Cal works for UK. He has a boss/bosses. They need to call him in on the carpet. Make it red hot miserable for him. Lay out what is to be done or else. First maybe he will resign if they do. Second the accounability needs to be restored. He has alienated himself and thinks he is the show. Winning at a high level allows that kind of arrogance. Losing does not. Turn up the heat to a level he never dreamed of. If he doesn't meet with bosses or comply, find a way to terminate his contract based on grounds of insubordination.

Cal is employed under a contract, which is far different from a standard employee/employer relationship. It gives him far more leverage than normal employees get.

CEOs for large corporations are let go for several years of unproductive results. CCC is basically CEO of the UK mens basketball program. It's a huge business now. Buy him out, work out a deal. Otherwise get ready for more of the same.

My only change would be, today is your last day as coach. You can resign of tou can be fired. Your choice

He needs to be handed a mop and a bucket of water and tell him to go clean toilets...

as angry as the fans are

as a UK administrator, would you make the decision to save $8m by waiting 1 more year knowing UK has likely another 20 win season in 2025? If you aren't going to do better than that with a replacement coach then......

That contract is a boat anchor

The way this looks to outsiders is that Cal is Mitch's boss, crickets from Mitch is all where are going to hear until Cal tells him what his next move will be.

I thought Barnhart did that after the loss to St Peters but I'm in favor of anything that brings this debacle to an end.

This 1 million percent. MB has a 9 million dollar a year obligation to put every pressure he can on Cal to see better results. No other profession could you get paid so handsomely and fail so miserably and not feel any kind of heat.

If you let the coach’s agent write the contract you are not going to be able to enforce much of anything short of criminal activity or sanctions.

Are they saving, though? They're still going to pay it to him no matter what, so why not just tell him he's no longer welcome as coach, and pay for someone else to coach? Also, the hit that UK takes in other ways by allowing him to keep coaching, financially speaking, might dictate a need for change.

Hand him a shoebox for his stuff and escort him out of the building. Then charge him $8mm for the shoebox.

Can we promote him to UK Athletics Ambassador and pay him the rest of his contract that way at $1mm or whatever it is.
