Bump this thread when Indiana sucks

IU will get the benefit of all the media love being directed at the B1G conference as a whole this season. They could very well be swept into the NCAA tournament via the 'rising tide lifts all ships' mantra.
Personally, I think the Big 12 is a better conference but, it's kind of subjective.

In the 15 seasons since Mike Davis left IU, he has won:

267 games
4 Conference Championships
4 Conference Tournament Championships
And made 9 trips to the post season. (NCAA and NIT)

IU over that same period has won:
279 games
2 Conference Championships
0 Conference Tournament Championships
And made 9 trips to the post season (assuming they would have made it last year)

IU lost last night to MSU. They're now 12-13, 7-11 B1G, and finish at #23 Purdue.

I did a fly-by on their Rivals site. Pretty much like here; just change "Cal" to "Archie" and not much difference.

This is not a "misery loves company" post. We are Kentucky; we will recover and continue as the best.

IU? Not so much.

IU sucks.

As a Kentucky fan, it has hurt to be terrible most of the time for almost three months.

Indiana has been terrible most of the time for THREE DECADES.

That’s true, unmitigated suckage.

If you grew up when they were very good, it's just hard to get your head around the passage of time. You have to be over 40 years old now to have really experienced them when they were noteworthy.

If your under 40 you probably have no clue why IU deserves this thread. It's like folks who still want to gripe about Jimmy Carter.

I grew up when they were good and their fans were the most obnoxious, ugly, pestilent miscreants on planet earth, which is why I like the thread. We saw a tiny glimpse of what that fan base is capable of at the December 2011 game at ASS Hall -- but they were like that constantly when on top.

Bobby Knight was their role model - so it makes sense.

Indiana may stumble into a good coaching hire. Or not. We've seen this play before. But for now, as another coaching era ends in a Dumpster Fire, it is still possible to say, undeniably, they suck.

A quick summary:
1. When a new coach takes the floor in ramshackle Ass Hall, it'll the THIRTY FIVE SEASONS since the Hoosiers won ANY tournament title -- NCAA or even B-10.

2. It'll be the TWENTIETH season since IU got past the Sweet 16. That's 20 years since they were as far as the disappointing result Kentucky experienced in the last tournament played.

3. In the past 28 seasons -- almost three full decades -- Indiana will have been as far as the Elite Eight exactly ONCE.

4. In the past 13 seasons, Indiana has made the NCAA tournament FOUR times.

A personal note -- I grew up hating Indiana and Bobby Knight, mostly because of their obnoxious fans and Bully Bob. Then I got my first professional job in Washington, DC - and my boss was a stereotypical loud mouthed Hoosier fan. That was the fall of 1993. I was a young single guy. Indiana fans made the claim they were a better program than Kentucky was - same number of titles, had won more recently, and so on. What luck.

But since then - I've got three grown children. I'm close to retirement. And:
* Kentucky has won THREE championships under three coaches, been to EIGHT Final Fours and 15 Elite Eights, while winning SIXTEEN SEC tournaments.
* Indiana has one trip past the Sweet 16 and no championships of any kind.

So, we'll see what the Hoosiers do after installing yet another coach. But for now, they suck. And Kentucky will be back, as soon as next year.

Well, I have to hand it to the Hoosiers: I was afraid after getting rid of Little Jughead they'd finally turn things around: Maybe the home run hire Brad Stevens; at least a red hot college coach like Scott Drew or Chris Beard or Nate Oats who would almost guarantee some deep tourney runs fast. Or maybe John Beilein as a five-year bridge, as he's well into his 60s, with a shot at a title fast.

But no: They topped ALL expectations: A 63-year-old guy without one second of college coaching experience, and who no potential recruit under 50 will have heard of. But wait, let's also hire Thad Matta, who failed the physical to be the coach, but at least he can look over the shoulder of, and second guess all decisions by the new head coach.

1987 never seemed so far away.
1993 (last trip as far as the Elite Eight except 2002) has never seemed sooooooo long ago.
2002 (last trip as far as Elite Eight) will be TWENTY YEARS when a new season begins, sooooooo looooooong agooooooooo.

A new era in college basketball dawns where Elites are poised to feast at the Transfer Portal and dominate a revitalized 5-Star recruit pool because of NIL, and even one-time near elites should be able to flourish....and Indiana is stuck with a 63-year-old head coach with exactly zero minutes of experience running a college team and a program profile so diminished by decades of failure its no longer even a second-tier destination school like Texas and Michigan, etc...

In other words, all remains the same. Indiana sucks.

IU running back wore this in the game today.
