Cal posted a powerful and touching picture of a Dad and son from Sat night….

You must not have been around during the Pitino years. I live a coach that’s so confident in his abilities that it comes off as arrogant, Pitino and Calipari both are the same way when it come to that aspect of basketball. Live by the three die by the three is what they said about Pitino, he didn’t cave to the criticism and I respected that about him.
I don't remember too many criticizing Pitino's coaching... His attitude towards fans...100%

Dana Perino talked about the story today and UK-hater Clay Travis was on with her and made sure she knew Cal called to give them tickets and gave cal props.

Saw that, on Fox. Didn't know Travis was from Muhlenburg Co. Must not have gotten recruited by UK and has kept that burr in his side. But real good piece by him on the Cal-coal miner story.

Coal minings hard ass work.. Got almost 20 years in before got my head caught between roof and top of my scoop.. Should be dead.. Got black lung out of it too.. Said **** that and retired.. Also,, you'd be a Fkn idiot to work in the mines.. It'll destroy your body.. Not even 50 and disabled.. Some have seen my ear whacked off.. I like posting it,, lol..

This story and any shortcomings Calipari may have as a coach are two entirely separate things IMO. I've criticized Calipari plenty in the last two years but, this is a classy move to recognize the miner and his son. Very happy to see him do this.
Actually, I'd like to see more recognition of blue color fans from all across KY by UK's athletic programs. You want to connect with fans? That'll do it.

Had a conversation with a former “deep miner” from Floyd Co. Very interesting, but black lung is an unfortunate reality.

Wow, that picture struck a chord with me. Seeing a dad and son sharing such a decisive moment brings back memories of my family's roots. It's incredible how these connections can be found across different families and generations. The sacrifices they made to provide for their families were immeasurable. My father also worked in the coal mines, and we have many memorable photos. I recently decided to keep these photos as souvenirs, as I wouldn't want them to get lost. As a gift, I chose a commemorative photo frame, and if it's important to you, too, you can find some at frameshop.com.au. My parents appreciated the gift.

My older brother and cousins worked in the coal mines back in the day as well…Love the above picture.
My grandfather, uncles and cousins worked in the mines in W. Ky. And I can remember seeing them covered with coal soot similar to the guy pictured. Hard work, and as you can see, rewarding for a Poppa that loves his son and Ky ball. GO CATS

I live in Muhlenberg where coal mining has been a way of life for many years. My brother, dad, grandfather worked in the mines and my great-grandfather actually quit grade school to work in the mines. These dudes work hard. Love this from Cal. That’s my Coach, wouldn’t want anyone else.
Brax, do you know any Cundiffs or Travis' families? My Mom was a Travis, and our cousin-Merle Travis wrote 16 tons. and Tennessee Ernie Ford recorded it. The song is so factual and has a lot of memories for me and my family. I remember going to the company store with my cousins and getting candy and sweets and charging it to my Uncle's account-hence the words to the song, "I owe my soul to the company store." That was in the Drakesboro area in a small place named-Beech Creek. My Aunt was postmistress at the postal facility there.

Yes, my grandfather’s dad Earl Talmedge Dukes was actually neighbors and best friends with Merle Travis growing up. I have a cassette tape of them talking about growing up and shooting things off each others heads with 22s. It’s pretty wild.

I have some old tapes of Merle's songs, and I remember my Mom talking about him and playing at different places when she was a teen.

To the last commenter 😂😂😂

Clown.

And Cal still blows as a coach.

I have no idea why this post was dug up....I also have no idea why or how anyone can say Cal blows as a coach. He's won like 900 games. Maybe he has blown recently...but c'mon man...he doesn't blow in totality...you cannot seriously believe that.

“Maybe he has blown recently”

I’m not even gonna argue because it seems like we agree. 2010-2015 was a blast.
