Years ago when I was in high school I wanted to take a certain girl to prom. She was a 7.5 out of 10 in terms of looks and her personality was probably closer to a five; but she was popular and locking her up meant a step up on the social ladder. I was young and stupid and so I put my pursuits on her.

Meanwhile, there was a girl that I genuinely got along with. She was more beautiful and nicer, but she didn't have access to the same friendship circles.

I went all in on the first girl, and came up empty. Meanwhile, the second girl ended up going with one of my moron friends to prom. He took her home before 11:00 and went back out to party. So she spent most of the night by herself, when she could have been having fun with me all night.

It was one of the dumber decisions of my youth.

I should have went with the girl that fit, the one that I was more attracted to, and the one that I got along with better.

Instead, I ended up with neither for prom and ended up having to take a third option.

Wilson is the first girl. He's the hyped up one. Meanwhile, the portal will offer someone who fits our system better. We just have to be patient. The whole Caleb Wilson recruitment was an exercise in vanity for our fan base. From a practical level, he offers us about the same production that five or six portal players will offer.

I took the “second girl to prom” (I mean the equivalent of your second girl and it was a Valentines bash thing). Had this wonderful romantic time. Kept dating her. Then her family up and moved to Kansas and we made plans I would transfer to college out to Washburn. It was too late by then for me to get accepted and actually start off there. Then a third girl, way out of my league generally, gorgeous and popular and humble, the absolute top of the food chain in our school, fell for me out of the blue and chased me around my last few months of high school. I kept letting her down as gently as I possibly could because I was in love with the second girl but that third girl really was a heart of gold. Then TWO DAYS BEFORE I STARTED COLLEGE girl number two visited town with her dad and dumped me for this dude she only wound up dating two weeks. High school is so meh.

Seems like a bit of a leap and hyperbole but everyone has a right to an opinion. Your post infers Garrison will be the same player next year as he is now. I don't think that's how it will be just based on his improvement this year. With a year in the system IMO he'll be a better 4 next year at UK than Wilson would be, which is what I was trying to point out in this thread about losing Wilson to UNC.

My projection is based on how raw Garrison is at a crucial position. He can’t score in the post and his career makes in three pointers can be counted on one hand. If Garrison is the four, the opposite PF can play free safety
 
I don't get it, but I think he's going to North Carolina. Just too many hints that lead to that conclusion. All the buzz going to them, UNC desperate for a PR win and throwing everything they can at him. Announcing on the 23rd (Jordan) to another UNC alum, Kenny Smith on TNT. He's a Tarhole. On to the next.

Oh, my brother. I had a wife, but she was the truly b*****t crazy one. She kept running around, finally left me for this other dude, then told me a year later she was really in love with me but she couldn't come back to me. She had told her parents too many lies about me and she didn't want to fess up. Water under the bridge. The actual "one that got away" was my first girlfriend in college, later fiancée, who introduced this east coast boy to Kentucky Basketball. My handle here is actually a reference to her. That's the one that deep down I'm always kinda hoping to run into her sequel around some corner. God's got a plan. 🙏

I think we all want to see a 5* top ten recruit pick us that’s not from or have a uk connection like jasper does. Just so we can see & say that coach can get the top guys we wanted although I think Lewis may be a 5 star by seasons end. He got started late for ‘25 so hard to judge that aspect of the program because he has so much ground to make up for the guys he’s went after.

We are all so accustomed to bringing in the #1 (or real damn close to) recruiting classes, only to fall short of having great teams following. It will take us all some time to get accustomed to the new norm, which is to assemble great teams through both the portal and HS recruiting and to build great teams through a great coaching staff. What is true, and always will be, is we sure as hell hate losing at anything basketball wise. Thus, if Wilson goes to UNCheat, I feel many of us would be more upset about "losing" to UNC on the recruiting trail than we would Wilson not being a Cat. Of course we want Wilson, but for the first time in a VERY LONG TIME I trust our HC to find an answer at every position, to coach the team up, to out coach most opposing coaches, and to make BBN proud!

the only two problem for this season roster is that

We do not have physically/athleticism in frontcourt (Abou Theiro/Somto Cyril type guy) and do not have guy can create own offence (Chaz Lainer type guy)

These two types are easier to be make up from portal based on what we already have

If we solve these two problems in next season, we are way way more likely to get #9

Personally Pope getting Jasper and Moreno was the best recruiting. He had no relationship and still did it.

Now the guys have built a relationship with the recruits. So you win some and lose some. Pope and his guys are very good recruiters.

I believe we will definitely have top 10 guy in 26 class.

Pope will perform way more better than 25 class as he now has the reputation and shows his ability

Expect a class with Taylen Kinney and 2-3 other solid five stars, all can contribute a lot

You already are adding at minimum two dynamic guards that can create their own. Physical, powerful specimen will be needed to fulfill roles next year. I agree

Like most of us, I want top talent but honestly, the portal might well be chaotic and crazy this year. I'd say that there are less than half of all d1 players that are certain to come back to the same school they are with this year...actually none a for certain. I don't know how far down the chain nil goes with all schools but there are a ton of players that will shop themselves around, imo. I mean, a shit ton of players! There's literally nothing to stop them. I think we're in good hands with Pope but I wouldn't be surprised if another school offered 1 or more of our guys, enough to land them. Just sayin...It's a whole new world now. Dare I say it but, Garrison might be one that gets some pretty big offers elsewhere. I hope not but I see no end to this nil crap until college ball becomes a minor league..with multi year contracts etc.

Has a nice stroke and his frame is going to easily add 10-20 pounds of muscle if he get's in the weight room. His improvement this year in limited minutes has been pretty impressive. I know CMP is very high on him. If he works out like I hope he is the starting 4 from the start next year and Wilson would have to deal with coming off the bench. Could play into his pivot to UNC where they have no interior competition for minutes.

Garrison is too slow for the PF/4 spot. You think Carr gets beaten off the dribble, Garrison really wood. He will be our weak rebounding C/5

Just stop. Garrison is not gonna be a 4 next year. But he will be an improved 5.

Our starting 4 next season is currently playing for another college team …who knows maybe even one of our current opponents. There will be plenty of appealing options in the transfer portal, we just need to make the right sales pitch and throw the right amount of money at the right one.

I just searched "Caleb Wilson basketball" on my phone to see what time the announcement was and the first thing that pops up is "Caleb Wilson's Commitment to UNC".

Did he already announce or is it just a foregone conclusion that he's picking UNC?

Correct, but Acaden Lewis’s dad essentially already confirmed it will be UNC. Thus, foregone conclusion. He’s a Tar Heel
 
I remember that show called ER where Dr Carter and that European doctor were both vying for the love interest of one of the nurses. I think her name was Abby or something like that. Anyway, I never understood the hype. She was a mid looking woman, with a cringe-worthy personality. And to top it off, she was an absolute narcissist.

At one point while she was trying to play the two men against each other, the European doctor met her in a park, at which point he told her rather bluntly, "you're not that pretty and you're not that special."

I always remembered that line because it was absolutely perfect.

Well that's Caleb Wilson right now.

He's not that pretty and he's not that special.

So what I’m gathering from this is is that Son of Saul doesn’t find Caleb Wilson attractive. Informative I suppose…certainly not the type of content I expected tonight

Man, that was SUCH a good show. I still miss Dr. Greene. Was one of George Clooney's starting points too.
