Bump this thread when Indiana sucks

I could see May for sure, especially given he worked in a small buyout into his contract with UM.
I'm biased (spent a couple of years in Ann Arbor) but sincerely curious: what presently makes IU a better job than U-M? Do 20th century championships matter to young coaches? Long term probably the "third fiddle to football and hockey" thing but that's mitigated if you win. Besides IU's a football school now. :)

With NIL and unlimited transfers it's hard to tell which job is better than another one now.
However, with how Cignetti turned around the football program around, I could see the AD thinking that McCollum is the basketball equivalent of a younger Cignetti and going that route.
Yeah but it's only coaches hired from James Madison who work that kind of magic.

For Dusty May himself, he grew up right outside of Bloomington and was a basketball manager under Bob Knight. He has said that IU bball was his life growing up. He and his wife's family are from Indiana.

NIL: IU has a top 3-5 NIL budget.

Admissions: UM has denied admission to multiple recruits and transfers. Dusty was not able to bring over Johnell Davis with him from FAU due to this, so it affected him before he even had a single team practice.

Recruiting ground. While Michigan has decent enough prep hoops, Indiana is one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country.

Salary: Mike Woodson has a higher salary than Dusty May does, by almost $1 million a year.

Venue: Assembly Hall is a better atmosphere than Crisler Arena.

Fanbase: IU's fanbase is just more passionate than Michigans. Largest student section in college.

Honestly, if he is eligible and they throw him enough money I can see Will Wade doing well there. I don’t like that thought but he won’t be the one. More like Dusty May
If I were them, I'd give Bruce Pearl a look and then hire Chris Collins.

It's something that there are multiple generations of UK fans that have grown up not even remotely understanding of how insufferable IUs fanbase was under Bob Knight. Nowadays it's very hard to understand unless like me you live in Southern Indiana and are a die hard UK fan. While IU fans are more scarce than ever they still troll under the bridges around my homestead.

Yup, we are the only ones who remember now but it’s nice that they can’t say a word and never will be able to at this rate,

Way to go Hoosiers !

Losing to your bitter rival. The wins are really piling up for Purdue. they lead the series something like 128 - 92. Boilermakers owning ya to the tune of 7 wins to only 3 losses over the last ten.

Give Woodson an extension !

I wonder if Braden Smith would leave Purdue for a chance at glory in his final college season?
Braden grew up and hour from West Lafayette. No way he plays somewhere else for his senior year. He'll be a Purdue HOFer when he's done there. He's a fine player, but there will be many like him in the portal. And TBH, Kentucky and Purdue, IMO, are fairly equal in terms of title chances.

Well, we've lost 4 of our last 5, right?

Indiana ? Lost their last 4 of 5 (but 4 in row now). Indiana loses to WISCONSIN last night.

The difference between Indiana and Kentucky is so vast, I can't even begin to enumerate, but let's look at this objectively :

1987 or 2012 ?
they had an undefeated team in 1975 that lost in the NCAA tournament. regional finals ...to SOMEONE, SURELY SOMEONE REMEMBERS WHO? **SNICKERS** !!!
that was regional final for their "greatest team ever"
well, we had an undefeated team lose in the NCAA tournament .. but they made it to the final four before bowing out. IU couldn't even do that with their GREATEST team?
And nobody will say that was Kentucky's greatest team. EVER.

And maybe IU has actually more tournament wins in the past 6 years than Kentucky has ? True, I guess, but that's more of a failing on CCC's part, not Kentucky as a whole.

.... and there are SO MANY more things that we could add. Maybe that's why this thread is 104 pages long and YEARS in the making ?

On the surface, one could equate Indiana sucking to something that **could** be a trend here at Kentucky, presaging a great and PERMANENT fall from grace.

But that would be a false narrative.

Kentucky is as relevant as ever. BBN still moves the needle like no other fan base ever will. And we lost 4 of 5, while IU has lost 4 straight.... and we are ranked 14, where TF is IU at? haha!

Perspective. It does a wildcat GOOD !
(not so much for the Hoosier - LOOSIER)

Suck it Hoosiers and your faithful classless gutter snipe trash fan base.

YOU PERMANENTLY SUCK !

see you again in the very near future to remind you how badly you suck !

.... queue Dan dickitch in 3.....2.....1.....

Indiana hasn’t won at Wisconsin since 1998. Amazing stat. Almost 30 years.

My GOD. Thanks RunninRichie, for that one !

That's why I love coming here to our board. All you guys and gals are so knowledgeable and my old blue hair behind forgets so much.

1998. Since the Tubby season of the comeback cats huh ?? that ... just doesn't seem like its possible. But when we're talking about Indiana basketball, that level of suckage knows NO limits !

I cannot imagine that happening here at Kentucky. And I don't like using the word never, but ...
