Cal blowing smoke

He could almost double his salary coming here. What does the 40 and 50's have to do with anything? If Kentucky calls, you listen.
People think money moves the needle way more than it does. Few has stayed put in large part because he likes the fly fishing in Spokane. If you find a school you fit perfectly at you stay. Hurley is at his perfect school.

As usual. Same old mantra.
More than three plays hurt them, it is the same stuff game after game, teams watch film and have figured out we can't guard out of bounds 50% of the time, and I know UT scored at least 6 point on out of bounds plays, the second is the same as well, we can't guard the pick and roll out top, which leads to teams getting untouched layups 10 to 15 times in a game. We can't stay in front of our man on defense which like the pick and roll ends up with them getting untouched layups. This has been happening since game one, it has only gotten worse as we play veteran hard nose teams that have seen the tape on the Cats; Yet Cal keeps doing the same stupid crap game and game after game, the man is either to ignorant or too stubborn to make any changes.

I really thought this team would turn things around for Cal, and early on it looked like they were. But now here we are again. Players getting antsy about their draft status and the team coming apart. So many UK guys playing in the All Star game and doing well in the NBA is a blessing and a curse. When we beat UNC we all thought "and we're only going to get better". If only.

Hurley isn't coming here, but it has nothing to do with Connecticut being a "better job and program in the modern era."

He's at the best job for him given his background, and he knows it.
Probably not, but you have to make him, Billy Donovan, and Brad Stevens say no first before you contact any other coaches.

I think the team really enjoyed running a guard-centered offense that had Mitchell and Thiero getting to also be out on the perimeter. Teams were forced to play small to try and keep up with us. As soon as the bigs came back, the offense slowed down, and the opponent's defense expanded outward because the bigs are easy to defend. A lot of this is on the bigs. Ugonna was never developed properly. Bradshaw has no business on a D1 court, and Cal just wanted some attention with a Croation recruit, a guy who on MOST teams would be riding the bench as a freshman.

So you have him talking about out of bounds plays---then Dillingham admitting they know but aren't doing anything about it, but they know what to do, why keep this nonsense going? Add that Cal publicly has called out a player questioning his injury (he's correct too regarding Thiero's bull****) and return to play timeline. Throw in DJ's "high ankle" which no program at any level allows an athlete who has this injury to do anything without a boot on. Hell Bradshaw was wearing a boot when he didn't even have to but DJ had/has a high ankle and just does as he wants? Bull****. DJ is what he was/is/will be-- a very good player who lacks elite NBA athleticism and isn't a good enough shooter at this time to be anything more than an NBA role player. If he's going to change that--get in gym and make jumpers/work on game. He's been given reigns to program and then when it shifted to Reed late in Fayetteville, the ankle got bad again to the point he can't play?--guess I missed that when he streaked for a layup late in the win in last minutes of Arkansas win.

At some point, it's just over. They've tried everything and it's going the same manner. If you are telling players what to do and they either don't listen or ignore your instruction, it's time to find new coach.
If players don't listen, sit them down. Just too much of players and handlers dictating playing time and positions.

Hurley is flavor of the month. Outside of last year and this year (which isn't over yet), what has he done to deserve to be hired by UK??
He won a championship last year, can recruit and has a fun style of play with actual fundamental basketball. Then tell us who is worthy in your eyes?

I am not sure but Hurley's best NCAA showing before last year was a round of 32 at Rhode Island (did it twice). Yeah, he won a title last year but very little before that. Do we really want a coach who has zero long term record of success in the tournament?

Championships are the ultimate measure of success. Then what comes after that is debated on what is second and third place. You have YET to answer my question. WHO is your pick to replace Cal then? Who?

Sadly, no one just throws away that type of money. $30 mil is still $30 mil.

I don't know what the plan would be. He's not going to throw that money away, and we're probably not in a position to just eat that salary.

Do you maybe buy out his salary and with the next coach, try and do a deal where you defer part of their salary. Start someone like Hurley at $8mil and give him some sort of contract that would pay him $12mil in years 3 4 and 5? But then we're kind of making the same mistake we made with Cal, guaranteed money.

At some point UK needs to just east the salary, realizing we're going to lose this money from ticket sales and concessions anyways.
Exactly. He won’t turn it down bc he only cares about himself and his family and not the program.

The only hope is that his ego is so big that he realizes the only way to save his legacy (other than winning big again) is to retire and publicly waive the rest of the contract for the good of the program. Basically make it a “I’m one of you and I want future success for this program. This university has already given me lifetimes worth of money, let me give back” ……… ok enough fantasy; never gonna happen

No reason to answer a hypothetical question that has no basis in reality. Cal has a title too and we want him gone.

No you clearly answered in a hypothetical. Cal has a title in 2012. The last 5 years have been trash for UK basketball. If you can't see that you're either a troll or just a dumbass.

Sorry you got upset. Go watch some TV and chill. It is good for your blood pressure.
