Cal’s weird post game presser after Arkansas first game

I'm sure it was the way they cut it together, but he looks borderline unhinged in that video. And that's something I'd suspected the last couple of years here although I never watched any of his interviews or press conferences...not that he did many himself.

And speaking of that, I think this will be the last time I give that man any of my attention or time.

That clip was chopped to death, but he pretty much said the same thing he said to us the last 5-6 years. He is showing his age and he has trouble explaining things it seems. He babbles, goes to bed early, doesn’t watch games or tape and pretty soon he will fall out with the media, we know how it is going to play out.

Definitely pretty weird!

That hornet's nest comment ought to get a lot of buzz.

Especially when he admits that Arkansas ran off their previous coach......and has a history of doing that -- moreso than even Kentucky. I LOL when the narrative is suggested that Arkansas fans are kind and rational. They are like sweatier Kentucky fans with an 1/8th of tradition.

But, in terms of Baylor, sure....... Drew certainly has it made at Baylor. Never wanted him here anyways. Bullet dodged.

They’ve always have been weird. It’s easier to recognize it as such with a new coach and different emotions. Annoying, meandering, frustrating, and often infuriating would have been the first adjectives that came to my mind as my lens had a different color when he was coaching my team. Free of that, it’s weird now lol

He is trying to paint himself as the victim... and he is the one THAT LEFT.
He wants to be the villain, then when he gets booed unmercifully at Rupp... he will give backhanded compliments and play it up

He didn't leave. He got caught trying to strong arm Mitch. He was betting UK would side with him and replace Mitch with his buddy Peavey. Had that happened, we would've been stuck with Cal for who knows how long. And how much FURTHER damage would've been done to the program. Cal didn't leave, his ego screwed him. And, personally, I don't think he ever wanted to be at Arkansas. He was just using that booster money as a threat. After the sports world found out about the ridiculous plot, Arkansas was about the only real school that would've touched him. Again, my opinion.

He never addresses a question head on.

Media: Cal are you concerned about rebounding?

Cal: How bout (last guy off the bench) coming in and hitting a three?

That was always my favorite.

“Reed played pretty good today, coach. Do you think teams have trouble planning for him?”

“Wow, did you see DJ out there, he shot 120% in practice yesterday. My dogs are hungry and I got to get home before the tv marathon re-runs are done. I like turtles.”

I will take you at your word.

Haven’t watched a minute of the man’s interviews, press conferences, etc for at least the past 4 years not gonna start now. He was always borderline unlistenable even at the beginning of his tenure but I tolerated it. The last few years it’s just downright bizarre. I have no doubt the way the whole thing with us went down and now him essentially being in exile in freaking Arkansas has pushed him over the ledge.

I suspect it will get much much worse before he finally hangs it up.

Why Cal would ever think he had any leverage after following up a 9-16 season with two first round losses to not even mid-majors and a second round loss to KState is beyond me.

I think so, UK can do that to coaches. He put a lot of effort into the program when he first arrived but lately it became apparent that he was tired and not enthusiastic, he was more interested in his guys and the NBA.
I think Bo Ryan and John Higgins broke him .
