Far from a solid roster. No scoring from the wing position, he'll there's no scoring other that labisiere. No starting sg or sf. Only 8 scholarship players which is pathetic. He's got a lot of work to do before he can ever think about being competitive. Murray is his last hope
We will sure have some scoring issues next season but just have to hope some bench players like Willis and Hawkins can step up.Lee will have to improve his offense and let's hope Alex can get back to perfect health and be consistent in his play.
Duke won the title with 8 scholarship players, and only regularly used 7 of them because Plumlee only got spot minutes in most competitive games.
Maybe, just maybe, a couple of schools will have some recruits who get out of their LOI's and we land one. I like having Ulis, Briscoe and Mulder in the back court.
But if Towns, WCS, Lyles etc. can't get #9, I'm not sure Skal, Willis, Poythress and Lee will be a better unit - not sure Mulder is better than Booker either.

Watch it, speaking reality will get you labeled a "hater" and folks will tell you to "cheer for someone else". Hopefully, something will fall into our lap over the summer.
well we didn't exactly win #9 with 2 deep at (nearly) every position, let's just see what we can do without depth at every position. At least we have some players who want to be at UK , that should mean something. After reading this board since our loss to Wisky, anything less than a championship is a failure, so if we fail with less depth, can't blame it on the talent, or can we? Let's give these boys we have the same chance we gave the more heralded bunch before we concede anything, shall we? Who know's, they just might pull it off.

I think UK and Coach Cal backed away from a few of those guys that really wanted to come here in hopes to get 'bigger fish'. The bigger fish went elsewhere and here we are.......
What you're missing with only 8-9 guys, some only modestly talented, is when SEC stripes decide to show their ass in some mid-week place like Knoxville or Athens or wherever. You've seen Randle or Dakari get mauled and pawed with no call then they get called for breathing. Fouls will be a huge problem for a limited sized UK roster.
Or the stripes could give the other team a 37 second shot clock late in the biggest game of our season.

Some fans on this board have lost their minds or are band wagon fans.Before Cal become our coach we would have had a celebration with a class like we just got,plus we have a very good group of players coming back.Relax cat fans and watch what our coach does to have a top five team
Which teams have a better class coming in than UK? Which team has a better class and multiple 5* players returning? Some folks need to wake up and realize we have what it takes.
As others have pointed out those 5 star rankings for our returning SR and JR player mean squat. Neither have played like complete 5 stars. Can they? Remains to be seen.....
It has been a long time since I went into a season knowing we weren't going to win the title. Every year since Cal has been here, we were ranked high and went into the season with the chance of winning it all (2013 quickly fell apart but we didn't know that was going to happen) ...now this year, most of us know we don't have the goods to win #9.

Did you not watch Willis in the Bahamas? He was one of the most talked about players. There are not many 6'9 guys out there with his skillset. It's all between the ears. If Derek puts in the work over the summer and gets stronger and gains some confidence he has a chance to be an All-SEC level player.

Nobody is saying Derek Willis will be the best player on the team. Just saying he can be really really good. 6'9 mobile small forwards who can shoot from deep don't come along all that often. Next years team will be hard to zone with Tyler, Briscoe, Willis and Skal all being good shooters.
Willis is more than between the ears, its in his lower body or lack there of. He has slow feet and his base is weak.
UK is one injury away from a disaster as it stands now. But I have a feeling Cal is not done yet with this class.
Disaster? Hardly. We need to stop freaking out and comparing this year's team to last years. It's not fair to these kids. We are going to be a top 5 team, and even with an injury we will still be Top 10. Our starting lineup, in my opinion, is the best in the nation.
What's sad is some of the biggest whiners are formerly decent posters. It's like having a team so loaded that we had to platoon sucked half their brains out. If we don't have 7 lottery picks we're somehow screwed.
As for all the moaning about "who'll score, where's our points coming from, etc", Remember that there are only so many minutes to play and just because someone didn't score doesn't mean they can't or won't, just that they had to ride the pine behind a loaded team. The NCAA history books is filled with stars that shined after they got their turn to shine.

You can't deny that an injury to someone like skal would totally drop us from the top 25. Seems UK has more injuries to key players than any team out there. And I'm not whinning, just being realistic

Duke wins it all next year. Just don't bother watching next season. Kentucky doesn't stand a chance.
And if Okafor gets hurt, Duke doesn't win 20
games this year. If Davis gets hurt, UK doesn't win the title in 2012. You could play that damn game with any team in any year. You aren't being realistic at all.
