Bump this thread when Indiana sucks

I could see May for sure, especially given he worked in a small buyout into his contract with UM.
I'm biased (spent a couple of years in Ann Arbor) but sincerely curious: what presently makes IU a better job than U-M? Do 20th century championships matter to young coaches? Long term probably the "third fiddle to football and hockey" thing but that's mitigated if you win. Besides IU's a football school now. :)

With NIL and unlimited transfers it's hard to tell which job is better than another one now.
However, with how Cignetti turned around the football program around, I could see the AD thinking that McCollum is the basketball equivalent of a younger Cignetti and going that route.
Yeah but it's only coaches hired from James Madison who work that kind of magic.

For Dusty May himself, he grew up right outside of Bloomington and was a basketball manager under Bob Knight. He has said that IU bball was his life growing up. He and his wife's family are from Indiana.

NIL: IU has a top 3-5 NIL budget.

Admissions: UM has denied admission to multiple recruits and transfers. Dusty was not able to bring over Johnell Davis with him from FAU due to this, so it affected him before he even had a single team practice.

Recruiting ground. While Michigan has decent enough prep hoops, Indiana is one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the country.

Salary: Mike Woodson has a higher salary than Dusty May does, by almost $1 million a year.

Venue: Assembly Hall is a better atmosphere than Crisler Arena.

Fanbase: IU's fanbase is just more passionate than Michigans. Largest student section in college.
