or defense, but the offense had someone teaching them (just wasn't Cal). And there was no one to hold the kids accountable. Cal was too busy cold-calling other schools.

Most everything I read from that person was, I felt, implicitly in support of Cal.

Bad threads always rise to the top. I’m not being mean, but this is a weird thread. Reed does look like he’s 16.

No. God could have come down from the heavens and coached this team and we still would have had a crappy defense.

I feel like coaches get wayyyy too much blame (and credit when things go well) here.

We had a bad defense cause we had poor defensive players.

If you think that team was coached well in defense especially is scheming for poor defensive players you’re nuts. One of the worst coached teams I’ve ever seen on the defensive side of the ball. If you don’t think a real coach who had more care couldn’t have had them playing better I have no idea what you think is going on but you’re dead wrong.

if you think that the coach who had teams:

2010: 6th best in def efficiency
2011: 16th
2012: 7th
2015: 1st
2017: 7th
2018: 22nd
2019: 8th

2024: 109th

The guy didn't suddenly forget how to coach defense. He just had bad defensive players. Period.

I see this with nearly every single sport I follow.

At some point, this all boils down to the players and the talent they have (or don't have).

That's all this is.

Every great coach has had great players.

It's just easier to blame one guy than an entire group and so people gravitate towards that.

Cal certainly had to go. He didn't perform to expectations towards the end of his time here, but no one was helping last years team.

No. We had a coach who placed priority of getting guys their exposure over the importance of holding guys accountable for their own defensive roles. He was too worried about calling certain guys out. He refused to play zone, refused to make them hold their damn hands up in the air and stop biting on every pump fake. Cal was too busy coddling certain guys, and looking for a job somewhere else, to be bothered with teaching and enforcing fundamentals. You can't defend what Cal was and wasn't doing.

You can say a lot things about Cal, but saying he didn't care for his players is NOT one of them. He went over and gave Rob a hug also. And no he didn't do it for attention, Cal doesn't need to steal anyone's spotlight, he was there for Reed and Rob. Simple as that.

This post is the dumbest of your multiple post in just THIS thread. The replacements was just as bad / worse on defense as the starters. Rob was THE worst. "refuse to make them hold their hands up " LOL, what was he suppose to do run out there and hold the whole 5 players hands up for them ? "stop biting on the pump fake" ? That is a reaction movement, not a taught one. Maybe he spent too much time making them one of if not THE most potent offenses in the country ? You have to take the good with the bad if you are pointing things out. I will let you in on a little secret, MOST great offensive players are not good defenders. Very few players are elite two way players, it is why 3&D guys are in most demand in the NBA, so few can do it. If Cal had a fault, it was he had too many offensive players and not enough good defenders balance it all out.

Total nonsense wow you are clueless when it comes to John Calipari but let me tell you who isn’t. His former bosses, our athletic director, boosters close to the program, NBA ownership (why he was never offered another NBA job.

I realize he turned you out he’s able to do that with some people. But don’t go around trying to convince others his salesmanship is anything more than for himself. John Calipari is universally hated in most of the places he’s been for a very good reason. No you don’t understand what all of these other people don’t. Calipari is, was, and always will be about John Calipari and his image and money. What more do you need to understand it? Literally every move the guy makes is a look at me play, including his charity work. The notion that Calipari is not a narcissist and is in this for other people is so insanely absurd that if I were you, personally, I’d keep that nonsense to myself. Nobody is going to buy what you’re selling and it makes you look foolish no offense.
